A purpose of this study is to suggest distribution tariff regulation that encourages private investment on the energy efficiency industry of Ukraine. As the electricity market reform and the regulation introduction to encourage energy efficiency are ongoing in Ukraine, it is best time for Korean companies to enter to the market. Therefore, studies on the regulation and the market of Ukraine are required in advance. A simulation of private investment feasibility on AMI business is conducted on one of 32 DSOs in Ukraine. Through the simulation, the directions of RAB tariff regulation, which is the core of the distribution service tariff regulation, were derived. It is essential for DSOs to permit AMI lease assets, introduced by private investors, as regulated assets while other regulations are maintained as it is for investment. This study provides a practical basis by presenting objective data through simulation. It is expected to be helpful for overseas expansion of companies if the study is expanded to the various energy efficiency industries.

In this paper, a 3-phase inverter output waveform generator based on SPWM control was developed to verify the performance of the LCL filter. In order to obtain a test signal for verifying the performance of the filter, first, a DSP-based 3-phase SPWM signal generation algorithm was developed, and then a three-phase voltage source inverter circuit was designed using three half-bridge gate drivers. Next, one LCL filter was experimentally fabricated to verify the effectiveness of the developed SPWM-based 3-phase inverter output waveform generator as a test signal generator, and a DSP-based performance verification system was experimentally constructed. Finally, by comparing the three-phase voltage waveform before and after the LCL filter obtained in the output control experiment with the given time ratio, the effectiveness of the SPWM-based 3-phase inverter output waveform generator was verified.

The horizontal force transfer to the turbine and substructure of a wind power generation system is a very important factor in maintaining the safety of the system, but it is inevitably vulnerable to large-scale coastal disasters such as earthquakes and typhoons. Wind power generation systems built on the coast or far offshore are very disadvantageous in terms of economic feasibility due to an increase in initial investment cost because a more robust design is required when installed in areas vulnerable to coastal disasters. In this study, the GIS method was used to select the optimal site for a wind farm from the viewpoint of reducing the risk of coastal disasters. The current status of earthquakes in the West and South Seas of Korea, and the path and intensity of typhoons affecting or passing through the West and South Seas were also analyzed. Accordingly, the optimal offshore wind farm site with the lowest risk of coastal disasters has been selected and will be used as basic research data for offshore wind power projects in the region in the future.

The growing integration of intermittent renewable sources like offshore wind energy increases the need for transferring electric energy over long distances, which may include sea crossings. One of the solutions available for bulk electric power transmission across large distances encompassing wide and deep sea is using HVDC submarine power cables. However, there are no standards or research related to the calculation of the continuous allowable current with various ocean conditions of a DC power cable that does not have an alternating magnetic field. In this study, assuming the typical two types of subsea cable models and two areas of the south coast and the west coast marine conditions, a continuous allowable current simulation of DC cables was performed. As a simulation result, the DC cable continuous allowable current find out the gradient reduction characteristics based on subsea base depth.

In the distribution system, there are multiple power protection systems such as circuit breakers at substations, and reclosers, minimum circuit ampacities, fault interrupters on distribution lines. They are widely used to prevent partial outages, cascading power failure or blackout so that other healthy systems could maintain the integrity in case of the instant fault or permanent failure on the power lines. However, when a fault happens, it could cause a major black out due to the lack of the protection cooperation between the protection relay of the circuit breaker at a substation and a protection system on the distribution lines. To achieve the power system integrity better, it is required to develop the circuit breaker which can be operational within 1 cycle(16ms). In this study, the high speed circuit breaker which is filled up with eco-friendly gas is developed. This equipment achieved an excellent test results based on IEC 62271-111 standard. It is respected that this equipment would contribute to prevent the wide area blackout by isolating a fault area quicker and faster.

The small electric vehicles equipped with V2X(vehicle to everything) systems may provide more information and function to the existing navigation system of the vehicle. The key components of V2X technology include V2V (vehicle to vehicle), V2N(vehicle to network) and V2I (vehicle to infrastructure). This study is to design and implementation of VI type E-PTO which is interfaced with external equipments, the work designs the components of E-PTO such as DC/DC converter, DC/AC converter, battery bidirectional charging system etc. Also, it implements the devices and control systems for driving. The test results of VI type E-PTO components showed allowable 10% requirements of transient voltage variation rate and recovery time within 100ms for start/stop and normal operation.

A new axial flux permanent magnet machine with soft magnetic composited cores is proposed for electric vehicle application in this paper. The windings and soft magnetic composited cores can be designed to form a very compact structure, and; thus, the torque density can be improved greatly. To obtain the a good flux concentrating ability, two toroidally wound internal stator machines are designed and analyzed, and the designed motor is with NdFeB magnet for high-performance electric vehicle application. The 3-D finite-element method is used to analyze the electromagnetic parameter and performance, for performance comparison, a commercial axial flux permanent magnet machine is used. The proposed motor reduced weight about 5.8%, produced torque higher than about 8Nm for existing motor.

It is always desirable that the continuation of power flow through the lines should not be interrupted for a long time. The optimized guideline of reclosers on distribution lines is known to improve the reliability of power systems, the protection functions on distribution systems heavily rely on the number and placement of such reclosers. This study reviewed the effect of using protection settings methodology with the number of reclosing operations to reduce the damage sustained during faults on distribution networks. The aim of the study is to determine the number of reclosing operations and fault current conditions based on simulation data of PSCAD/EMTDC for standard distribution networks. It is found that the determination of the number of operations on reclosers, which are the protection function of feeders, helped to optimize the operation and reliability of distribution networks.

Switching surges are a common type of phenomenon that occur on any sort of power system network. These are more pronounced on long transmission lines and in high voltage converter stations. At AC/DC hybrid transmission lines, the insulation coordination of such lines is mainly dictated by the peak level of switching surges, the most dangerous of which include three phase line energization and AC/DC converter station. The power system structure consist of AC/DC hybrid transmission lines which is combination of AC 765kV and ±500kV HVDC 1 bipole system for contingency analysis. The power system under study and its components are simulated using EMTDC software package, the effects of the various AC/DC mixing power lines are reviewed. The developed models of EMTDC conversion lines based on combination of AC/DC system are simulated and the characteristics of switching surge over-voltage from its results are discussed.
Transition studies have been gaining attention among innovation researchers from the early 1990's mainly influenced by emerging global agendas on sustainability. In this paper, we review research issues and trends focusing on four prominent transition theories - Technological innovation systems, Multi-level perspective, Transition management and Strategic niche management. After reviewing main characteristics, research trends and debates of each theory from established literatures, we conduct comparative analysis of these theories and suggest integrated framework that can be considered when modeling transition policy. This integrated framework is applied to the case study on smart-grid policy of Korea.
