  • As methods reducing damages by jellyfish which enter the coastal areas of Korea, attaching cutting devices to towing nets of otter trawls or pair trawls and/or using a canvas type of cutting nets of small fishing boats have been widely utilized. In order to reduce shut-down damages of power plants in coastal areas due to the mass influx of marine organisms including jellyfish, a possible improvement of the traveling water screen system and various jellyfish influx blocking devices were suggested in this study. The results could be utilized as an important index for reducing damages by jellyfish bloom which cause on a massive scale in summer in Korea.

  • This paper proposes an efficient spatial index, named $AR^*$-tree(Area $R^*$-tree) which is a variant of the $R^*$-tree, for mobile software. A MBR(Minimum Bounding Rectangle) structure of the $AR^*$-tree has additional min and max values of area axis as well as x and y axes. The value of area axis is used to determine the significance of a spatial data. If area of a spatial data is large, then it is significant when drawing a map. To reduce complexity of a map on a small screen of mobile device, only significant spatial data can be found by the $AR^*$-tree. The result of a series of tests indicates that the $AR^*$-tree provides a method for control of readability of a map and guarantees an efficient performance at the same time.

  • Character customization means a series of processes to build a characters. Mobile character customizing system is very scarce than Online RPG system qualitatively or quantitatively. In this paper, I will propose some effective elements about A DIY character system that must be suitable for the mobile environment system. The reasons why Select System is mainly used as the customizing system in RPG are as follows; First, the screen of a mobile device is small; Second, it is due to the space-time characteristics with which mobile games are played. In the middle of playing a game, a customizing system should be adopted in order for players not to feel bored. In addition, avatar's costumes should be continually updated.

  • ERP, a typical enterprise application, helps companies to increase their productivity and to support their decision makings. ERP is composed of diverse functions that are optimized under PC environment, whereas the ERP applications on a mobile platform have many constraints such as a small screen, limited resolution, and computing power. Because all the functions of a ERP legacy system are not required for ERP on a mobile device, the core functions of the ERP system should be selected to increase system efficiency. In this study, two main methods were used; interviews and log analyses. The end users using a ERP system were interviewed for their perceptions, and log data analyses were made for the hitting number of specific ERP functions. The differences between the actual usage based on log data and users' cognitive preferences about ERP functions were analysed. Finally, the functional differences between users' perception and actual usage were suggested for some practical implications.

  • With the rapid progress of medical image information system, a variety of researches for the system that can read and decipher the medical images in anytime and anywhere have been studied. In this paper, we develop personal digital assistant (PDA) device based mobile digital imaging and communications in medicine (DICOM) image viewer that can process the received medical images at any time. In particular, with the aid of the proposed mobile DICOM image viewer, we can read several images simultaneously and we can read the selected image only from the several images. To cope with the small size of PDA screen, the function of image enlargement is also included in the proposed mobile DICOM image viewer.

  • This system constructs system devoted to what supplement that I follow at an installation interval of attribute quotient repeater of a thing devoted wireless communication device gaining position information, and range of information is limited. A parking lot management system constructed a database of parking information, and the database information was planned so that there was the number of to easily offer client and an Administrator. There is a sensor in several to perceive a vehicle about adhesion in a radio communication device installed in a parking lot and covers, and hits data after parking to a server and transmits base information. The Administrator program that I verified an information treatment of the server parking management database that I did wireless hand phone emulator J2MEWTK with client and verified working together of a server, and was understood by a transfer of, parking information, and was devoted to a, server and an Administrator offered the menu screen which was easy for a user convenience and management.

  • Smart TV has been the most popular communication device since 2010. It is the multi-functional device conjugated a variety of features such as Apps, Web surfing, viewing VOD and so on. However, the contents and development tools for smart TV are still relatively small and research for game contents development tools is also insufficient. In this study, we are to design and develop a framework for developers to make Smart TV game contents easily. The STGF (Smart TV Game Framework) we developed is made up of 3 managers such as input manager, screen data process manager, and game status process manager. We verified the usefulness of STGF through developing "Pentomiro" App launched commercially in 2013. With STGF development time would be expected to be reduced, because we spend little time in basic development steps such as input, output, and data processing and error correction processing.

  • Web pages with complex layout and small font size do not display well on large screen display such as TV because it has limited capabilities: long distance view, passive user attitude, limited input device like a legacy remote controller. We have designed and implemented new semantic zoom browsing facilities to support effective navigation on Internet-connected digital television with limited capabilities. Our browser performs partitioning of an HTML document content into semantic blocks. Semantic blocks present summarized information with more readable style and modified layout for optimal reading and browsing. Individual blocks can be selected by the user and zoomed in more detail information by the user. The scrolling on large display device needs more user interaction. Our browser modifies the layout of an HTML document with removing horizontal scrolling and minimizing vertical scrolling. This method allows users to easily view the web page by converting into optimal reading style and layout and to easily seek the information just with zooming.

  • Mobile devices wide spread among users after the release of Apple's iPhone, especially in Korea. Mobile device has their own advantages in terms of weight, size, mobility and so on. But, on the contrary, mobile device has to provide more accurate and personalized information because of a small screen and a limited function of information retrieval. This paper presents a user"s preference element changeable recommender system by employing extended collaborative filtering as a technique to provide useful information in a mobile environment. Proposed system reflects user's similar groups by simultaneously considering users' information with preferences and demographic characteristics. Then we construct list of recommenders by user's choice. Finally, we show the implementation of a prototype based on iPhone.

  • Desktop computers, which were the main means of Internet use and information activity, were pushed out by smart devices that emphasized mobility and simplicity. The recent information production and consumption activities are performed through smart devices, but there is no input device for smart devices that can fully replace traditional input devices such as full-size PC compatible keyboards. Because of the small size of the virtual keyboard that uses the touch screen of the smart device, typographical error occurs at a high rate. In this paper, we propose a variable virtual keyboard that minimizes the typographical errors of the conventional virtual keyboards. The proposed method minimizes the user 's input error by adjusting the size of each key of the virtual keyboard based on accumulated dataset of position and pressure of the user' s input error even though there is no difference in the key position arrangement of the conventional virtual keyboards.
