담음에 관한 형상의학적 고찰 (Review on Phlegm in Hyungsang medicine)

  • Phlegm is defined as the static fluid in excess in one or more parts of the body. It is not only a pathologic product but also a pathogen itself. However, as it says Phlegm is another title for the body fluid. phlegm can be physiological. In Hyungsang medicine. since the Hyungsang which an individual shows determines his or her illness. the principle to treat phlegm also varies according to the individual's Hyungsang. Thus, the author reviewed ‘Jisan’s Special Lectures for Clinicians’ and summarized the concepts and diagnostics of phlegm, and treatment and regimens by Hyungsang medicine. The concepts of phlegm : Phlegm is not only a pathologic product of disharmony of Jung(精), Ki(氣), Shin(神) and Hyul(血) but also a driving force to mature and transform these constituents. Phlegm is another designation for the Fluid. Phlegm can act as an alternative substance or buffering agent. If we describe our body as the habitat of worms. phlegm could be the inhabitant. Diagnostics of phlegm : The infraorbital areas have a dark-gray or blackish coloring. A man who is feminine or a woman who is masculine tends to develop phlegm. One of the major signs of phlegm is pain in Chungwan(中脘). The color of the skin does not change. Treatment of phlegm by Hyungsang medicine. For the Jung type(精科) and the Hyul type(血科), phlegm treatment is to supply Jung and Blood or eliminate Damp-phlegm. The man needs tonifying herbs and the woman needs herbs which promote the flow of Ki(氣). Children and the aged are. tegardless of the nature of disease, to be warmed and supplemented. For the heavy man. treatment is to supplement Ki and eliminate Damp; for the slim man. treatment is to supplement Yin(陰) and purge Heat.

  • Fourier transform - infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) provides biochemical profiles containing overlapping signals from a majority of the compounds that are present when whole cell extracts are analyzed. We attempted to determine the ripeness of strawberry fruit flesh by FT-IR. Fruit ripeness was divided into four developmental stages based on fruit skin color: 'yellow-green', 'pink-green', 'pink', and 'red' stages. Principal component analysis of FT-IR data of inside fruit flesh extracts clustered samples of four different developmental stages into three discrete groups: (1) 'yellow-green' group, (2) 'pink-green' group, and (3) 'pink' and 'red' group. The most remarkable difference between four different developmental stages was found in the carbohydrate fingerprint region $(1,000-1,100cm^{-1})$ of the FT-IR spectrum, indicating that differences in carbohydrate compounds represented the ripeness of strawberry fruit. Overall results indicate that FT-IR in combination with PCA enables discrimination of the ripeness of strawberry fruit flesh.

전처리가 오배자 추출물에 의한 여름용 인견직물의 염색 및 기능성 향상에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Pretreatment on Dyeability and Functionalities of Summer Rayon fabrics Finished by Gallnut Extract)

  • Viscose rayon filament fabrics have been called 'artificial silk' and beloved as summer clothing materials for a long time in Korea. This is because the viscose rayon filament fabrics reveals glossy surface and cool touch feeling compared to other conventional fabrics composed of staple fibers. Therefore, we tried to prepare the higher value added viscose rayon filament fabrics for summer textile products. In this study, we applied gallnut extract to the viscose rayon filament fabric to develop summer fabrics with natural color and multi-functions such as antibacterial and antioxidant properties. This process also pursue eco-friendly and multi-functional fabric finishing from the natural material "gallnut". In addition, various pre-treatment with cationizer, chitosan, or chito-oligomer was applied to the finishing process to improve the finishing efficacy and durability. Consequently, it was found that the active component of gallnut extract was successfully incorporated to the viscose rayon filament fabric through a pad-dry-cure process. And, the treated viscose rayon filament fabrics showed excellent antibacterial and antioxidant properties. Therefore, it was expected that the rayon filament fabrics treated by gallnut extract could be used as effective summer fabrics preventing the growth of bacteria and skin ageing as well as providing cool touch feeling. However, the pre-treatments were not that meaningful on the functionalities but effective on coloring.

