In this paper, the delay times were evaluated to develop highly reliable time-to-digital converter(TDC) in analog and digital delay element structures. The delay element can be designed by using current source or inverter. In case of using inverter, the number of inverter has to be controlled to adjust the delay time. And in case of using current source, the current for charging and discharging is controlled. When the current source is used the delay time of the delay element is not sensitive with varying the channel width of CMOS. However, when the inverter is used the delay time is directly related to the channel width of CMOS. Therefore to obtain good reliability in TDC circuit the delay element using current source is more stable compared to inverter in the viewpoint of the variation of fabrication process.
The information matter-element system was built to assess safety of water source. Based on the thought of multiindex fusion, fuzzy matter-element model evaluating water source behavior was constructed by matter-element transform. This model can process comprehensively hydrogeological data, ecological environment, water pollution, surface disturbance, and so on. Water source safety behavior can be described by the qualitative and quantitative manners. According to the development trend of quantitative results, water source safety behavior can be expressed dynamically. As an example, the proposed method was used to assess safety status of 7 water sources in the region. The numerical example shows that the proposed method is feasible and effective, and the evaluation results are reasonable.
The current distribution in the source coil region is analyzed using the two dimensional finite element method. The variables in the FEM are the magnetic vector potentials and the source current density. The boundary condition for the source current density is that the total current is the sum of the eddy current and the source current and is known quantity from measurement. The simulation results are compared with the analytical solution. It is found that the method can analyze the current distribution in the source conductors very accurately.

A recently published nuclear forensics methodology for source discrimination of separated weapons-grade plutonium utilizes intra-element isotope ratios and a maximum likelihood formulation to identify the most likely source reactor-type, fuel burnup and time since irradiation of unknown material. Sensitivity studies performed here on the effects of random measurement error and the uncertainty in intra-element isotope ratio values show that different intra-element isotope ratios have disproportionate contributions to the determination of the reactor parameters. The methodology is robust to individual errors in measured intra-element isotope ratio values and even more so for uniform systematic errors due to competing effects on the predictions from the selected intra-element isotope ratios suite. For a unique sample-model pair, simulation uncertainties of up to 28% are acceptable without impeding successful source-reactor discrimination. However, for a generic sample with multiple plausible sources within the reactor library, uncertainties of 7% or less may be required. The results confirm the critical role of accurate reactor core physics, fuel burnup simulations and experimental measurements in the proposed methodology where increased simulation uncertainty is found to significantly affect the capability to discriminate between the reactors in the library.
This paper subdivided the interior solid into triangular shape of equal size to calculate the temperature distribution around the square heat source of it, and compared calculated values with measured ones. The result obtained are as follows. 1) It was found that we can calculate the temperature distribution around the square heat source of interior solid by the variational method of the finite element method as the calculated values were almost accord with the measured ones. 2) The temperature distributed were higher when the distances between heat source were farther and lower when those nearer. 3) Vertical surface temperature distribution is remarkably efficient by thermal conductivities.
An arrayed diffractive optical element design for the beam-shaping of a multi-array light source is proposed. This is an essential device for recent optical security and face recognition applications. In practice, we devise a DC noise reduction technique featuring high fabrication error tolerance regarding the multi-array light source diffractive optical elements, as a necessary part of the proposed design method. The spherical diverging illumination leads to DC-conjugate noise spreading. The main idea is tested experimentally, and the multi-array light source diffraction pattern is investigated numerically.
The characteristics of radiation impedance are analyzed by algorithms which consists of Finite Element Method (FEM) and Hybrid type Infinite Element Method. The changes of radiation impedance for piston source according to the size and the material properties of baffles are studied. The results of the radiation impedance for rigid finite baffle coincide with other reports. The more the material properties of baffle that comes across the acoustic medium, the more the calculation results of radiation impedance approach the ones without baffle. Therefore, these results can be applied to the design and the radiation characteristics analysis of acoustic transducers.
In order to understand the basic knowledge on the model of heat source in hybrid welding, authors have conducted finite element analysis to calculate heat distribution using three heat source models of non-split type and split type(Volume, Volume-Volume, Volume-Surface). From the research result, we can confirm that Volume-Volume heat source of split type is suitable for the analysis of heat distribution.

Noise and vibrations in the pipe systems may be arisen from pumps. compressors, etc. The source mechanism is classified with the mechanical and hydraulic. Mechanical vibrations may be excited by the unbalance in rotating machinery. Hydraulic source may be generated in the turbulent flow. The vibro-acoustic behaviour of flexible, fluid-filled pipe system is a very complex and determined by two parameters: the frequency and the mass ratio of fluid and pipe wall. As the frequency increases, the mode number in the pipe increases. The mass ratio is close to one, the structure and the fluid are strongly coupled. In ease the diameter is very small to the length of pipe, the behaviour of pipe is same as a beam. The finite element formulation when the fluid and the structure are coupled is derived by using beam element. The Numerical results are compared with the package (Sysnoise) which is using the shell element.

In the analysis of the electric machine by finite element method, the primary current has been selected as a driving source. But the voltage is constant and the primary current varies according to the load condition in the pracdtical system. Therefore, in this paper, magnetic flux distribution, primary current, input effective power, power factor, efficiency and propulsion force of S.L.I.M. were calculated by the finite element method cnsidering the voltage as a driving source. Because the driving characteristics could not be measured in the S.L.I.M., voltage-current curve, 3-phase current curve, and propulsion force were measured at the starting and they were compared with theoretical values.
