  • The smart factory promotion project is a project that uses ICT technology to improve the production process and the entire management environment system. In Korea, the smart factory promotion project has been continuously implemented since 2014, and the Smart Factory Promotion Team is supporting it nationally. The smart factory promotion project has shown positive results in some companies even in difficult environments such as the COVID-19 situation. In order for each company to promote the smart factory project, it must receive business approval through an evaluation based on the business plan. In order to receive business approval, it is important that the main contents described in the business plan (introduction (business) goals, qualitative goals, quantitative goals, functional composition diagram, etc.) are described consistently. In this study, we studied the cases of several companies to determine whether the main contents of the companies' business plans were consistent. The main contents to be maintained in consistency were the purpose and necessity of introduction, quantitative goals, qualitative goals, functional composition diagram, and expected effects.

  • Steady exercise or walking exercise is helpful for the treatment of chronic diseases or cancers. In this paper, I presented a smart poster to enable the patients to exercise while moving between the smart posters, dynamically, in order to provide better exercise effect to them. It can be a new form of exercise prescription that combines exercise with walking using smart posters. The personalized exercise prescription is downloaded from the management server in real time when the patient approaches, and induces the patient's exercise and walking. In addition, the smart poster helps patient to move to other posters in order to induce more walking exercise. To achieve this, I proposed a transfer protocol that autonomously exchanges session information between smart posters in this paper. Moreover, the smart poster based on Raspberry was implemented to verify validity of this protocol, and an experiment was conducted to measure the request and response time between smart posters in the implemented environment. In the experiment, when the other poster sent the message requesting the exercise session 100 times and received the response message, the 95 percentage of received messages had the response time within 0.05 seconds.

  • Smart structural systems are defined as ones that demonstrate the ability to modify their characteristics and/or properties in order to respond favorably to unexpected severe loading conditions. The performance of such a task requires a set of additional components to be integrated within such systems. These components belong to three major categories, sensors, processors and actuators. It is wellknown that all structural systems entail some level of uncertainty, because of their extremely complex nature, lack of complete information, simplifications and modeling. Similarly, sensors, processors and actuators are expected to reflect a similar uncertain behavior. As it is imperative to be able to evaluate the impact of such components on the behavior of the system, it is as important to ensure, or at least evaluate, the reliability of such components. In this paper, a system model for reliability assessment of smart structural systems is outlined. The presented model is considered a necessary first step in the development of a reliability assessment algorithm for smart structural systems. The system model outlines the basic components of the system, in addition to, performance functions and inter-relations among individual components. A fault tree model is developed in order to aggregate the individual underlying component reliabilities into an overall system reliability measure. Identification of appropriate limit states for all underlying components are beyond the scope of this paper. However, it is the objective of this paper to set up the necessary framework for identifying such limit states. A sample model for a three-story single bay smart rigid frame, is developed in order to demonstrate the proposed framework.

  • Smart devices have a variety of affordances to foster meaningful learning in elementary school. For the design of smart learning environments, more research is needed to understand students' smart device usage and their perception of learning with smart devices. In order to capture smart device usage profiles among elementary school students in South Korea, this study carried out Latent Profile Analysis with three constructs: information search, communication, and study. Participants (n=253), who ranged from the fourth to the sixth grade students, were classified into three profiles of smart device usage: low-activity, communication, and high-activity groups. The smart device usage profiles varied depending on smartphone usage experience, and the profiles were significantly related with smart device addiction, not with smart device usage ability. Perceptions of smart education were also significantly associated with the profiles. The high-activity group showed more positive attitudes toward smart education than the others, but no significant difference was found in regard to negative attitudes. Based on the findings, this study discussed implications for the use of smart devices in elementary school.
