Stability Estimation of the Pillar between Twin Tunnels Considering Various Site Conditions (다양한 현장조건을 고려한 병설터널 필라의 안정성평가)

  • A lot of twin tunnels were modelled with different pillar widths, rock mass classes and stress ratios in order to consider various site conditions, and the stabilities of the pillars were estimated by numerical analyses and scaled model tests. The strength-stress ratios of the pillar were obtained from three different methods which were using the stresses appeared at the middle point, the whole average and the left/right edges of the pillar. The strength-stress ratio of the pillar edges showed relatively conservative values among them, and it was also practically consistent with the tunnel excavating steps comprising the construction sequence analyses which included the partial excavation and the support system. Scaled model tests were also performed to investigate the tunnel stability, where it was found that cracks were progressively generated from the pillar edges toward the middle point of the pillar. Therefore, in order to both prevent the local damage of pillar and conservatively estimate the tunnel stability, it was thought to be an appropriate method using the strength-stress ratio obtained from the left/right edges of the pillar.

  • The NARO is South Korea's first carrier launch vehicle, which made its flights from NARO Space Center on 25 August 2009 and 10 June 2010. LV PACS(Preparation Automated Control System) is a electrical ground support system to monitor and control the integrated launch vehicle during the launch preparation and operation in Launch Complex. As a subsystem of LV PACS, LV PACS-II was developed for launch preparation and operation of the NARO upper stage, and all the functions and requirements were verified successfully through NARO flight tests. In this paper the core technology and characteristics applied to LV PACS-II are described.

Development of Spot Welding and Arc Welding Dual Purpose Robot Automation System (점용접 및 아크용접 겸용 로봇 자동화시스템 개발)

  • A dual purpose robot automation system is developed for both arc welding and spot welding by one robot within a cell. The need for automation of both arc welding and spot welding processes is urgent while the production volume is not so big as to accommodate separate station for the two processes. Also, space is too narrow for separate station to be settled down in the factory. A spot welding robot is chosen and the function for arc welding are implemented in-house at cost of advanced functions. For the spot welding, a single pole type gun is used and the robot has to push down the plate to be welded, which causes the robot positioning error. Therefore, position error compensation algorithm is developed. The basic functions for the arc welding processes are implemented using the digital I/O board of robot controller, PLC, and A/D conversion PCB. The weaving pattern is taught in meticulously by manual teach. A fixture unit is also developed for dual purpose. The main aspects of the system is presented in this paper especially in the design and implementation procedure. The signal diagrams and sequence logic diagrams are also included. The outcome of the dual purpose welding cell is the increased productivity and good production stability which is indispensable for production volume prediction. Also, it leads to reduction of manufacturing lead time.

Recursive Error-Component Correcting Method for 3D Shape Reconstruction (3차원 형상 복원을 위한 재귀적 오차 성분 보정 방법)

  • This paper is a study on error correction for three-dimensional shape reconstruction based on factorization method. The existing error correction method based on factorization has a limitation of correction because it is optimized globally. Thus in this paper, we propose our new method which can find and correct the only major error influence factor toward three-dimensional reconstructed shape instead of global approach. We define the error-influenced factor in two-dimensional re-projection deviation space and directly control the error components. In addition, it is possible to improve the error correcting performance by recursively applying the above process. This approach has an advantage under noise because it controls the major error components without depending on any geometric information. The performance evaluation of the proposed algorithm is verified by simulation with synthetic and real image sequence to demonstrate noise robustness.

  • Environmental design pattern of the nine Small Urban Spaces at C.B.D. in City of Seoul are surveyed and analyzed for user's satisfaction and behavior under the environmental design evaluation by using Chrisopher Alexander's Pattern Language. Small Urban Spaces as a part of streetscape are formed by physical factors as well as visual environment and interacting user's behavior. Therefore, user's satisfacuion and behavior at the nine Urban Small Spaces were investigated under the further search for some possibilities of a pplication of those Pattern Languages. A pattern language has a structure of a network. It is used in sequence, going through the patterns, moving always from large patterns to smaller, always from the ones which create comes simply from the obsernation that most of the wonderful places of the city were not made by architects but by the people. It defines the limited number of arrangements of spaces that make sense in any given culture. And it actually gives us the power to generate these coherent arrangement of space. As a results, 'Plazl', 'Seats' and 'Accessibility' related design patterns are highly evaluated by Pattern Frequency, Pattern Interaction and their Composition ranks, thus reconfirm Whyte's Praise of urban Small Spaces in our inner city design environments. According to the multiple regression analysis of user's evaluation, the environmental functins related to the satisfaction were 'Plaza', 'Accessibility' and 'Paving'. According to the free response, user's prefer such visually pleasing environmental design object as 'Waterscape' and 'Setting'. In addition to, the basic needs in Urban Small Spaces are amenity facilities as bench, drinking water and shade for rest.

