In the defense software domain where large-scale software products in various application areas need to be built, reusing software is regarded as one of the important practices to build software products efficiently and economically. There have been many efforts to apply various methods to support software reuse in the defense software domain. However, developers in the defense software domain still experience many difficulties and face obstacles in reusing software assets. In this paper, we analyze practical problems of software reuse in the defense software domain, and define core requirements to solve those problems. To meet these requirements, we are currently developing the Component Grid system, a reuse-support system that provides a developer-centric software reuse environment. We have designed an architecture of Component Grid, and defined essential elements of the architecture. We have also developed the core approaches for developing the Component Grid system: a semantic-tagging-based requirement tracing method, a reuse-knowledge representation model, a social-network-based asset search method, a web-based asset management environment, and a wiki-based collaborative and participative knowledge construction and refinement method. We expect that the Component Grid system will contribute to increase the reusability of software assets in the defense software domain by providing the environment that supports transparent and efficient sharing and reuse of software assets.

The software reuse is a prospective way to improve software productivity and quality but not applied very well in practice, because there is no quantitative metric for software quality. In this paper we proposed the quantification of the reuse of software that we can measure the possibility of the reuse by applying the reuse assessment metric to the module after the extraction of a module from existing software. For measuring the module that can be reused, we divided the factors of quality by the generality, simplicity, maintainability and modularity, and identified and measured the module by the factors and finally decided the possibility of the software reuse. The advantage of the proposed metric is that we can find the inappropriate reuse of module exactly at the beginning by measuring quantitatively the module to be reused.
Despite agile methods and software reuse being distinct approaches, there has been a growing amount of research on combining these approaches. Although Scrum is one of the most popular agile methods, reuse has not been actively supported. In this paper, we identify a new type of reusable Scrum assets, simplify the backlog process and propose a backlog factoring technique by extending task factoring to support reuse in the Scrum method. In addition, we can apply the proposed technique and show prototyping of backlog reuse in e-business applications.
Software development of large scale program such as Operating System or University Total Information System is lengthy and costly process. In order to reduce cost, time and risk, there is currentry general acceptance of the need for Software Reuse System during the whole development cycles. In this paper, (from a practical point of view), the problem of existing reuse system methodology is analyzed and an implement method of software reuse system is presented. Also using this method Application Program Reuse System(APRS) which supports all phase of software life cycles is designed and implemented. This application program reuse system which is based on common language is considerably shown to reduce communication Error of requirement specification between systems analyst and end-user.
Even though many approaches for reuse have been introduced, software engineers are still hesitating to reuse existing software components. Among various reasons for the phenomena, the most significant one is that existing approaches failed to give substantial benefit for the reduction of developers' effort in reusing software assets. To solve this problem, we introduce a custom reuse model utilizing diverse aspects of components specified by RAS and services oriented architecture. We also carried out a case study to demonstrate its feasibility and evaluated it by comparing it to an existing code-based software reuse process. The proposed reuse model helps in the reduction of effort in reusing existing components by decreasing the time for searching and understanding them. Compared to other approaches such as product line engineering, our approach for software reuse using MPC does not require much initial work for implementing the reuse model in different projects. It is of interest to software engineers who are worried about heavy investment, which can cause the delay in their usual development work. Furthermore, the proposed reuse model is not mutually exclusive with other approaches for software reuse such as CBSD or product line engineering. It can accelerate the benefits gained from them.
There has been a growing amount of research on combining Agile methods and software reuse. Most of it introduces Agile into software product line rather than software reuse into Scrum method. Meanwhile, some assets such as backlogs and incremental artifacts in Scrum development are reusable. In this paper, we identify a backlog binder that aggregates reusable Scrum assets and proposes a backlog binder reuse technique. In addition, we can apply the proposed technique and show prototyping of backlog binder reuse in job matching applications.

Reusing software is a promising solution which overcomes the software crisis in the software development environment by improving the software productivity, reliability and maintainability. To develop software, some developers reuse existing softwares, but without an adequate design environment, software reuse would not be applicable. The purpose of this paper is to design and implement the X system, and measure empirically its resuability in the development phases. The development processes of the X system used a software reuse design guidelines within the Object-Oriented Design method and the Ada programming language. In order to measure the resuability, metrics was proposed and applied for each phase of development. The results of this paper address some reusability measurement that may be used as basic data when estimating the amount of reuse for a combined development project of military applications.

Since software reuse and agile development methods are seen as ways to shorten development time and accept frequent requirement changes, respectively, there has been growing interest and research on integrating these approaches. But despite the increasing number of software companies which have successfully adopted agile development methods, there has been little research on reuse in agile methods to further improve productivity. In this paper, we identify a new type of reuse asset and propose a task factoring technique by taking advantage of iteration characteristics to support reuse in agile software development methods. In addition, we can apply the proposed technique and show prototyping of task reuse in a video rental application.

Component specification languages in consideration of reuse are essential factor in classification, verification and retrieval of components. A number of legacy specification languages have already been used, however, they are complex and include many necessary elements in the specification for implementation. In this paper, we present XML-based component specification and software architecture specification language to solve these problems of legacy specification languages. The presented specification languages consist of component specification, which is composed of signature specification, interface specification and message specification, and software architecture specification providing graphical notations and textural notations. Component specification supports component retrieval with behavioral match and black-box reuse of component. In addition to this, it improves the efficiency of retrieval and document management with XML-based component specification. Software architecture specification supports the structural reuse of architecture, which is white-box reuse, through mesage-based architecture specification.
Gaming is an old humans' habit. Games help in logical development and encourage learning of theoretical and practical concepts. Besides they offer entertainment and challenge. The advent of the personal computer changed this tradition. Every year new challenges arise in a digital format, which lead the young and adults to spend hours in front of a computer or TV screen in an attempt to overcome hurdles and reach an objective. Quality, sophistication, and constant innovation are attained through complex computer software that almost has an obligation to improve as each new title is released, due to this game development becomes a challenge. Considering that a game title is software and thus faces the same restrictions of business applications, this article intends to analyze, under the optics of reuse, if game development resorts to reuse, and where and how this happens.
