This paper proposes a wearable hand rehabilitation device, DULEX, for persons with functional paralysis of upper-limbs after stoke. DULEX has three degrees of freedom for rehabilitation exercises for wrist and fingers except the thumb. The main function of DULEX is to extend the range of motions of finger and wrist being contracture. DULEX is designed by using a parallel mechanism, and its parameters such as length and location of links are determined by kinematic analysis. The motion trajectory of the designed DULEX is aligned to human hand to prevent a slip. To reduce total weight of DULEX, artificial air muscles are used for actuating each joint motion. In feedback control, each joint angle is indirectly estimated from the relations of the input air pressure and the output muscle length. Experimental results show that DULEX is feasible in hand rehabilitation for stroke survivals.

In this paper deals with a unique method for measuring vehicle states such as body sideslip angle and tire sideslip angle using GPS velocity information in conjunction with other sensors. A method for integrating Inertial Navigation System (INS) sensors with GPS measurements to provide higher update rate estimates of the vehicle states is presented, and the method can be used to estimate the tire cornering stiffness. The experimental results for the GPS velocity-based sideslip angle measurement and cornering stiffness estimates are compared with the theoretical predictions. From the experimental results, it can be concluded that the proposed method has an advantage for future implementation in a vehicle safety system.
In this paper, an antilock brake system (ABS) for commercial vehicles is studied by considering the design of a fuzzy Logic controller with pulse width modulation (PWM). PWM method is used for generating solenoid valve inputs in order to cope with the chattering problem caused by the conventional on/off control The sliding mode observer is designed to estimate the vehicle longitudinal velocity and it is used to calculate the wheel slip ratio. The effectiveness of the proposed control algorithm was validated by simulations performed with a nonlinear 14-DOF vehicle model including the dynamics of the brakes.
In this study, electronically controlled automatic transmission adopted on a subcompact model in the market was modelled, and the driving performances of the transmission were simulated with the models. Kinetic and dynamic models of working components are established. The driving simulation program is developed with those models, and the various driving conditions are analyzed. With the results, the dynamic behaviour of the engine and the automatic transmission is easily understood. Especially, the transient performances of torque converter and clutches are deeply analyzed. Skipping the vehicle road test by using this analyzing tool, we can expect the cost down and the reduction of the development period of automatic transmission.

GPS measurements from Feb. 2002 through Mar. 2004 were used to estimate recent crustal movement across the Lai Chau - Dien Bien fault system in North-West Vietnam. Four GPS campaign data were processed and combined with appropriate constraints using automatic GAMIT/GLOBK run in order to estimate ITRF2000 coordinates, local horizontal velocity and extensive/compressive strain rates. ITRF2000 velocities are consistent with east-southeastward movement of Sundaland i.e. Indochina. Local velocities show not much left-lateral strike-slip of the fault system and derived strain rates are insignificant from zero at $95\%$ confidence.

A unified, modular and decoupled approach for the simulation of converter fed induction machine systems is presented. The system under consideration could have semiconductor devices connected to the stator or the rotor of the induction machine for the purpose of controlling its performance. The machine model, however is invariant to these aspects. The model spans the circuit and equation domains of description thus allowing he advantages of both these domains of descriptions to be utilized. The results obtained using this machine and switch model for a VSI fed induction machine (stator fed, rotor shorted0 are compared with those from laboratory experiment to establish the validity and accuracy of th approach. Results for a slip energy recovery system are also presented and compared with those of earlier workers to establish the performance of the models and algorithms in he doubly-fed mode of operation of induction machine systems.

FBG sensor system is applied to the concrete lining structure in Taegu subway. Near the structure, the power cable tunnel construction started. We wanted to measure the deformation of the structure due to the construction by the FBG sensor. The applied sensor has the gauge length of 1 meter to overcome the inhomogeneity of the concrete material with enough length. In order to fix tightly to the structure, the partially stripped parts of the sensor glued to the package and slip phenomenon between fiber and acrylate jacket was prevented. Prestrain of the sensor was imposed by controlling the two fixed points with bolts and nuts in order to measure compressive strain as well as tensile strain. The behavior of subway lining structure could be monitored very well.

This paper propose a improved parameter estimations of five-phase squirrel-cage induction motor(IM) for speed control system on field oriented control(FOC). In order to high performance control of ac the motors using a FOC and DTC(direct torque control) algorithm, there are required precise motor parameters for slip calculation, flux observer, controller gain, rotor position and speed estimation, and so on. We are suggest a estimation method of the motor parameters that developing five-phase squirrel-cage IM have a stator of concentrated winding for experimental. There are results of stator winding test, no-load test, locked rotor test, and obtained equivalent circuits using manufactured experimental apparatus. For presenting the superior performance of the speed control system in adapted the parameters, experimental results are presented using a 32-bit fixed point TMS320F2812 DSP with 1.5[KW] IM.
In this paper, a mathematical vehicle model, the braking force control parameters, the wheel control logic, and vehicle control strategy are presented, in order to analyze the dynamic characteristics of a vehicle equipped with ABS(Antilock Brake System). The full vehicle dynamics model is constructed with sprung mass, brake system, and wheels to verify control algorithms. The valve control algorithms are designed with the wheel accelerations and slip ratio take into consideration. Theses algorithms are applied to the front and rear wheels independently. Simulation is performed under the wet road condition at initial braking speed of 60 [km/h].

In this study, the performance of the tracking control of a pneumatic servo motor driven position control system using sliding mode is investigated. It is usually quite difficult to obtain precise tracking control of a pneumatic servo motor driven position control system because of the nonlinear deadband and stick-slip friction of the proportional valve. Therefore, a continuous sliding mode controller with velocity feedforward gain is proposed. Experimental results show that the tracking accurracy can be remarkably improved by adding a proper velocity feedforward term to continuous sliding mode controller.
