Proposed Survey Steps for Investigation of Land-Creeping Susceptibility Areas: A Focus on Geophysical Mapping of the Yongheung-dong, Pohang, Korea

  • Land creeping is the imperceptibly slow, steady, downward movement o f slope-forming soil or rock. Because creep-related failures occur frequently on a large scale without notice, they can be hazardous to both property and human life. Korea Forest Service has operated the prevention and response system from land creeping which has been on the rise since 2018. We categorized and proposed three survey steps (e.g., preliminary, regional, detailed) for investigation of creeping susceptibility site with a focus on geophysical mapping of a selected test site, Yongheung-dong, Pohang, Korea. The combination of geophysical (dipole-dipole electrical resistivity tomography and reciprocal seismic refraction technique, well-logging), geotechnical studies (standard penetrating test, laboratory tests), field mapping (tension cracks, uplift, fault), and comprehensive interpretation of their results provided the reliable information of the subsurface structures including the failure surface. To further investigate the subsurface structure including the sliding zone, we performed high-resolution geophysical mapping in addition to the regional survey. High-resolution seismic velocity structures are employed for stability analysis because they provided more simplified layers of weathering rock, soft rock, and hard rock. Curved slip plane of the land creeping is effectively delineated with a shape of downslope sliding and upward pushing at the apex of high resistive bedrock in high-resolution electrical resistivity model with clay-mineral contents taken into account. Proposed survey steps and comprehensive interpretation schemes of the results from geological, geophysical, and geotechnical data should be effective for data sets collected in a similar environment to land-creeping susceptibility area.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of soil microbial fertilizer (SMF) containing Saccharomyces cerevisiae HS-1 and Streptococcus thermophiles HS-2 on the growth of creeping bentgrass. For the pot experiment, the treatments were as follows: no fertilizer (NF), control (3 N g/m2/month), SMF-1 (control+SMF 2 mL/m2/time), and SMF-2 (control+SMF 4 mL/m2/time). For the plot experiment, the treatments were as follows: NF, control, SMFp-1 (control+SMF 1 mL/m2/time), SMFp-2 (control+SMF 2 mL/m2/time), and SMFp-3 (control+SMF 4 mL/m2/time). In the pot experiment, visual turfgrass quality and the uptake amount of nitrogen (N) and potassium (K) were increased under the SMF treatments, whereas the content of chlorophyll (a, b, and a+b) and clipping yield were not considerably different compared with the control. In the pot experiment, the amount of SMF positively correlated with visual turfgrass quality and uptake amount of N and K. In the plot experiment, turfgrass density was increased by 12.9-19.2% under SMFp treatments compared with the control. These results indicated that the application of SMF containing Sa. cerevisiae HS-1 and St. thermophiles HS-2 improved the quality, density, and growth of creeping bentgrass via prompting the uptake of N and K.

Aggressiveness of Three Snow Mold Fungi on Creeping Bentgrass Cultivars under Controlled Environment Conditions

  • Snow molds are the most important winter diseases of turfgrass in the United States and Canada. Eight isolates of three snow mold fungal species (three isolates of Typhula ishikariensis, three of T. incarnata, and two of Microdochium nivale) were collected from infected turfgrasses on golf courses. The isolates were evaluated for their relative aggressiveness on three cultivars (L-93, Penncross, and Providence) of creeping bentgrass (Agrostis palustris) under the same controlled conditions. Four plant ages (15, 19, 23 and 27 week-old plants from germination to inoculation) were evaluated for their susceptibility to the three pathogens and for the recovery of the plants. Regardless of age or cultivar of the host plant, M. nivale was found to be more aggressive and faster to infect and colonize than Typhula species. After three weeks recovery, M. nivale-inoculated plants showed higher disease severity than plants inoculated with the two Typhula species. Plants infected by Typhula species displayed no significant difference in disease severity. As creeping bentgrass plants get older, the severity of disease caused by three snow molds gradually decreases. This effect was observed in all cultivars tested, suggesting expression of age-related resistance as the bentgrass plants matured.

잔디상토로서의 제지스럿지와 연탄재 이용에 관한 연구 (Use of Paper Mill Sludge and Briquet Ash as Root Zone Soil Mixtures for Thrfgrass Culture)

