The accurate assessment of the performance of nonuniform systems requires a thorough understanding of stability analysis. As a result, the theoretical modeling of the influence of various variables on the performance of small-scale nonuniform structures with conventional and non-conventional geometries is presented in this paper. According to the fundamental computer simulation based on mathematical and mechanical principles, the stability of the nonuniform structures is examined. Thus, a numerical procedure is used to simulate the stability and instability characteristics of the nonuniform small-scale structures via computer aid. Theoretic simulation methods provide a great deal of the design and production of small-scale structures at a low cost compared to experimental simulations. Thus, this paper provides a good presentation of the stability analysis of the nonuniform nanoscale structures with high accuracy without actual experimental.
The investigation on the verification of availability simulation for small-scale plant has been carried out. This study focuses on the availability variation induced by number of equipment and iteration with failure density function. The equipment classification of small-scale plant and failure type and the methodologies on Monte-Carlo simulation are established. The availability deviation with programs showed under Max. 1.7% for the case of normal function. This method could be used to availability evaluation of small-scale plant, but calibration of the failure density function is necessary for general application.

Weapon systems for future war require operating various war scenarios that are getting complex. Similarly, modeling and simulation technique is getting attention to acquire more effective weapon systems. Several S/W tools exist for simulating small scale engagements which depict a kind of war. However, it is very hard to model combat objects more systematic, and reuse them. To overcome these difficulties, this paper presents a modeling methodology for simulating small scale engagement using the DEVS-formalism. In this paper, we systematically classified and defined combat objects, likewise, explain a framework for a small scale combat simulation.
In this paper, the critical buckling temperature of single-walled Boron Nitride nanotube (SWBNNT) is estimated using a new nonlocal first-order shear deformation beam theory. The present model is capable of capturing both small scale effect and transverse shear deformation effects of SWBNNT and is based on assumption that the inplane and transverse displacements consist of bending and shear components, in which the bending components do not contribute toward shear forces and, likewise, the shear components do not contribute toward bending moments. Results indicate the importance of the small scale effects in the thermal buckling analysis of Boron Nitride nanotube.

The International Hurricane Research Center (IHRC) at Florida International University (FIU) is pursuing research to better understand hurricane-induced effects on residential buildings and other structures through full-scale aerodynamic and destructive testing. The full-scale 6-fan Wall of Wind (WoW) testing apparatus, measuring 4.9 m tall by 7.3 m wide, is capable of generating hurricane-force winds. To achieve windstorm simulation capabilities it is necessary to reproduce mean and turbulence characteristics of hurricane wind flows. Without devices and methods developed to achieve target wind flows, the full-scale WoW simulations were found to be unsatisfactory. To develop such devices and methods efficiently, a small-scale (1:8) model of the WoW was built, for which simulation devices were easier and faster to install and change, and running costs were greatly reduced. The application of such devices, and the use of quasiperiodic fluctuating waveforms to run the WoW fan engines, were found to greatly influence and improve the turbulence characteristics of the 1:8 scale WoW flow. Reasonable reproductions of wind flows with specified characteristics were then achieved by applying to the full-scale WoW the devices and methods found to be effective for the 1:8 scale WoW model.

This paper investigates the performance of IEEE 802.11p wireless access in vehicular environments (WAVE) system in small-scale fading models reported by Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech). We redesign the small-scale fading models to be applied to the computer simulation and develop the IEEE 802.11p WAVE physical layer simulator to provide the bit error rate and packet error rate performances. Moreover, a new channel estimator using decision directed channel estimation and linear minimum mean square error smoothing is proposed in order to improve the performance of the conventional least square channel estimator using two identical long training symbols. The simulation results are satisfactorily coincident with the scenarios of Georgia Tech report, and the proposed channel estimator significantly outperforms the conventional channel estimator.
This paper presents a multi-phase fluid simulation that realistically represents small scale details. We achieve this by creating escaped particles based on physical methods. Escaped particles are the remained particles after correcting levelset. Generation of escaped particles in this paper differs from previous works; this fluid simulation is extended by adding lift force and drag force to positive escaped particles. And negative escaped particles represent droplet or splash effect; when they are merged into the negative levelset value, they affect the nodes' velocity (two-way coupling). This simulation that uses positive and negative escaped particles deals with detailed fluid motions dynamically in small scale.

Developing future weapons systems has become increasingly complicated and costly. There, modeling and simulation techniques have been highly interested in developing the defense systems. Modeling and simulation techniques provide a means to simulate military training, strategies, military doctrines, and weapons acquisition. In this paper, we proposed a small scale engagement scenario generation method for engagement M&S model. Generated scenario is one of critical factors in the field of commander training, operational analysis, and tactical evaluation. The objective of this paper is to develop a scenario generation method for small scale engagement using the FSA(Finite State Automata) and DFS(Depth First Search) algorithm. The proposed method is verified using a one-on-one combat engagement scenario between assault ship and reconnaissance ship. Also, we are visualized using Delta3D$^{TM}$.
This study aims at the effective estimation of water supply capacity of small scale reservoir and the proposal of the data which is necessary to establish the water resources management plan of down stream area of the reservoir in the future by comparison and examination about reservoir operation technique for the security of agricultural water in small scale reservoir. The result of flow calculation by Tank model is used for the input data as the inflow data which is needed for the analysis of water supply capacity. Stochastic method, simulation method, and optimization method are used to examine the water supply capacity, and water security amount is compared with each method. From the analyses of water supply capacities by each method, slightly different results are shown in spite of the effort to compare them equally using input data such as inflow data under equal conditions, and the comparison of water supply capacities by each method are as follows; linear planning method, simulation method, and transition probability matrix method in the order of amount from the largest. It is thought that the simulation method in which comparatively reasonable application of the inflow data is possible and is simulated in successive time series dam operation of the three methods used in this study thus, simulation model is proper to estimate the water supply capacity of agricultural small scale reservoir. And it is judged that the heightening of efficiency of water resources utilization according to the development of downstream area of dam may be possible using the upward readjusted water supply amount of $55.18{\tiems}10^6ton$ and $63.7{\times}10^6ton$ at 95% and 90% supply reliability respectively which are above the planning water supply amount of $50.0{\times}10^6$ton when the simulation method is introduced as the standard.

Road traffic noise is closely related with urban forms and urban components, such as population, building, traffic and land-use, etc. Hence, it is possible to minimize the noise exposure problem depending on how to plan new town or urban planning alteration. This paper provides ways to apply for urban planning in consideration of noise exposure through road traffic noise estimation for alteration of small-scale urban form. Spatial autoregressive model from the former study is used as statistical model for noise simulation. The simulation results by the spatial statistical model are compared with those by the engineering program-based modeling for 5 scenarios of small-scale urban form alteration. The error from the limitation of containing informations inside the grid cell and the difficulties of reflecting acoustic phenomena exists. Nevertheless, in the stage of preliminary design, the use of the statistical models that have been estimated well could be useful in time and economically.
