  • This study was peformed to establish the standard size system to be required for the production of brassiere. The subject were 155 Korean twenties-aged women and were directly measured anthropometrically. From 27 measurements, 5 factors were extracted through factor analysis. The accumulative contribution ratio is 76.92%. Factor 1 indicates the degree of obesity around the chest, factor 2 is the drooping degree of breast, factor 3 is the contours and prominence, factor 4 is the breast breadth and breadth of bust point, factors 5 is the volume of breast. The subject were classified into 3 cluster as their breast types through cluster analysis. Type 1 is the closest to the ideal breast shape and not too droopy. This group belonged to 75A. Type 2 has small breast and belonged to 70AA group. Type 3 is the obesest and has the biggest and droopy breast. This group belonged to 75B. The distribution of size of brassiere had 3 sections from 70 to 80 showing a rate of 81.94% and the sin of the cup had 4 sections from AAA cup to B cup showing a rate of 89.70%. The production ratio of each brassiere size, it was found that the brassiere size of highest production ratio was 75A(16.39%) in type 1,70AA(16.27%) in type 2, and 75B(13.72%) in type 3. This suggests that it is necessary to adjust for the production rate of brassieres.

  • The SinGAN is one of generative adversarial networks that can be trained on a single nature image. It has poor ability to learn more global features from nature image, and losses much local detail information when it generates arbitrary size image sample. To solve the problem, a non-linear function is firstly proposed to control downsampling ratio that is ratio between the size of current image and the size of next downsampled image, to increase the ratio with increase of the number of downsampling. This makes the low-resolution images obtained by downsampling have higher proportion in all downsampled images. The low-resolution images usually contain much global information. Therefore, it can help the model to learn more global feature information from downsampled images. Secondly, the attention mechanism is introduced to the generative network to increase the weight of effective image information. This can make the network learn more local details. Besides, in order to make the output image more natural, the TVLoss function is introduced to the loss function of SinGAN, to reduce the difference between adjacent pixels and smear phenomenon for the output image. A large number of experimental results show that our proposed model has better performance than other methods in generating random samples with fixed size and arbitrary size, image harmonization and editing.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to share our experience of transcatheter closure of small patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) by using an Amplatzer vascular plug (AVP). Methods: We reviewed the medical records of 20 patients who underwent transcatheter closure at Samsung Medical Center and Sejong General Hospital from January 2008 to August 2012. The size and shape of the PDAs were evaluated by performing angiograms, and the PDA size and the AVP devices size were compared. Results: The mean age of the patients was $54.9{\pm}45.7$ months old. The PDAs were of type C (n=5), type D (n=12), and type E (n=3). The mean pulmonary end diameter of the PDA was $1.7{\pm}0.6$ mm, and the aortic end diameter was $3.6{\pm}1.4$ mm. The mean length was $7.3{\pm}1.8$ mm. We used 3 types of AVP devices: AVP I (n=5), AVP II (n=7), and AVP IV (n=8). The ratio of AVP size to the pulmonary end diameter was $3.37{\pm}1.64$, and AVP size/aortic end ratio was $1.72{\pm}0.97$. The aortic end diameter was significantly larger in those cases repaired with AVP II than in the others (P=0.002). The AVP size did not significantly correlate with the PDA size, but did correlate with smaller ratio of AVP size to aortic end diameter ($1.10{\pm}0.31$, P=0.032). Conclusion: Transcatheter closure of small PDA with AVP devices yielded satisfactory outcome. AVP II was equally effective with smaller size of device, compared to others.

  • We prepared spherical silica particles by controlling various conditions of emulsion-gel procedure using a lab-scale membrane emulsification system equipped with SPG (Shirasu porous glass) membrane having pore size of 2.6 ${\mu}m$. We determined the effects of process parameters of membrane emulsification (dispersed phase pressure, stabilizer and emulsifier concentration in continuous phase, $H_2O$/TEOS ratio, ratio of dispersed phase to continuous phase) on the mean size and size distribution of silica particles. The increase of the dispersed phase pressure and ratio of dispersed phase to continuous phase led to the increase in the mean size of silica particles. On the contrary, the increase in stabilizer and emulsifier concentration and $H_2O$/TEOS ratio caused the reduction of the mean size of particles. Through controlling these parameters, monodisperse spherical silica particles with about 3 ${\mu}m$ of the mean size were finally prepared.

