Spectroscopic ellipsometry is a powerful tool for analyzing optical properties of material. Ellipsometry measurement results is usually given by change of polarization state of probe light, so the measured result should be properly treated and transformed to meaningful parameters by transformation and modeling of the measurement result. In case of hydrogenated amorphous silicon, Tauc-Lorentz dispersion is usually used to model the measured ellipsometry spectrum. In this paper, modeling of spectroscopic ellipsometry result of hydrogenated amorphous silicon using Tauc-Lorentz dispersion is discussed.
Study of terrestrial impact craters is important not only in the field of the solar system formation and evolution but also of the Galactic astronomy. The terrestrial impact cratering record recently has been examined, providing short- and intermediate-term periodicities, such as, ${\sim}26$ Myrs, ${\sim}37$ Myrs. The existence of such a periodicity has an implication in the Galactic dynamics, since the terrestrial impact cratering is usually interpreted as a result of the environmental variation during solar orbiting in the Galactic plane. The aim of this paper is to search for a long-term periodicity with a novel method since no attempt has been made so far in searching a long-term periodicity in this research field in spite of its great importance. We apply the cepstrum analysis method to the terrestrial impact cratering record for the first time. As a result of the analysis we have found noticeable peaks in the Fourier power spectrum appear ing at periods of ${\sim}300$ Myrs and ${\sim}100$ Myrs, which seem in a simple resonance with the revolution period of the Sun around the Galactic center. Finally we briefly discuss its implications and suggest theoretical study be pursued to explain such a long-term periodicity.

The CrN/TiN/Al thin films for solar selective absorber were prepared by dc reactive magnetron sputtering with multi targets. The binary nitride CrN layer deposited with change in N2 gas flow rates. The gas mixture of Ar and N2 was an important parameter during sputtering deposition because the metal volume fraction (MVF) was controlled by the N2 gas flow rate. In this study, the crystallinity and surface properties of the CrN/TiN/Al thin films were estimated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM). The composition and depth profile of thin films were investigated using Auger electron spectroscopy (AES). The absorptance and reflectance with wavelength spectrum were recorded by UV-Vis-NIR spectrophotometry at a range of 300~1,100 nm.

AlCrNO cermet films were prepared on aluminum substrates using a DC-reactive magnetron sputtering method and a water-cooled Al:Cr target. The Al2O3/AlCrNO (LMVF)/AlCrNO (MMVF)/AlCrNO (HMVF)/Al/substrate of the 5 multi-layers was prepared according to the Ar and (N2 + O2) gas-mixture rates. The Al2O3 of the top layer is the anti-reflection layer of triple AlCrNO (LMVF)/AlCrNO (MMVF)/AlCrNO (HMVF) layers, and an Al metal forms the infrared reflection layer. In this study, the crystallinity and surface properties of the AlCrNO thin films were estimated using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), while the composition of the thin films was systematically investigated using Auger electron spectroscopy (AES). The optical properties of the wavelength spectrum were recorded using UH4150 spectrophotometry (UV-Vis-NIR) at a range of 0.3 μm to 2.5 μm.
We have analyzed the sunspot and aurora data recorded in Go-Ryer-Sa. We have collected 35 records of sunspot observations for 46 days, and 232 records of auroral observations. To objectively estimate the periods of the solar activity appearing in these records a method of calculating the one-dimensional power spectrum from inhomogeneous data is developed, and applied to the sunspot and auroral data. We have found statistically significant 10.5 and 10 year periodicities in the distributions of sunspot and aurora records, respectively. These periods are consistent with the well-known solar activity cycle. There are indications of the long-term variations, but the period is not certain. We have also calculated the cross-correlations between the sunspot and auroral data. In particular, we have divided the aurora data into several subgroups to study their nature. We conclude that the historical records of strong auroral activity correspond to non-recurrent magnetic storms related to the sunspots. On the other hand, the records of weak auroral activity are thought to be related with the recurrent magnetic storms which occur frequently due to the coronal hole near the sunspot minimum.
