Chuna Manual Therapy for Temporomandibular Joint Disorder: Systematic Review (추나요법이 턱관절 증후군에 미치는 영향: 체계적 문헌 고찰)

  • Objectives To determine the effectiveness of Tuina for temporomandibular joint disorder. Methods We searched 10 electronic databases (Pubmed, CNKI, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, KISS, KISTI, NDSL, RISS, KMBASE, DBpia) up to May 2017. We included randomized controlled trials (RCTs) using Tuina for temporomandibular joint disorder. The methodological quality of each RCT was assessed by the Cochrane risk of bias tool. Results 14 RCT studies were eligible in our review. 14 studies were divided into 4 groups, and meta-analysised. The meta-analysis of 6 studies showed favorable results for the use of Tuina. High risk of bias were observed in 9 studies. Conclusions Although there are favorable results with meta-analysis, our systematic review are highly dependent on the single source of Chinese electrical database, CNKI. Now limited evidence is available to support Tuina for temporomandibular joint disorder and further well-designed RCTs should be encouraged.

A Study on the Identification of Risk Factors for unplanned Readmissions in a University Hospital (계획되지 않은 재입원에 대한 위험요인분석)

  • This study was designed to identify the risk factors of unplanned readmission in a university hospital. The six-month discharge information from January to June, 2000 in a tertiary university hospital was used as a source of data through the medical record and hospital information system. To increase the effect of comparison. the data were collected by sampling 192 couples (384 patients) of unplanned readmission group through the matching by its disease groups, sex, and age. The accuracy of prediction for unplanned readmission was analyzed by constructing the predicted model of unplanned readmission through the logistic regression. The study results are as follows. The conditional logistic regression analysis was performed with nine variables at the significance level 0.05 through univariate analysis including residence, days after discharge, initial admission route, previous admission, transfer to special care unite, hospital stay days, medical care expenses, special cares, and laboratory and imaging services. As a result, the closer the patients live in Seoul and Gyeong-in area (Odds ratio=2.529, p=0.003), the shorter the days after discharge was (Odds ratio=0.600, p=0.000), and the more frequent admission rate was (Odds ratio=2.317, p=0.004), the more unplanned readmission was resulted. Also, the accuracy of prediction for data classification of this regression model showed $70.3\%$(032+83/306).

Ambient Air Waste Sorting Facilities Could Be a Source of Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria

  • The antimicrobial resistance of Staphylococcus spp. and Gram negative strains present in air samples from waste sorting facilities was assessed. Phenotypic studies have revealed a high percentage of strains of Staphylococcus spp. resistant to methicillin. Genotypically and by RT-PCR, it was found that the mecA gene usually associated with methicillin resistance was present in 8% of the Staphylococcus strains isolated. About 30% of the Gram negative strains from the same samples also displayed resistance to meropenem and 79% of these were resistant to multiple antibiotics from different classes, namely cephalosporins and β-lactams. The results suggest that in professional activities with high levels of exposure to biological agents, the quantification and identification of the microbial flora in the work environment, with the determination of the presence of potential agents displaying multi-resistances is of relevance to the risk assessment. The personal protection of workers is particularly important relevance in these cases, since many of the strains that exhibit multi-resistance are potential opportunistic agents.

How Firms Transfer Financial Risks to Employees: Stock Price Volatility and CEO Power

  • Purpose - We investigate how firms transfer financial risks to employees in a form of flexible employment contracts and layoffs. Design/methodology/approach - Based on the literature on the prevalence of shareholder value ideology and the associated 'risk shift', we examined how stock price volatility is associated with a firm's use and hiring of nonstandard employees, and the number of employees lay-offed. We test our hypotheses using a longitudinal, multi-source, dataset of Korean firms from 2003 to 2011. Findings - We found support for the relationship between stock price volatility and flexible employment contracts and layoffs after controlling for actual risks such as increased debt or decreased sales. However, we found that the relationship is moderated by the power of professional CEOs relative to that of shareholders, in that powerful CEOs are more likely to transfer the external risks, i.e. stock price volatility, to employees. Research implications or Originality - This study contributes the emerging stream of literature that explore the effect of stock market pressures and governance structures on human resource management.

  • In this paper, as there are many cases of fires occurring due to the failure or inoperability of the thermostat of electronic products, the purpose is to test and analyze the risks and probabilities through fire cases and reproduction experiments, and suggest countermeasures. Among electronic products, water purifiers are composed of a refrigerant system with a compressor to make cold water, a heating device to make hot water, and an electric device used as an energy source. Due to the nature of the water purifier manufacturing, these devices are subject to a lot of moisture and dust. etc. exist in large quantities and use electrical energy, so there is a possibility of fire due to short circuit in the wire, electrical abnormal overheating (tracking phenomenon) in the thermostat, electronic board, starting relay, etc., and overheating of the heating device (Band Heater). there is. Therefore, in order to prevent fires from these devices, a system to remove foreign substances inside the water purifier is necessary, the use of heat-resistant (fire-resistant) wires for electrical devices is essential, and the use of non-combustible materials (semi-combustible materials) for each part is necessary to prevent fire. The risk must be eliminated through prevention and combustion expansion prevention devices.