  • To determine the use of waste materials as root zone soil mixtures for turfgrass culture, the effects of paper mill sludge and briquet ash on physical and chemical properties of soil and growth of turfgrasses were examined. Three turfgrass species of zoysiagrass(Zoysia japonicaSteud.). kentycky bluegrass(Poa pratensis L. 'Ram I') and creeping bentgrass(Agrostis panistris Huds 'Persucross') were cultured in 32cm diameter plastic pots containing various soil mixtures. The basic ingredients used for mixtures included sand(SD), field soil(SL), paper mill sludge(PS), sphagnum peat moss(PM) and briquet ash(BA). Seven combinations using these ingreients were mixed in different percentage by volume as follows: SD+SL+PM(80:10.10), SH+SL+PS(80:10:10), SD-PM(80:20), SD+PS (80:20), SD+BA(80:20), SD+BA+PM(60:20:20) and SD+BA+PS(60:20:20). 1. Paper mill sludge showed pH of 6.6, more than 30% of organic matter content, and higher concentrations of total N, P, k, Ca, Mg and CEC. Bulk density, fild moisture capacity and electrical conductivity of soil mixtures were increased by the comimation of 10~20% PS by volume. 2. Briquet ash showed pH of 8.0, and higher levels of P, k, Ca and Mg than those of field soiks. Bulk density, field moisture capacity and hardenss of soil mixtures were increased but vertical water flow rate and electrical conductivity were decreased by the combination of 20% BA by volume. 3. Phytotoxic effects of PS and BA on growth of turfgrasses were not found. Shoot growth of all three species was higher in soil combination of SD+BA+PS than that of SD+SL+PM added with fertilizer. However, root growth was better in soil mixtures combined with PM. Soil mixtureomposed of 60% SD, 20% BA and 20% PS by volume was most effective on growth of all three species. 4. Paper mill sludge resulted in higher N level in the leaf tissue. The contents of heavy metals such as Cd and Ph did not vary significantly among soil mixtures and species. However, the Mn level was 2~3 times higher in plants growh in mixtures containing PM compared with others, and especially it was higher in creeping bentgrass than other species.

땅밀림 산사태의 발생특성에 관한 분석 - 지형 및 지질특성을 중심으로 - (Analysis on the Characteristics of the Landslide - With a Special Reference on Geo-Topographical Characteristics -)

  • 이 연구는 우리나라에서 발생한 땅밀림 산사태의 발생원인을 파악하여 이를 방지하기 위한 관리대책을 수립하기 위한 기초자료를 제공하기 위하여 수행하였다. 우리나라에서 발생된 땅밀림 산사태지는 총 29개소로 이 중 암반 땅밀림지 2개소(6.9%), 풍화암 땅밀림지 2개소(6.9%), 붕적토 땅밀림지 22개소(75.9%), 점질토 땅밀림지 3개소(10.3%)로 붕적토 땅밀림지가 가장 많았다. 땅밀림 산사태지의 암석 성인별 모암은 화성암류에서 화강암, 안산암, 유문암, 안산암류와 마산암 등이 4개소(13.8%), 퇴적암류에서는 석회암, 사암 및 혈암, 이암 등이 12개소(41.4%), 변성암류에서는 편암, 천매암, 미그마싸이트질편마암, 석영편암, 반상변정질편마암, 우백질화강암, 운모편암, 호상편마암, 화강암질편마암 등이 13개소(44.8%)로 변성암 지대에서 가장 많이 발생하였다. 발생 원인별로 직접적인 원인으로는 채석 및 토사채취에 의한 산각의 절취, 전원주택, 공장 및 도로건설을 위한 산각의 절취, 산지 상부의 밭경작, 저수지 축설을 위한 산지절취 등의 인위적 원인은 전체의 약 71%로 나타났으며, 하천 및 계곡의 포락 등에 의한 벼랑침식에 의한 지역이 약 7%, 지질적이거나 자연적인 현상에 의한 땅밀림 산사태지는 약 22%로 인위적 원인이 가장 높은 것으로 분석되었다.

한국산 보리수나무 개체군의 종자에 의한 정착과 라메트에 의한 유지 (Establishment by Seeds and Maintenance by Ramets in Elaeagnus umbellate Population)

  • The establishment by seeds and the maintenance by ramets of the autumn olive (Elaeagnus umbellata) population were investigated in the Namhansansung Provincial Park, Jungbu-myun, Kwangju-gun, Kyunggi-do. Seed production and germination rate were 3, 300 $seeds{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}yr^{-1}$ and 52%, respectively. The ramet formation in the population was classified into 4 types: stump type, creeping root type, lateral root type and secondary creeping root type. The subterranean creeping roots were 0.1~1.0 m in length, 4.5~14.0 mm in diameter and 0.06~0.2 m in soil depth. The number of ramets formed from a node was 1~21. The subterranean roots spread $5~509cm^2{\cdot}plant^{-1}{\cdot}yr^{-1}$, which began to be produced from 7~9 year-old individuals. The number of stems was 1~67 per stump, which was reduced by self-thinning from 2 to 14 year-old trees. The frequency distribution of stem diameter$(D_{30})$ showed a reverse J-shaped curve, suggesting that this population be maintained perpetually by their own ramets.