We have developed a facile method to position different dyes (N719 and N749) sequentially in a mesoporous TiO2 layer through selective desorption and adsorption processes. Only upper part of the first adsorbed N719 dye was selectively removed by the desorption solution formulated with polypropylene glycol and tetrabutylammonium hydroxide without any damages of the dye. The desorption depth was controlled by the number of desorption process. Multi-dyed dye-sensitized solar cells (MDSSC) were fabricated by utilizing the method and their photovoltaic properties were investigated. From the incident photon-to-current conversion efficiency (IPCE) measurement, it was found that the MDSSC exhibited the extended spectral response for the solar spectrum while without decrease of maximum IPCE value compare to the DSSCs using one kind of dye (N719 or N749). The highest photocurrent density of 19.3 mA/cm2 was obtained from the MDSSC utilizing $15\;{\mu}m$ N719 / $14\;{\mu}m$ N749 bi-layered mesoporous TiO2 film. The photocurrent density was 25% and 8% higher than that of the DSSC using only N719 and N749 dye as a sensitizer, respectively. The power conversion efficiency of 9.8% was achieved from the MDSSC under the AM 1.5G one sun illumination.
Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI) operates 2 solar radio observing facilities, e-CALLISTO (Earthwide network of Compound Astronomical Low-cost Low-frequency Instrument for Transportable Observatory) station and Korean Solar Radio Burst Locator (KSRBL). Although e-CALLISTO tracking system improvement.is underway, at least 6 new events were observed in this year. Software development for KSRBL is in progress. The antenna calibration software was updated and flux calibration software was developed. Also the automatic daily overview spectrum monitoring system is now operational. We found solutions to several problems including spurious data and FPGA board communication. However, a few minor unsolved hardware problems still persist. Meanwhile, at least 6 new events were observed by KSRBL in this year, and a comparative study with HXR is currently underway.
In this experiment, we did sampling 6 kinds of photovoltaic modules and analyzed the discrepancy of measurement results between l laboratory and 4 PV makers to have performance repeatability at Standard Test Condition(STC) condition. From the KIER's results, Korea's standard test laboratory, other laboratory showed -10% measurement variation. The causes came from correction of reference cell, test condition and the state of skill. Form the comparison test, we analyzed the problems. But three PV maker reduced measurement variation, other one PV maker and one test laboratory didn't improve the problems of correction of reference cell, test condition and the state of skill. Also, High Efficiency Module had a big discrepancy of -10.0$\sim$-6.2% among 3 laboratories which have a less than 10msec light pulse duration time. This made low spectrum response speed so the Fill Factor decreased maximum output power under 10msec light pulse duration time
Photovoltaic modules are well known to be one of the most eco generation of electricity. But usually study solar cell. Otherwise, PV modules are also important in power generation. We have to check other subsidiary materials. In this work benefit of using optically superior encapsulation materials(EVA) in generation temperature is demonstrated. Optical characterization of three EVA products demonstrates reduced transmission in the visible ray region of the solar spectrum. It will have a decisive effect to the module efficiency. Test is shown reduction of reflectance and transmittance. Reflections is dependent on the low iron glass. It can be seen between a specific wave length(240~350mm) about 1%. Transmittance in the entire ray region of light is markedly reduced to depending on the temperature rise. The graph is shown optical properties on EVA. Transmission was reduced. about 1%.
$TiO_2$ nano-particle paste was prepared by ethyl cellulose, $\alpha$-terpineol and bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (dioxcyl phthalate) for dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). Dispersion and absorbance of $TiO_2$ photoanode films was controlled by adding different amount of ethyl cellulose and $\alpha$-terpineol. The morphology of prepared $TiO_2$ films was studied by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and the optical properties of $TiO_2$ films were measured by UV/vis spectra. Photovoltaic-current density was observed to determine the electrochemical response of DSSCs. Energy conversion efficiency was obtained about 7.1% at ethyl cellulose and $\alpha$-terpineol at optimal mixed ratio (as ethyl cellulose: 0.1 g; $\alpha$-terpineol: 1.5 ml) under illumination with AM 1.5($100\;Wcm^{-2}$) simulated sunlight.
