Preferred Sensation of Adolescents according to their Lifestyle and Individualism/Collectivism (청소년의 라이프스타일과 개인주의-집단주의에 따른 선호감성 분석)

  • The purpose of the study was to investigate the lifestyle and individualism/collectivism of adolescents nowadays and the relationship to preferred sensation. We collected 1386 middle and high school students' data which have the answers about lifestyle, individualism/collectivism, self-esteem, school location, family members and other socio-statistical variables. The results are followings; The types of adolescents' lifestyle composed of 5 clusters, which are Pursuit of hedonic (18.9%), Adventure materialism (19.9%), Depending and pursuit of entertainment (21.4%), Internet & study (22.5%), and Strong will - economic (17.3%). Distribution of individualism/collectivism is even, and Egoist (29.8%) which belong to vertical individualism is the biggest portion. Adolescent's lifestyle has relationship to the external factors, such as school location and family income, while individualism/collectivism does rather to adolescent's own nature, such as gender and grade. Their lifestyle than their individualism/ collectivism is connected with their preferred sensation more.

An Analysis of the Family/Kinship Rites in Urban Area (도시지역의 가조/친족의례 실태 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate actual conditions of family/kin ritual transition and to find out relationships to socio-economic variables. For this purpose, 716 subjects of urban family were interviewed with questionnaires. The results of this study may be summarized as follows: 1. It was discovered the pervasive themes of family/kin ritual transition: westernization, commercialization, socialization, and cultural anomie. 2. In contemporary family/kin rites, traditional structure coexists with external westernized aspects under the influnce of industrialization and commercialization. The rites were continued to provide a place where participants reproduce the ideology of patriarchal family group, especially the strong parent-child ties and narrow kin relationships. 3. Respondents who support traditional ritual style are old, lower class, and Buddhist. 4. Respondents who support westernization and socialization of family/kin rites are young, higher class, and Christian. But family/kin rites are not affected by sex relatively.

The effect of family strengths and wives' self-esteem on depression among married women (도시가족의 건강성 및 주부의 자아존중감이 우울에 미치는 영향 -전업주부와 취업주부의 차이를 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of family strengths and self-esteem on depression among married women who have adolescents in middle and high school of their first child in Korea. To measure of depression using the CESD(the center for epidemiologic studies depression scale), the degree of husewives' depression was relatively higher than that of employed married women. As for the related variables, educational degree, S.E.S(socio-economic status), self-esteem turned out significant in housewives' depression. But, in the case of employed married women, these were not significant. Therefore, we are confirmed that the etiologic model of this study was more proper to housewives than employed married women. Finally, in both cases of housewives and employed married women, the effects of family strengths were mediated or moderated by self-esteem in predicting depression. The results of this study called for the encouraging of married women's self-esteem, the parti ipation of various social programs for housewives, and the programs to strengthening of their family relationships.

The effects of Patient Trust on Relationship Commitment in Healthcare Settings (의료서비스에 대한 환자신뢰가 관계몰입에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of provider and consumer characteristics, and patient trust on relational commitment among healthcare customers of an university hospital, and to suggest some implications for improving customer relation management of hospitals. Data were collected from 250 patients of an university hospital located in Ulsan using structured self-administered questionnaire. Major result of the analysis is as follows: First, study variables are significantly varied by age and income among socio-economic factors. Second, assurance, and empathy among provider characteristics and customer satisfaction and reputation among consumer characteristics are found to be significant affecting factors on patient trust. Third, trust affects significantly both on re-visit and recommendation among relationship commitment, while reputation affects on re-visit and customer satisfaction and reputation affect on recommendation. Above results imply that relationship management strategy for enhancing patient trust is crucial to improve competitiveness of hospitals in turbulent competition environment.

The Effect of Emotional Labor on Stress Coping Style and Psychological Burnout among Call Center Employees

  • The aim of this study is to measure the degrees of emotional labor and to empirically analyze how emotional labor affects individual's stress coping style and psychological burnout. The results were as follows. First, the call center employees were actually experiencing emotional labor and it was shown that the deep acting was higher than the surface acting. Second, the degree of experiencing stress coping style and psychological burnout appeared differently depending on the socio-economic variables of the employee. Third, despite the differences in the direction, there is a correlation between emotional labor, stress coping style, and psychological burnout. Fourth, the characteristics of the employees and emotional labor clearly affected stress coping style and psychological burnout. Therefore, companies will have to provide various psychological treatments and training programs for call center employees, and a change in social awareness, where people take the service industry workers' kindness for granted, is required as well.