3D Modeling of Self-Occluding Objects from 2D Drawings (자기폐색 물체의 2D 커브로부터의 3D모델링)

  • In this paper, we propose a method for reconstructing a 3D object (or a set of objects) from a 2D drawing provided by a designer. The input 2D drawing consists of a set of contours that may partially overlap each other or be self-overlapping. Accordingly, the resulting 3D object(s) may occlude each other or be self-occluding. The proposed method is composed of three major steps: 2D contour analysis, 3D skeleton computation, and 3D object construction. Our main contribution is to compute the 3D skeleton from the self-intersecting 2D counterpart. We formulate the 3D skeleton construction problem as a sequence of optimization problems, to shape the skeleton and place it in the 3D space while satisfying C1-continuity and intersection-free conditions. Our method is mainly for a silhouette-based sketching interface for the design of 3D objects including self-intersecting objects.

Information Modeling for Construction Equipment Interface in Earthwork (토공작업 건설장비 정보 인터페이스를 위한 정보 모델링)

  • Earthwork is executed to provide a space for facility structures, and plays an important role in the construction operation. Contractors usually put a combination of construction vehicles to execute the earthwork operation. These construction vehicles need to interface with each other for productivity improvement. The objective of this study is to prototype an earthwork supportive system for information interface between construction vehicles. The study is conducted in a sequence of 1) analysis of information interface during earthwork; 2) data modeling of earthwork attributes; and 3) development of a prototype for the earthwork supportive system. The output screen images of the prototype show that the earthwork supportive system can improve communication between construction vehicles by facilitating information interface during earthwork.

Real-Time Neural Network for Information Propagation of Model Objects in Remote Position (원격지 모형 물체에 대한 정보 전송을 위한 실시간 신경망)

  • For real-time recognizing of model objects in remote position a new Neural Networks algorithm is proposed. The proposed neural networks technique is the real time computation methods through the inter-node diffusion. In the networks, a node corresponds to a state in the quantized input space. Each node is composed of a processing unit and fixed weights from its neighbor nodes as well as its input terminal. The most reliable algorithm derived for real time recognition of objects, is a dynamic programming based algorithm based on sequence matching techniques that would process the data as it arrives and could therefore provide continuously updated neighbor information estimates. Through several simulation experiments, real time reconstruction of the nonlinear image information is processed. 1-D LIPN hardware has been composed and various experiments with static and dynamic signals have been implemented.

Augmented Reality Using Projective Information (비유클리드공간 정보를 사용하는 증강현실)

  • We propose an algorithm for augmenting a real video sequence with views of graphics ojbects without metric calibration of the video camera by representing the motion of the video camera in projective space. We define a virtual camera, through which views of graphics objects are generated. attached to the real camera by specifying image locations of the world coordinate system of the virtual world. The virtual camera is decomposed into calibration and motion components in order to make full use of graphics tools. The projective motion of the real camera recovered from image matches has a function of transferring the virtual camera and makes the virtual camera move according to the motion of the real camera. The virtual camera also follows the change of the internal parameters of the real camera. This paper shows theoretical and experimental results of our application of non-metric vision to augmented reality.

Molecular Diversity of pagA Gene from Baciilus anthracis (탄저균 pagA 유전자의 분자적 다양성)

  • Bacillus anthracis is a gram-positive spore-forming bacterium that causes the disease anthrax. The anthrax toxin contains three components, including the protective antigen (PA), which binds to eucaryotic cell surface receptors and mediates the transport of toxins into the cell. In this study, the entire 2,294-nucleotide protective antigen gene (pag) was sequenced from 4 of B. anthracis strains to identify potential variation in the toxin and to further our understanding of B. anthracis evolution in Korea. Sequence alignment of the entire PA gene from 30 strains representative of the four B. anthracis diversity groups revealed mutations. The mutation of B. anthracis BAK are located adjacent to a highly antigenic region crossing the junction between PA domains 3 and 4 shown to be critical to LF binding. The different mutational combinations observed in this study give rise to 11 PA genotypes and 4PA phenotypes. Three-dimensional analysis of all the amino acid changes (Ala to Val) observed in BAK indicated that these changes are not only close sequentially but also very close in three-dimensional space to the antigenic region importan tfor LF binding. Phylogenetic (cladistic) analysis of the pag corresponded with previous strain grouping based on chromosomal variation, suggesting that plasmid evolution in B. anthracis has occurred with little or no horizontal transfer between the different strains.
