  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between the centrality and the research performance by conducting the social network analysis for the social science journal in the last 10 years. As a result of the relationship analysis, the correlation between centrality and research productivity was highly correlated in most groups, but the impact factor and frequency of citations were not significant. In relation with the comprehensive research such as a H-index, middle productive group correlation was more significant than the upper productive group.

  • The cooperation among industry, academy and government is the main factor for world leading trade country. In particular, many papers and research is greatly helpful for finding the needs of industry and establishing strategies. Academic activities have significantly contributed the development of trade. In recent time, the approach based on complexity, convergence and consilience in increasing in academic fields for more mutual understanding and exchange of ideas. For this reason, joint research is necessary in trade. In this research, author can find not only the trend of joint research but also the centrality of trade researchers in the excellent journals in Korea by use of Social Network Analysis.

  • In this paper, we propose a topic network analysis approach which integrates topic modeling and social network analysis. We collected 2,039 scientific papers from five top journals in the field of data mining published from 1996 to 2015, and analyzed them with the proposed approach. To identify topic trends, time-series analysis of topic network is performed based on 4 intervals. Our experimental results show centralization of the topic network has the highest score from 1996 to 2000, and decreases for next 5 years and increases again. For last 5 years, centralization of the degree centrality increases, while centralization of the betweenness centrality and closeness centrality decreases again. Also, clustering is identified as the most interrelated topic among other topics. Topics with the highest degree centrality evolves clustering, web applications, clustering and dimensionality reduction according to time. Our approach extracts the interrelationships of topics, which cannot be detected with conventional topic modeling approaches, and provides topical trends of data mining research fields.

  • We analyzed the structures and properties of the global financial market networks using social network analysis approach. The Minimum Spanning Tree (MST) lengths and networks of the global financial markets based on the correlation coefficients have been analyzed. Firstly, similar to the previous studies on the global stock indices using MST length, the diversification effects in the global multi-asset portfolio can disappear during the crisis as the correlations among the asset class and within the asset class increase due to the system risks. Second, through the network visualization, we found the clustering of the asset class in the global financial markets network, which confirms the possible diversification effect in the global multi-asset portfolio. Meanwhile, we found the changes in the structure of the network during the crisis. For the last one, in terms of the degree centrality, the stock indices were the most influential to other assets in the global financial markets network, while in terms of the betweenness centrality, Gold, Silver and AUD. In the practical perspective, we propose the methods such as MST length and network visualization to monitor the change of the correlation risk for the risk management of the multi-asset portfolio.

  • As South Korean large business groups, also known as Chaebol, have broadened their influence in the domestic economy, it is important to analyze the influence of internal transactions among Chaebol affiliates on their performance. In this paper, relationship between internal transactions and efficiency of Chaebol affiliates has been analyzed. Top five Chaebol groups in South Korea are selected; they include Samsung, Hyundai Motors, LG, SK, and Lotte group. Based on internal transactions among affiliates, social networks are constructed for each Chaebol group to analyze centrality, network structures and cliques. Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) was conducted to examine the efficiency of the Chaebol affiliates. Then, correlations between the degree centrality and the efficiency of Chaebol affiliates were analyzed, and the network structures of Chaebol groups are presented. The result shows that positive correlations between degree centrality and efficiency are observed among four Chaebol Groups. This paper shows that the Social Network Analysis (SNA) techniques can be used in the empirical research for the analysis of internal transactions of Chaebol groups.

  • Unlike the past, efforts must be made to interpret physical distribution from a network perspective as the service area expands spatially. In addition, logistics networks are undergoing rapid changes due to various changes in the environment. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze the changes in the structure of maritime cargo and the centrality of ports using social network analysis. Using the trade data of domestic maritime at five-year intervals, we investigated changes in the network structure and identified the main factors that affect the centrality of domestic ports. Ports with the highest centrality, which is seen as a port that plays the role of an intermediary, emerged in the order of Busan and Ulsan. This study predicts patterns of domestic cargo trade over the next 20 years based on changes in port centrality and understanding of maritime cargo network, and can be used as reference materials for risk preparation.

  • This paper proposes a job matching function that calculates the job matching probability of a job-seeker to an employer taking the working conditions of a job-seeker and an employer into account. In addition, this study analysis the degree of centrality that means interactions of a job-seeker and an employer utilizing social network analysis. The results are follows. First, a degree of centrality is found to be severely concentrated in certain job-seekers or certain employers; in addition, there are many job-seekers and employers who have no matching results. Second, according to decision tree analysis, characteristics of a job-seeker that influences the degree of centrality are gender, age and degree of education in order of importance. The characteristics of a employer that influences the degree of centrality are proposed salary, industry classification and firm size in order of importance.

  • This study is aim to research trend of private security and to suggest direction of improvement to sector of private security. This study has been to analyzed to be useful social network analysis(particularly Degree Centrality and Clossness Centrality) for using typical research method about trend of academic subject. As a result of Degree Centrality and Clossness Centrality, Individual factors such as Job Stress and Job satisfaction of private security are more keyword than institutional factors and policy factors such as Security Services Industry Act and training for Private Security guards. It means that research trend of private security are to study Individual factors rather than institutional factors and policy factors. But, this study is a limit as follows; First, An object of study is only to searching article in National Assembly Liberary. A follow-up studies are need to expand the range of an object of study for private security.

  • The purpose of this study is to decide the optimal location site of the agricultural wholesale market in Gyeonggi-do. In this paper, methods of social network analysis are adopted to calculate the betweenness centrality, degree centrality, prestige centrality. Methods of social network analysis can be a good alternative to discover characteristics of a complicated method by visualizing relationships among nodes(cities). The results of this study are as below : First, the result of social network and present locations are not so different. Second, optimal locations of the agricultural wholesale market in Gyeonggi-do are Pyeongtaek-si, Suwon-si, Ansan-si, Seongnam-si, Hwaseong-si, Yongin-si, Icheon-si, Anyang-si etc.

  • The purpose of this study was to find out the characteristics of the direct workers and the organizations delivering services to the children in low-income families, and to identify major factors that affect the number and degree centrality of service network. The research sample was 141 organizations. and the data were collected by a survey questionnaire and analyzed by UCINET V and multiple regression. The results show that the classification of organizations, the work-autonomy, the license of social welfare have a significant effect on the number of network organization, and the license of social welfare, the subjective body of organizations, the number of children in charge have a significant effect on the degree centrality of service network, among the independent variables. Based on the research results, implications for the future practice are discussed.
