  • System Entity Structure/Model Base (SES/MB) enhances organizing model families and storing and reusing model components in the multifaceted system modeling. However, the real world can be described not only an individual system but also a collection of those systems, which is called system of systems (SoS). Because SES/MB has a limitation to simulate the SoS using HLA/RTI, an extended framework is required to simulate it. Therefore, this paper proposes System of Systems Entity Structure/Federate Base (SoSES/FB) for simulation in a distributed environment (HLA/RTI). The proposed method provides the library of federates (FB) and System of System Entity Structure (SoSES) formalism, which represents structural knowledge of a collection of simulators. It also provides a methodology for the development process of distributed simulation. The paper introduces the anti-missile defense simulation using the proposed SoSES/FB.

  • U.S. Congress established the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award (MBNQA) program in 1987 to recognize U.S. organizations for their achievements in quality and business performance and to raise awareness about the importance of quality and performance excellence as a competitive edge. The Baldrige Award was envisioned as a standard of excellence that would help U.S. organizations achieve world-class quality. Recently the U.S, Congress approved legislation that made education and health care organizations eligible to participate in the Award Program. These criteria are applied to evaluate two academic departments (Computer Science & Industrial Systems and Electrical Engineering) at Yonsei University. It was an informal evaluation performed by the undergraduate students who took quality Engineering course. Evaluated total scores turn out to be 522.5 and 548.5 for both, respectively. According to the MBNQA diagnosis, this level of score represents that there are some areas or work units which need to be improved. We hightlight them so that they can be used as feedback information.

  • An efficient measurement methodology is proposed to construct the scattering parameters of a multi-port device using a four-port vector network analyzer (VNA) without the external un-terminated ports. By using the four-port VNA, the reflected waves from the un-terminated ports could be minimized. The proposed method significantly enhances the accuracy of the S-parameters with less number of measurements compared to the results of classical renormalization technique which uses two-port VNA. The proposed method is validated from the measured data with the coupled 8-port micro-strip lines.

  • As ship's propulsion shafting system has been complicated, many linear methods that have been used until now are not sufficient enough to produce proper solutions and these solutions are ofter unreasonable. So we need to solve nonlinear systems, and many methods for solving nonlinear vibration system have been developed. In this study, the propulsion shafting system was modeled with Duffing's nonlinear vibration system and multi-degree-of-freedom, and analyzed by using Quasi-Newton method. And for the purpose of confirming the reliability of the calculating results for nonlinear forced torsional vibration of the propulsion shafting system, the nonlinear calculated results were compared with the linear calculated ones for ship's propulsion shafting system. In the result, for analysis of the forced torsional vibration of the propulsion systems with nonlinear elements, the modified Newton's method is confirmed reasonable.

  • The Stewart platform manipulator is a closed-kinematis chain robot manipulator that is capable of providing high st겨ctural rigidity and positional accuracy. However, this is a complex structure, so controllability of the system is not so good. In this paper, it introduces a new robust motion control algorithm using partial state feedback for a class of nonlinear systems in the presence of modelling uncertainties and external disturbances. The major contribution of this work introduces the development and design of robust observer for the slate and the perturbation w.hich is integrated into a variable structure controller(VSC) structure. The combination of controller/observer gives rise to the robust routine called sliding mode control with sliding perturbation observer(SMCSPO). The optimal gains of SMCSPO are easily obtained by genetic algorithm. Simulation and experiment are presented in order to apply to the stewart platform manipulator. There results show highly' accuracy and performance.

  • To resolve the knowledge acquisition bottleneck in the expert systems, the connectionist expert systems have been proposed, which facilitate learning capability of neural networks. This paper is to modify Gallant's connectionist expert network so that it can be applied to more general problems : 1) The hidden nodes are added between the input nodes and an output node, so that the back propagation learning algorithm is used instead of perception based Pocket algorithm. 2) Inference engine is thus modified by modeling that a node may have uncertainties due to unknown inputs.

  • The evolution of bipedal robots was the foundation stone for development of Humanoid robots. The highly complex and non-linear dynamic of human walking made it very difficult for researchers to simulate the gait patterns under different conditions. Simple controllers were developed initially using basic mechanics like Linear Inverted Pendulum (LIP) model and later on advanced into complex control systems with dynamic stability with the help of high accuracy feedback systems and efficient real-time optimization algorithms. This paper illustrates a number of significant mathematical models and controllers developed so far in the field of bipeds and humanoids. The key facts and ideas are extracted and categorized in order to describe it in a comprehensible structure.

  • The WiMedia Alliance has specified a Distributed Medium Access Control (D-MAC) protocol based on UWB for high speed wireless home networks and Wireless USB. In this paper, firstly, the fair SoQ-based Distributed Reservation Protocol (DRP) for D-MAC is analyzed. And a novel SoQ-based relay transmission protocol is proposed to overcome DRP conflicts fast. In the proposed protocol, each device executes the Satisfaction of QoS (SoQ) time slot allocation algorithm independently. And, in order to give the loser device due to DRP conflicts another chance to maintain QoS resources, the proposed relay transmission protocol helps the device reserve another indirect link maintaining the required QoS resources via a relay node.

  • We propose the Distance Communication System that is not only Making Distance Learning Contents but also controlling intellectual moving object. In order to make Distance Learning Contents (Video Contents), we must follow the motion of lecturer. In the former Systems and a person operates Video-Camera because it's not enough to follow the motion, In this research and we make the systems that can match the motion of lecturer naturally. The systems use Intelligent Space software and so the systems recognize lecturer's motion automatically and order Pan/Tilt-Type Camera to follow the motion. And we made possible to operate an intellectual moving object with application of this system.

  • This paper makes a study of the Shapley value in cooperative fuzzy games, games with fuzzy coalitions, which enable the representation of players' participation degree to each coalition. The Shapley value has so far been introduced only in an class of fuzzy games where a coalition value is not monotone with respect to each player's participation degree. We consider a more natural class of fuzzy games such that a coalition value is monotone with regard to each player's participation degree. The properties of fuzzy games in this class are investigated. Four axioms of Shapley functions are described and a Shapley function of a fuzzy fame in the class is given.