  • To investigate the relationships of solder joint characteristics with solder composition and A:V ratio (solder volume per pad area), Sn-37Pb and Sn-4.0Ag-0.5Cu solder balls with 330, 400, 450 and $457{\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ size were reflowed on same substrate. Sn-37Pb and Sn-4.0Ag-0.5Cu was reflowed at $220^{\circ}C$ and $240^{\circ}C$ respectively by IR-type soldering machine. As a result of reflowed solder- ball diameter(D) and height(H) measurement, D/H was decreased with solder ball size increment in range of 330~450 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. But, D/H was increased in the solder joint for 457 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ size, it was caused possibly by decrement of solder ball height increment compared with solder volume increment. As a result of shear and pull test, joint strength with A:V ratio was high. Joint strength of Sn-4.0Ag-0.5Cu was higher than Sn-37Pb. However, Sn-37Pb had more stable solder joint of small standard deviation. A thick and clean scallop type Ni-Cu-Sn intermetallic compound layer was formed in high A:V ratio and Sn-4.0Ag-0.5Cu solder joint interface.

  • Generally, larger sample size leads to a greater statistical power to detect a significant difference. We may increase the sample size for both case and control in order to obtain greater power. However, it is often the case that increasing sample size for case is not feasible for a variety of reasons. In order to look at change in power as the ratio of control to case varies (1:1 to 4:1), we conduct association tests with simulated data generated by PLINK. The simulated data consist of 50 disease SNPs and 300 non-disease SNPs and we compute powers for disease SNPs. Genetic Power Calculator was used for computing powers with varying the ratio of control to case (1:1, 2:1, 3:1, 4:1). In this study, we show that gains in statistical power resulting from increasing the ratio of control to case are substantial for the simulated data. Similar results might be expected for real data.

  • Hyaluronic acid(HA) hydrogels were synthesized by immersing HA microbeads in phosphate buffered saline solutions having different pH levels to assess the effect of pH on the swelling ratio of HA hydrogels for smart drug delivery systems. No beads were formed when the HA solution(below pH 9) was crosslinked with divinyl sulfone(DVS) because DVS is a basic solution. The variation regarding the size of the microbead was not significant, suggesting that the bead size is not a function of pH(10 ~ 14). However, the pore size of the microbeads decreased with increasing pH from 10 to 14, leading to the surface smoothness and dense network as a result of higher crosslinking. The swelling ratio of hydrogels increased when the pH rose from 2(acidic) to 6(neutral). Afterwards, it decreased with further increasing pH(basic). The lower swelling ratio may be due to the lack of ionization of the carboxyl groups. On the other hand, a higher swelling ratio is likely due to the increased electrostatic repulsions between negatively charged carboxyl groups on different chains. Experimental results suggested that pH-responsive HA hydrogels can be applicable to the controlled drug delivery systems.

  • To examine the physical properties of POY through the microstructure control, the crystal structure such as the crystallinity, the crystallite size, the orientation, the shrinkage, the tensile properties, and the thermal stress of POY(80/48, SD) were examined at different draw ratios and annealing temperatures. From the examination following conclusions were obtained : 1. The crystallinity was more effected by the heat setting temperature than by the draw ratio. The increasing rate was greatest at the heat setting temperature range of $170~190^\circ{C}$. 2. The crystallite size perpendicular to the fiber axis was more effected by the annealing temperature at lower draw ratios. On the other hand, the crystal and amorphous orientations were more effected by the heat setting at higher draw ratios. 3. The boiling shrinkage did not change significantly, but the total shrinkage showed 13% at the draw ratio 1.9 and the heat setting temperature $170^\circ{C}$. 4. The maximum thermal stress increased with increasing the draw ratio and decreasing the heat setting temperature in the temperature range of $170~210^\circ{C}$. At the draw ratio 1.9 and the heat setting temperature $170^\circ{C}$, the maximum thermal stress found was 1.1gf/d. 5. In the heat setting temperature above $170^\circ{C}$ after the drawing, the crystallinity, the crystallite size, the orientation, and the strength increased with increasing temperature, but the shrinkage and the maximum thermal stress decreased with increasing temperature.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the effect of hot forging ratio on the microstructure and mechanical properties of incoloy 825 alloy. Hot forging was carried out at the forging ratio of 0%, 60% and 90% respectively in a range of $900^{\circ}C{\sim}1,140^{\circ}C$ and followed solution treatment was conducted at $1,000^{\circ}C$ for 1 hr. In all the specimens of hot forged of 0%, 60% and 90%, precipitates were not observed. The average grain size of 0% specimen is $82{\mu}m$ and that of 60% and 90% is $56{\mu}m$ and $31{\mu}m$, respectively. The range of grain size in the 0% specimen is uneven in $182{\mu}m$ to $31{\mu}m$, but the grain size of 90% specimen is uniform. With increasing hot forging ratio, the mechanical properties such as tensile strength, elongation, hardness increased and impact toughness increased by grain refinement.