  • The study about the five viscera's "Syndromes due to Damage" and "Disease" of 『Donguibogam. Five viscera and Six Bowels』, with several existing information on the specificity of the five viscera, were discussed as the physiological characteristics and the pathological conjugation of the five viscera. Characteristics of the specificity of the five viscera is determined to see the eyes, nose, mouth, ears revealed the face and the body that protect the five viscera, and characteristics that in relation to the date or time or season, Also that determined in conjunction with the face color, skin condition. In 『Lingshu』, 『Nanjing』 "how do pathogen involvement in the disease of the five viscera" and "disease occurs spontaneously in the Main meridian of the five viscera " and "Syndromes due to Damage to the Five viscera" in 『Donguibogam. Five viscera and Six Bowels』, It was discussed about the physiology and the pathology that is caused by biological activity according to the characteristics of the five viscera specificity "Outer symptoms" of "Five viscera Disease" in 『Donguibogam. Five viscera and Six Bowels』 is the description of the characteristics of behavior and emotional characteristics of the specificity of the five viscera. Also if you use excessive functions associated with emotional that was fall in consumptive disease.

A Dynamic Hand Gesture Recognition System Incorporating Orientation-based Linear Extrapolation Predictor and Velocity-assisted Longest Common Subsequence Algorithm

  • The present paper proposes a novel dynamic system for hand gesture recognition. The approach involved is comprised of three main steps: detection, tracking and recognition. First, the gesture contour captured by a 2D-camera is detected by combining the three-frame difference method and skin-color elliptic boundary model. Then, the trajectory of the hand gesture is extracted via a gesture-tracking algorithm based on an occlusion-direction oriented linear extrapolation predictor, where the gesture coordinate in next frame is predicted by the judgment of current occlusion direction. Finally, to overcome the interference of insignificant trajectory segments, the longest common subsequence (LCS) is employed with the aid of velocity information. Besides, to tackle the subgesture problem, i.e., some gestures may also be a part of others, the most probable gesture category is identified through comparison of the relative LCS length of each gesture, i.e., the proportion between the LCS length and the total length of each template, rather than the length of LCS for each gesture. The gesture dataset for system performance test contains digits ranged from 0 to 9, and experimental results demonstrate the robustness and effectiveness of the proposed approach.

  • The purpose of this study is to offer basic data to adolescents' cosmetic culture by investigating and analysing the choices made by female students who have been becoming principle consumers of cosmetics these days. Firstly, social and cultural backgrounds and concepts of N generation, and then characteristics and influencing powers of female students were reviewed. And this study also included questionnaire surveys of 500 female students in middle and high schools located in Seoul. Data were processed using a SPSS$^+$ program and analyzed by using frequency, percentage and the $X^2$-test. The major findings run as follows: Female students have the effects of spreading their words quickly and abilities of making a decision what to buy. And they accept consuming behaviors itself as a part of cultural lives. Therefore, industries have acknowledged them as new principal consumers with a powerful influence in the market. They also play an important role in active consumer as emotional generation who has distinct personalities and prefer fashion trends, changes and innovations. They show conformities with their peer groups and they also want to identify themselves with characters or stars. The cosmetic behaviors of female students relating to demographic characteristics showed a significant relation to grades, majors, school groups and places of residence. Female students have a lot of interest and knowledge about cosmetics. And they use various cosmetic products. This study demonstrated the age for using make-up for the first time has been becoming younger more and more. Recently, female adolescents tend to use face powder, lip gloss, mascara and eye shadow. It is assumed that cosmetic purchases of female students can be considered as an impulsive aspects. However, before purchases, the proportion of students having any particular cosmetic brand in mind previously has been increasing. They take into consideration skin safety, the quality of product and color, when purchasing cosmetic products.

소아 아토피 피부염에서 발아현미 상황버섯의 임상적 치료효과 (The Clinical Effect of Phellinus linteus Grown on Germinated Brown Rice in the Treatment of Atopic Dermatitis)

  • Objective: Atopic dermatitis is the most common chronic inflammatory skin disease in childhood. Phellinus linteus, an orange color mushroom, has been used as a traditional herb medicine for years. Recent preliminary animal experiments suggest that Phellinus linteus grown on germinated brown rice is effective in chronic inflammatory disease. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of Phellinus linteus grown on germinated brown rice in the treatment of atopic dermatitis(AD). Methods: 35 patients, 2 to 14 years of age, with mild to moderate AD were treated with Phellinus linteus grown on germinated brown rice powder per oral, $6{\sim}12g$/day adjusted by the body weight, divided three for up to 12 weeks without other treatment. The mean age of patients was 7.3 years. The disease activity has been monitored by objective SCORAD index. The symptom score of the pruritus was measured by using a traditional visual analogue scale (VAS). In addition, the global assessments of clinical response were also monitored by patients or their parents. Results: After 12 weeks of the study, significant reductions in mean severity scores and mean symptom scores were observed. The mean objective SCORAD indices of 35 patients decreased from 25.31${\pm}$8.96 to 18.73${\pm}$13.89(p<0.05). And the mean symptom score of pruritus assessment decreased from 7.37${\pm}$1.33 to 4.6${\pm}$2.3(p<0.05). The patient's global assessment of clinical response were also improved through the period of treatment(p<0.05). Conclusions: Phellinus linteusgrown on germinated brown rice may play a role in the treatment of mild and moderate AD in Children.