A Typology of Leisure Time with Whom of the Married (기혼자의 여가시간 공유대상 유형:유형별 특성과 유형 결정요인)

  • Leisure time may be used to participate in activities alone, with family, or with other people. The purpose of this research was to identify types of leisure time with whom and determinants of the types. The data source for this research was the '2009 Time Use Survey' conducted by the Korea National Statistical Office (KNSO). The item 'people involved in each activity' was surveyed for the first time by KNSO in 2009. 3,712 diaries completed by married adults aged 20 to 59 years were analyzed using chi-square, cluster analysis, and logistic regression analysis. Leisure time with whom was classified into four types based on three categories of leisure time (alone, with family, with others): "individual-oriented leisure," "family-oriented leisure," "others-oriented leisure," and "vulnerable leisure." These types were different by various socio-economic variables. And gender, work time, the presence of preschool children, and household type were identified as important determinants for the types.

A Study on Materialism of University Students (대학생의 물질주의 가치관에 대한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the influences of the materialism of university students. The data were collected for 331 university students. The data were analyzed by the package of SPSS program. The methods of analyses included basic descriptive categorical analysis (frequencies, means, percentages) as well as t-test, one way ANOVA, and multiple regressions. To summarize major findings from the analysis: (1) A significant difference was found in the materialism of university students by the socio-economic variables such as the amount of pocket money. (2) A significant difference was found in the materialism of university students by more self-esteem than life satisfaction. (3) A significant difference was found in the materialism of university students by parent's materialism and competitive achievement pressure. (4) According to the multiple regression analysis, it was found that the materialism of university students was influenced by the order of self-esteem, parent's materialism and competitive achievement pressure.

Efficiency Analysis of Organic Farm Management (유기농업 실천농가의 경영효율성 분석)

  • This paper evaluates the technical efficiency of organic farm management practices and studies its main determinants in Hongdongmyeon of Hongsung county, Chungnam province. The analysis is performed in two stages. First, the efficiency is measured via the nonparametric "Data Envelopment Analysis" (DEA) technique. The DEA models are constructed not only to assess the overall technical efficiency of organic fanning practices but also to evaluate the management efficiencies. In a second stage critical determinants of efficiency are determined using a Tobit model. In this analysis the focus is on technical and socio-economic variables. The analytical results show that technically efficient farms is about 13 percent and the mean technical efficiency is found to be 0.73 indicating that many farms are not operating at an efficient scale.

Adolescents′Self-Esteem and Materialism as related to Clothing and flood Behavior (남.녀 청소년의 자아존중감 및 물질주의 가치관과 의생활 . 식생활 행동)

  • The purpose of this study was two folds; One is to explore the adolescents'self-esteem, materialism, clothing and food behavior according to their gender and socio-economic status(SES). The other is to examine the relations among those variables. The subjects were 530 high school students(246 boys; 284 girls) in Seoul. Data were collected through questionnaires. As results, boys and adolescents from higher SES show higher self-esteem compared to girls and those from low SES. There was no gender difference in materialism, but adolescents from lower SES haute higher materialism. Girls buy clothes and eat out more frequently and spend more money on them. As anticipated, there were significant negative correlations between self-esteem and materialism. Moreover, adolescents who hale higher self-esteem and lower materialism tend to behave more desirable patterns of colthing and food behavior.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate かe factors related to the environment-oriented consumer behavior, and to analyze the effects of environmental knowledge, perception of environmental problems, and environment-oriented attitude on the environment-oriented consumer behavior. The data used in this study were collected through questionnaires on 535 wives living in Cheju City. The data were analvzed by using SPSS WIN program. The summaries of this study are as follows. Using behaviors was influenced by age and family income, but buying and disposing behavior are not influenced by socio-economic variables of wives. Environmental knowledge only has effects on disposing behaviors, and environment-oriented attitude behavior has effects on buying, using, and disposing behavior. But the perception of environmental problems hasn't effects on them. Wives' environment-oriented behavior are more effected by environment-oriented attitude than perception of environmental problems. In buying behavior, environment-oriented attitude is the most influential factor, and the reference group is the second influential factor. But in disposing behavior, the reference group is the most influential factor, and environment-oriented attitude is かe second influential factor.
