  • HCPV(High Concentrated PV) systems have well known for CPV market all over the world. Low concentration type silicon based modules have been introduced in the market. But low cost of standard flat silicon modules made them useless nowadays. High cost of compound semiconductor solar cell reduced cost effective cpv module production than that of recently silicon solar cell. In order to overcome increasing cost of CPV module, we study middle concentration type fresnel lens simulation using concentrated type silicon based solar cell. Linear type fresnel lens made production of CPV module without secondary optics such as light pipe or light tunnel. This type of fresnel lens design makes more cost effective solution for cpv niche market.

  • The integration of PV modules into building facades or roof could raise their temperature that results in the reduction of PV system's electrical power generation. Hot air can be extracted from the space between PV modules and building envelope, and used for heating in buildings. The extraction of hot air from the space will enhance the performance of BIPV systems. The solar collector utilizing these two aspects is called PV/T(photovoltaic/thermal) solar collector. This research is about the development of solar roof system with PV/T collector to apply into buildings. A test cell experiment was performed with the PVT roof installed: It found that the hot air supply from the PVT air collector contributed to increase the heating efficiency by 2 times and the electrical efficiency by about 8%.

  • As the demand for new and renewable energy increases due to the depletion of fossil fuels, solar power generation, a core energy source for new and renewable energy, requires research on solar modules for high output power generation. In this paper, the electrical characteristics of solar cell strip at the edge and in the center of single-crystal silicon having a semi-square shape were analyzed. The cell strip located in the center showed the efficiency increase by 0.26% compared to the cell strip at the edge of the solar cell. A shingled photovoltaic module was manufactured for each cell strip. As a result, the output power of the module using the cell strip located in the center was higher by 0.992%.

  • Recently, solar power plants have spread widely as part of the transition to greater environmental protection and renewable energy. Therefore, regular solar plant inspection is necessary to efficiently manage solar-light modules. This study implemented a test that can detect solar-light module faults using an UAV based thermal infrared camera and GIS spatial analysis. First, images were taken using fixed UAV and an RGB camera, then orthomosaic images were created using Pix4D SW. We constructed solar-light module layers from the orthomosaic images and inputted the module layer code. Rubber covers were installed in the solar-light module to detect solar-light module faults. The mean temperature of each solar-light module can be calculated using the Zonalmean function based on temperature information from the UAV thermal camera and solar-light module layer. Finally, locations of solar-light modules of more than $37^{\circ}C$ and those with rubber covers can be extracted automatically using GIS spatial analysis and analyzed specifically using the solar-light module's identifying code.

  • This paper investigates the output powers of PV modules by predicting three unknown parameters: reverse saturation current, and series and shunt resistances. A theoretical model using the non-uniform physical parameters of solar cells, including the temperature coefficients, voltage, current, series and shunt resistances, is proposed to obtain the I-V characteristics of PV modules. The solar irradiation effect is included in the model to improve the accuracy of the output power. Analytical and Newton methods are implemented in MATLAB to calculate a module output. Experimental data of the non-uniform solar cells for both serial and parallel connections are used to extend the implementation of the model based on the I-V equation of the equivalent circuit of the cells and to extend the application of the model to m by n modules configuration. Moreover, the theoretical model incorporates, for the first time, the variations of series and shunt resistances, reverse saturation current and irradiation for easy implementation in real power generation. Finally, this model can be useful in predicting the degradation of a PV system because of evaluating the variations of series and shunt resistances, which are critical in the reliability analysis of PV power generation.

  • This paper presents the results of changes of optical properties of front materials in crystalline PV modules. If PV modules on the outdoor, transmittance of front materials is reduced by solar light. That is UV, IR included Solar spectrum will have change the properties of glass. Therefore decrease in transmittance leads to loss of the PV modules output. All the PV modules showed the loss in Isc by 1~5% within few hors. To investigate the changes we are analyzed using spectrophotometer from raw glass to laminated glass.

  • Recently, requirements for improving the convenience of constructing BIPV (Building Integrated Photo Voltaic) modules had increased. To solve this problem, we fabricated shingled PV modules integrated with bent steel plates for building integrated photovoltaics. These PV modules could be constructed directly on the roof without the installation structure. We found optimal lamination conditions with supporting structures to fabricate a module on a bent steel plate. Moreover, we applied a shingled design to PV modules integrated with bent steel plates to achieve a high electrical output power. The shingled module with bent steel plates shows 142.80 W of solar-to-power conversion in 0.785 m2 area.

  • Thin crystalline silicon (C-Si) solar cell is expected to be a low price energy source by decreasing the consumption of Si. However, thin c-Si solar cell entails the bowing and crack issues in high temperature manufacturing process. Thus, the conventional tabbing process, based on high temperature soldering (> $250^{\circ}C$), has difficulties for applying to thin c-Si solar cell modules. In this paper, a conductive paste (CP) based interconnection process has been proposed to fabricate thin c-Si solar cell modules with high production yield, instead of existing soldering materials. To optimize the process condition for CP based interconnection, we compared the performance and stability of modules fabricated under various lamination temperature (120, 150, and $175^{\circ}C$). The power from CP based module is similar to that with conventional tabbing process, as modules are fabricated. However, the output of CP based module laminated at $120^{\circ}C$ decreases significantly (14.1% for Damp heat and 6.1% for thermal cycle) in harsh condition, while the output drops only in 3% in the samples process at $150^{\circ}C$, $175^{\circ}C$. The peel test indicates that the unstable performance of sample laminated at $120^{\circ}C$ is attributed to weak adhesion strength (1.7 N) between cell and ribbon compared to other cases (2.7 N). As a result, optimized lamination temperature for CP based module process is $150^{\circ}C$, considering stability and energy consumption during the fabrication.