Explaining Dividend Payout: Evidence from Malaysia's Blue-Chip Companies

  • This research investigates the explanatory factors governing the dividend payout to shareholders of blue-chip companies listed on Bursa Malaysia. In spite of continuous attention offered by empirical research on dividend payout of publicly-listed companies, paradoxically only few studies exclusively examined the explanatory factors from the perspective of blue-chip companies. Recognizing the capability of blue-chip companies to serve as a stalwart indicator of stock market condition as well as a consistent income source to shareholders, more research should be carried out for better inference on the companies' dividend payout decision. This research is using 522 observations from a sample of 18 Malaysian blue-chip companies over a 29-year period (1990 to 2019) and utilizes a panel data regression analysis for the estimation of the impact of eight factors, namely, systematic risk, leverage, free cash flow, lagged dividends, market-to-book value, profit growth, total asset turnover, and company size. Measuring dividend payout using two specifications (dividend/earnings and dividend/total assets), this research reveals that systematic risk and free cash flow have a significant and negative impact on dividend payout. Meanwhile, past year dividends, market-to-book value, profit growth, total asset turnover and company size have a significant and positive impact on dividend payout.

  • This paper describes the investigation on the spot in relation to electrical safety of electrical installation in elementary middle high school. The investigation was carried out for power receiving system, classroom, chemistry room, music hall and so on. The investigation on the spot was performed by researcher, the related expert, engineer with over fifteen years of industry experience all over the country. As a result of investigation on the spot to 41 schools, common grounding methods at power receiving system were dominant. The risk factors include absence of control box of electric fan, non-installation of earth leakage circuit breaker to power source of experiment stand, use of non-grounding outlet.

An Experiment Study for Flame Spread Prevention System of Snadwich Panels (샌드위치 패널의 화재확대 방지시스템 개발을 위한 실험적 연구)

  • The sandwich panel is commonly used domestically because it's less costly and easier to handle. But fires have frequently occurred in buildings employing sandwich panels, such as the fires in Eecheon cold storage and in Gwangju Pyungdong industrial zone. Sandwich panels with steel plates on their surface prevent fire water from penetrating to the fire source, which makes it difficult to extinguish a fire in a timely manner. Toxic gas generated from some insulation material leads to serious loss of life and property. This study is intended to develop an extinguishing system for sandwich panels, thereby reducing the fire risk. Fire water and volume were determined in the wake of the study on the structure of a sandwich panel extinguishing system, and improvement and testing of the fire characteristics of the sandwich panel. Based on such study and test, a fire model test was conducted. Consequently, the sandwich panel with extinguishing system was proven to have a reduced fire risk, compared to traditional or fire retardant panels.

A Study on the Analysis of Risk Factor on Highway Alignment Using RTK GPS (RTK GPS를 이용한 도로선형 위험요소 분석에 관한 연구)

  • At a recent, with an increase of traffic demand and a spread of automobile culture, the safety, convenience and speed of highway is required. On this study, using the real time kinematic GPS, observation value at a center line of ready-built road is obtained and then design specification of highway, IP, IA and R are obtained by least square method. Using those IP, IA and R, we analysed the risk factor of highway alignment by the standard for structure and facility of the road. With using RTK GPS, we could analyse dangerous element of highway alignment rapidly and cope with dangerous area of the existing road. It is also proved to apply availably whether we determine alignment improvement is needed or not or analyze source of accident related with alignment in the region having a high traffic accident rate.

Workers' Compensation Insurance and Occupational Injuries

  • Objectives: Although compensation for occupational injuries and diseases is guaranteed in almost all nations, countries vary greatly with respect to how they organize workers' compensation systems. In this paper, we focus on three aspects of workers' compensation insurance in Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) countries - types of systems, employers' funding mechanisms, and coverage for injured workers - and their impacts on the actual frequencies of occupational injuries and diseases. Methods: We estimated a panel data fixed effect model with cross-country OECD and International Labor Organization data. We controlled for country fixed effects, relevant aggregate variables, and dummy variables representing the occupational accidents data source. Results: First, the use of a private insurance system is found to lower the occupational accidents. Second, the use of risk-based pricing for the payment of employer raises the occupational injuries and diseases. Finally, the wider the coverage of injured workers is, the less frequent the workplace accidents are. Conclusion: Private insurance system, fixed flat rate employers' funding mechanism, and higher coverage of compensation scheme are significantly and positively correlated with lower level of occupational accidents compared with the public insurance system, risk-based funding system, and lower coverage of compensation scheme.
