  • This paper presents the three section sliding mode control algorithm based on hysteresis current control add indirect field oriented control method, and applies it to the position control of induction motor. The three section sliding trajectories are defined in such a way that the system responds following a max acceleration line, then a max speed line, and finally a max deceleration line. This control scheme solves the problem of robustness loss during the reaching phase that occurs in conventional VSC strategy, and ensures the stable sliding mode and robustness enhancement throughout an entire response. Also, the PID controller operating in parallel is adopted to eliminate the sliding mode's collapse phenomenon near the origin caused by steady state chattering phenomenon Digital simulation results confirm that the dynamic performance of the system is insensitive to parameter variations and disturbances.

  • An Algorithm based on direct implementation of variable structure systems theory approach is proposed for on-line training of multilayer perceptrons. Network structures which have multiple inputs, single output and one hidden layer are considered and the weights are assumed to have capabilities for continuous time adaptation. The zero level set of the network learning error is regarded as a sliding surface in the learning parameters space. A sliding mode trajectory can be brought on and reached in finite time on such a sliding manifold. Results from simulated on-line identification task for a two-link planar manipulator dynamics are also presented.

  • In the adaptive fuzzy sliding mode control, from a set of fuzzy IF-THEN rules adaptive fuzzy sliding mode control whose parameters are adjusted on-line according to some adaptation laws is constructed for the purpose of controlling the plant to track a desired trajectory. Most of the research works in nonlinear controller design using fuzzy systems consider the affine system with fixed grid-rule structure based on system state availability.   • In this paper the new neural network and sliding mode suspension controller is proposed. That neural network is error self-recurrent neural network. For fast on-line learning, this paper use recursive least squares method. A new neural networks converges considerably faster than the backpropagation algorithm and has advantages of being less affected by the poor initial weights and learning rate. The controller for suspension systems is designed according to sliding mode technique based on new proposed neural network.

  • In this paper, a new approach to the terminal sliding mode control using adaptive fuzzy sliding surfaces is proposed. The idea behind this approach is to utilize an adaptive sliding surface, in which the slope of the surface is updated on line using a SISO fuzzy logic inference system. We expanded the concepts of terminal sliding mode controller and proposed the terminal sliding mode control input with continuous reaching laws. The computer simulation results have shown the improved performance of the proposed control approach in terms of a decrease in the reaching and settling times and chattering free as compared to the conventional terminal sliding mode control with a fixed sliding surface. The proposed controller has also an advantage that has less computational burden to the conventional terminal sliding mode control using one-directional fuzzy rules.

  • This paper analyzes braking performance of ABS with Sliding Mode Controller, which is designed in this research and compared with that of a commercial ABS-ECU only. HILS system for this paper has an existing hydraulic brake line with an ECU of commercial passenger vehicle and it is designed to be cooperated with Sliding Mode Controller and hydraulic line. This paper shows the simulation results to meet the target slip ratio on the various road conditions and displays the performance with Sliding Mode Controller has an improvement than a commercial ABS.

  • In this paper, radio propagation in a subway tunnel is investigated using fan beam antennas, circular polarization antennas and directional antennas at 2.4㎓ and 5.8㎓ band, respectively. The results of narrowband channel measurements show that received power level for NLOS(Non-Line-Of-Sight) path is decreased drastically as compared with LOS(Line-Of-Sight) path. Wideband channel measurements are obtained using a PN sliding correlation method. The parameters of the channel such as mean access delay and RMS delay spread are compared as to different types of directional beam at IEEE 802.11 WLAN(Wireless Local Area Network) band including 2.4㎓ and 5.8㎓ bands, respectively.

  • In this study, the sliding wear in spur gears, using Archard's wear model, is analyzed. Formulas of tooth sliding wear depth along the line of action are derived. The tooth profile is modified Id make a smooth transmission of the normal loads and the cylinder profile for reducing the pressure spike is suggested. The sliding wear rate is calculated with these profiling results. We expect these modification methods to contribute to the reduction of sliding wear in the root and the tip of tooth and tooth edge.

  • Variable Structure Control(VSC) scheme with sliding mode is widely used to keep a control system insensitive to parameter variations and disturbances. However, the conventional sliding mode control has the undesired phenomenon of chattering which may become a serious problem. Also the restriction of the sliding mode regime cannot guarantee the insensitivity throughout an entire response. In this paper, the sliding surfaces, which are composed of three-line segments, are used to remove the reaching phase. Also, the concept of fuzzy logic is incorporated with the sliding mode control in order to control the unknown or partially known systems effectively. The proposed method is applied to a Double-Sided MM Type LDM to show its usefulness.

  • An integrated Robot control system for SCARA robot is developed. The system consists of an off-line programming(OLP), software and a robot controller using four digital signal processor(TMS32OC50). The OLP has functions of teaching task, dynamic simulator, three dimensional animation, and trajectory planning. To develop robust dynamic control algorithm, a new sliding mode control algorithm for the robot is proposed. The trajectory tracking performance of these algorithm is evaluated by implementing to SCARA robot(SM5 type) using DSP controller which has conventional PI-FF control algorithm. To make SCARA robot operate according to off-line teaching, an interface between OLP and robot controller in the integrated system is designed. To demonstrate performance of the integrated system, the proposed control algorithm is applied to the system.
