  • People sleep about one-third of their lives and their sleep time varies according to age. Adult usually sleep 8 hours a day. However, that dose not guarantee good sleep. The cause of this is due to sleep disorders like snoring and sleep apnea. In this paper, the smart pillow for detecting snoring among sleep disorders is investigated. This pillow consists of two microphones located on the left and right side of the pillow. For simple detecting, the snoring signal was converted into the pulse using a peak detection circuit. The decision of the snoring occurrence was by pulse duration. The accuracy of the snoring detection was about 97%. The research results show that the smart pillow can be use to detect the snoring during sleeping.

  • Severe snoring can lead to OSA(Obstructive Sleep Apnea), which can lead to life-threatening cases, and snoring can lead to serious pernicious relationships. In order to solve these snoring problems, several types of smart pillows have recently been released. The core technology is snoring discrimination technology, ie, a technique for determining whether snoring is included in the input sound. In this paper, we propose a snoring detection method to apply to a smart pillow. After extracting the features of the snoring sound from the input signal, we discriminate the snoring using these features and SVM. In order to measure the performance of the proposed method, comparative experiments with the existing methods are performed. The experimental results show about 6% better discrimination performance than the existing method.

  • The sleep measurement system is important to detect sleep disturbances as early as possible to be diagnosed and treat the diseases quickly. This paper presents design of system to measure the quality of sleep by using nine accelerometer sensors embedded in the pillow to detect the acceleration of limb movement, e.g. head movements. The participants were asked to sleep using a smart pillow for five days. While sleeping, participants are recorded using a camera on a computer. After awakening, participants were asked to fill out a post-sleep questionnaire. Spearman's correlation was performed to test the correlation of gross body movement per minute rate with post-sleep questionnaire questions. Finally, the seven score of sleep quality were tested with gross body movement per minute rate. The result is the higher gross body movement per minute during sleep represented lower sleep quality.

  • This paper is about a smart pillow, and a smart diaper. The smart pillow analyzes the frequency of a baby's cry and applies its digital value to the band pass filter. If the crying is between 300-600Hz, the white noise comes out. The smart diaper alerts to the smart phone if the humidity outside the diaper is over 99%, or the temperature is over $29^{\circ}C$ after the defecation of the baby. The smart diaper also prevents choking of the baby by alert to smart phone if they are in a dangerous position by sensing the location of the infant.

  • Specialists have developed pillows that take into account sleep science and ergonomics, such as comfort for lying on your side. This pillow is made of natural latex material, and improved resilience after a certain period of time. A new idea was added to the pillow, which was naturally used for sleep, but could it add additional features for health care. Here, health care targets sleep apnea, which is known to be associated with serious illness. The purpose of this paper is to design a comprehensive service that uses a pressure sensor and a voice sensor to obtain information and to identify abnormal symptoms related to diseases from this information and to refer them to a specialist. It also covers the basic design and implementation to confirm the success of this system. Based on this design, the information obtained will be converted into a DB, and a server system for consultation with a specialist will be completed to upgrade the role of assistive health devices for sleep apnea.