미국 수출 단감 포장의 현황 및 수송 중 컨테이너 온도관리 실태 (Packages of Persimmons Exported from Korea to USA and Temperature Conditions during Sea Transport)

  • 한국에서 미국으로의 단감의 수출확대를 위하여 미국에서의 단감 생산 및 유통 현황을 현지 방문하여 조사하였다. 그리고 해상을 통한 단감 포장의 시범적 수송과 현지 판매를 수행하여 유통 중의 문제점을 파악하였다. 이러한 조사로부터 고품질 상태로의 단감을 미국에 수출하기 위한 방안을 도출하고자 하였다. 미국 현지에서의 단감 산업은 생산량 증가로 가격이 하락하고 있으며 이에 따른 수지 악화로 재배면적 및 생산량이 감소 추세에 진입하였다. 단감 소비는 현재 아시안에 의하여 주도적으로 이루어지고 있지만 최근 히스패닉과 백인들에 의한 소비도 증가하고 있었다. 타국으로부터 수출되는 감에 비해 한국산 단감은 색도와 당도를 증진시키는 노력이 필요하며 지나치게 대과인 경우는 국내 가격이 높아 가격 경쟁력이 떨어지고 수출확대가 어려운 것으로 나타났다. 대미 수출 단감 포장은 수송 중 저온 컨테이너 별로 온도차가 심하게 발생되었고 온도차가 많은 컨테이너의 과실은 흑변, 연화 등의 발생으로 품질이 크게 저하되었다. 과실의 플라스틱 봉지를 결속하는 상태가 불량하여 포장내 공기조성이 단감저장에 적절한 수준으로 형성되지 않았고(산소농도가 높고 이산화탄소농도가 낮음), 과피흑변 및 흑점, 연화과 등 생리장해과의 발생이 많았다.

인삼의 건조특성 구명 및 건조모델 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on Drying Characteristics and Drying Model Development of Korean Ginseng)

  • Drying characteristic data for peeled ginseng were obtained to determine dominant drying factors and fitted with five selected drying models and an empirical model. Among air temperature, relative humidity and diameter of ginseng root, drying air temperature was found to be the most influencing factor on drying rate. Drying velocity appeared faster as the drying temperature increased but its effect was less at high temperature than at low temperature. Quality change during the drying process did not occur except when relative humidity was 75fb. At high relative humidity, skin color of ginseng was turned to light brown. 평가 함수를 사용하여 회전에 강건한 자동 얼굴 영역 검출과 추적 (Automatic Face Region Detection and Tracking for Robustness in Rotation using the Estimation Function)

  • 일반적으로 얼굴 추적 시 움직임에 강건한 Lucas-Kanade 추적 방법이 많이 사용된다. 그러나 얼굴이 회전되었을 경우, 정확한 얼굴 영역 검출이 어렵다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해 Lucas-Kanade 추적 방법에 평가함수를 도입하여 회전에 강건한 자동 얼굴 영역 검출 및 추적 방법을 제안하였다. 얼굴영역은 색상정보를 이용하여 자동으로 추출하였으며, Harris 코너 추출 알고리즘으로 특징점을 추출하였다. 폐색된 특징점을 구분하기위하여 특징점마다 기존 특징점과 새로운 특징점과의 차이 값을 계산한다. 만약, 특징점이 폐색되었을 경우, 잡음을 제거하기 위하여 제거하며 특징점의 개수가 일정 임계값 이하일 경우, 얼굴 영역을 다시 검출하였다. 실험결과를 통하여 얼굴 영역이 회전되었을 경우, 기존의 Lucas-Kanade 추적 방법보다 더 좋은 결과를 확인하였다.