질산희토비료가 크리핑벤트그래스의 생육에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Bastnasite Nitrate Fertilizer on the Growth of Creeping Bentgrass)

  • 본 연구는 질산희토비료의 시비에 따른 크리핑 벤트그래스의 생육에 미치는 영향을 평가하기 위해 수행되었다. 처리구는 비료의 시비량에 따라 무처리구(NF), 복합비료 만을 시비한 대조구(CF), 질산희토비료의 처리량에 따라 $0.3{\cdot}g{\cdot}m^{-2}$, 0.5 $g{\cdot}m^{-2}$, 1.0 $g{\cdot}m^{-2}$을 각각 처리한 처리구1(RE-1), 처리구2(RE-2), 처리구3(RE-3)이었고, 질산희토비료만을 처리한 처리구4(RE-4)였고, 각 처리구는 난괴법, 3반복으로 수행하였고, 엽색지수 및 엽록소지수와 같은 잔디품질, 잔디밀도, 건물중 및 잔디양분함유량을 조사하였다. 시험 전후 토양분석결과, 질산희토비료에 따른 토양화학성의 변화는 나타나지 않아 질산희토비료의 시비가 골프코스의 토양화학성의 변화에 영향을 미치지 않음을 확인하였다. 엽색지수와 엽록소지수를 조사한 결과, 질산희토비료의 시비 에 따라 비슷하거나 약간 증가하였고, RE-2의 처리가 가장 좋은 잔디품질을 나타내었다. 잔디밀도 조사 결과, 질산희토비료의 시비에 단일시비에 의해 9%증가하였고, 관행시비에 첨가하여 시비할 경우 RE-2에서 22%증가하였으며, 잔디 건물중은 통계적 유의성을 나타내지 않았다. 잔디 성분 중 질소함량이 질산희토비료를 처리한 잔디에서 높게 나타났다. 이러한 결과들을 통해 질산희토비료는 크리핑벤트그래스에서 질소흡수가 촉진되고, 잔디밀도를 향상되어 잔디품질을 향상시키는 가능이 있는 것으로 평가되었다.

무인기를 활용한 산지 땅밀림 피해지점 탐지 및 모니터링 방안 연구 (A Study on Detection and Monitoring in land creeping area by Using the UAV)

  • 땅밀림 피해지에서 피해지점 및 균열 탐지, 피해규모를 효율적으로 분석하기 위해서 무인기를 활용한 피해지 탐지 및 모니터링 방안에 대해 본 연구에서 제시하였다. 땅밀림 피해지에서 무인기를 촬영하고 분석한 결과, 정사영상을 구축하면 피해지의 균열 탐지 및 규모를 파악할 수 있기 때문에 현장조사 전에 조사자 안전을 확보하고, 조사계획 수립에 효율적 활용이 가능하였다. 또한, 정사영상에서 지형정보를 추출하면 땅밀림 피해지 균열에 대한 정량적 분석이 가능하였다. 본 연구에서 시범적으로 적용한 대상지에서는 전체 균열 면적 1.01ha, 길이 1.07km, 평균 폭 10m, 단차범위 1~10m로 땅밀림 피해가 발생한 것으로 나타났다. 땅밀림 피해지에서는 정기적인 무인기 촬영을 통하여 지형변위를 탐지하고 피해 확산 방향, 규모 등에 대한 모니터링이 가능하기 때문에 복구계획 수립에 효율적으로 활용할 수 있다. 무인기를 이용하여 땅밀림 피해지에 시험 적용한 결과, 지형이 험준하고 위험한 산지에서 빠르고 쉽게 정성적 정량적 결과를 획득할 수 있는 장점이 있었다. 산사태, 토석류, 땅밀림과 같은 산지토사재해 현장에서 무인기 활용가치가 높기 때문에 관련 산업분야 발전에 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

  • This experiment was carried out to investigate the mixing ratio of soil amending materials such as peat perlite, active carbon and zeolite for improvements of physiochemical properties of topsoil, of creeping bentgrass (Agrostis palustris var. Penncross). The results were as followed :1.Appropriate addition of soil improvement material was increased the soil porosity due to the decrease of bulk density. Over supplement of soil improvement material induced the decrease of infiltration of water into soil.2Content of organic matter was increased in treatment of peat and active carbon . Soil reaction was decreased in peat treatment, but increased in perlite, zeolite and active carbon. Exchangeable cation capacity was increased by the addition of all kinds of soil improvement materials used in this experiment.

The results of this experiment were surnrnarized as follows; 1.Nitrogen content of clippings was increased by the treatment of peat and active carbon. hut the other phosphorus, potassium, calcium and magnesium content were increased in addition of,5% to 10% of peat, and 2.5% to 5% of active carbon. 10% of perlite. and 4% of zeolite 2.Fast growth and good quality of bentgrass were showed at the addition of 10% peat. l0% perlite.2.5~% active carbon, and 4% zeolite But over treatment of peat and active carbon induced inhi-bition of root growth and occurrence of disease.
