  • This paper illustrates the application of co-occurrence theory to generate lightweight ontologies semi-automatically. The proposed model includes three steps of a (Semi-) Automatic creation of Ontology; (they are conceptually named as) the Syntactic-based Ontology, the Semantic-based Ontology and the Ontology Refinement. Each of these three steps are designed to interactively work together, so as to generate Lightweight Ontologies. The Syntactic-based Ontology step includes generating Association words using co-occurrence in web documents. The Semantic-based Ontology step includes the Alignment large Association words with small Ontology, through the process of semantic relations by contextual terms. Finally, the Ontology Refinement step includes the domain expert to refine the lightweight Ontologies. We also conducted a case study to generate lightweight ontologies in specific domains(news domain). In this paper, we found two directions including (1) employment co-occurrence theory to generate Syntactic-based Ontology automatically and (2) Alignment large Association words with small Ontology to generate lightweight ontologies semi-automatically. So far as the design and the generation of big Ontology is concerned, the proposed research will offer useful implications to the researchers and practitioners so as to improve the research level to the commercial use.

  • Recently, framed structure is increasingly being used as apartment structure due to the advantages during remodeling. Therefore, the use of lightweight panel as separating wall is increasing. To construct lightweight panel structures with sound insulation performance appropriate to the conditions of each field, measurement of sound reduction index(SRI) through panel structures should be performed. In this study, measurement of SRI through 46 kinds of panel structures was performed in the condition of various factors such as surface density, air space and absorber. The result showed that SRI of panel structures was generally higher by increasing of surface density. In the case of double panel with no absorber, SRI at below critical frequency was gradually increased according to rise of air space. Double panel with absorber make remarkable improvement in SRI at low frequency, but there is a little difference compared with SRI of double panel with no absorber over critical frequency.

  • The demand for the lightweight wall has increased as the structure of the multi-unit dwelling has shift to the rahmen structure. The lightweight wall is required to secure certain degree of shock resistance for the structural safety. The study performed the load analysis test for 7 small hard bodies with different masses and shapes and 5 hard materials which applied the impact load on the wall. It was found out from the experiment that different pendulum weight doubled the load maximum even though the shock energy was the same. In addition, the study compared and analyzed the weight of materials and the load of small hard bodies to propose fundamental data for the material design of the lightweight wall.

  • Internet-of-Things (IoT) is an emerging technology that interconnects millions of small devices to enable communication between the devices. It is heavily deployed across small scale to large scale industries because of its wide range of applications. These devices are very capable of transferring data over the internet including critical data in few applications. Such data is exposed to various security threats and thereby raises privacy-related concerns. Even devices can be compromised by the attacker. Modern cryptographic algorithms running on traditional machines provide authentication, confidentiality, integrity, and non-repudiation in an easy manner. IoT devices have numerous constraints related to memory, storage, processors, operating systems and power. Researchers have proposed several hardware and software implementations for addressing security attacks in lightweight encryption mechanism. Several works have made on lightweight block ciphers for improving the confidentiality by means of providing security level against cryptanalysis techniques. With the advances in the cipher breaking techniques, it is important to increase the security level to much higher. This paper, focuses on securing the critical data that is being transmitted over the internet by PRESENT using key-based dynamic S-Box. Security analysis of the proposed algorithm against other lightweight block cipher shows a significant improvement against linear and differential attacks, biclique attack and avalanche effect. A novel key-based dynamic S-Box approach for PRESENT strongly withstands cryptanalytic attacks in the IoT Network.

  • Previous mutual authentication schemes operate on the basis of validated cryptographic functions and hash functions, but these functions require a certain amount of memory capacity. However, since ultra-lightweight IoT devices have a very small amount of memory capacity, these functions can not be applied. In this paper, we first propose a text steganography communication scheme suitable for ultra-lightweight IoT devices with limited resources, and then propose a mutual authentication scheme based on the text steganography communication. The proposed scheme performs mutual authentication and integrity verification using very small amount of memory. For evaluation, we implemented the proposed scheme on Arduino boards and confirmed that the proposed scheme performs well the mutual authentication and the integrity verification functions.

  • Considerable accuracy improvements in deep learning have recently been achieved in many applications that require large amounts of computation and expensive memory. However, recent advanced techniques for compacting and accelerating the deep learning model have been developed for deployment in lightweight devices with constrained resources. Lightweight deep learning techniques can be categorized into two schemes: lightweight deep learning algorithms (model simplification and efficient convolutional filters) in nature and transferring models into compact/small ones (model compression and knowledge distillation). In this report, we briefly summarize various lightweight deep learning techniques and possible research directions.

  • In this study, the physical and mechanical properties of steel fiber reinforced lightweight polymer concrete were investigated experimentally with various steel fiber contents. All tests were performed at room temperature, and stress-strain curve and load-deflection curve were plotted up to failure. The unit weight of steel fiber reinforced lightweight polymer concrete was in the range of $1,020{\sim}1,160\;kg/m^3$, which was approximately $50\%$ of that of the ordinary polymer concrete, The compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, flexural toughness and flexural load-deflection curves after maximum load were shown with increase of steel fiber content. The stress-strain curves of steel fiber reinforced lightweight polymer concrete were bilinear in nature with a small transition zone, Based on these results, steel fiber reinforced lightweight polymer concrete can be widely applied to the polymer composite products.

  • A conventional middleware system is optimized for wired computing environments. The wireless mobile devices have several disadvantages of low-speed processors, small memory and narrow bandwidth of wireless network. To overcome those problem issues in wireless mobile environments, middleware and many middleware-related applications have to be changed of the small sized components. In this paper, we design a lightweight mobile middleware system called "LightMware" which is optimized for mobile environment and middleware applications
