  • When quiescent cells ate stimulated to enter the cell cycle, the thymidine kinase(TK) gene is transcriptionally activated at the border of Gl and 5. In this report we show that the human TK promoter contains multiple protein-binding sites. By site-directed mutagenesis, we identified a protein-binding site on the human TK promoter requited for conferring Gl-S-regulated transcription to a heterologous promoter and dissociated it functionally from an adjacent protein-binding domain containing an inverted CCAAT motif requited for high basal level expression. Substitution-mutation of this site results in constitutive expression of the neo reporter gene in serum-stimulated fibroblasts, as well as in cells arrested in mid-Gl by a temperature-sensitive mutation. The regulatory domains for the human TK promoter exhibit interesting symmetrical features, including a set of CCAAT motifs and sites similar to the novel Yi protein-binding site recently discovered in the mouse TK promoter. Thus, components of the hTK complex is important for hTK gene regulation.

  • The author has observed a case of ossifying fibroma occured in the left mandibular body area of 19 years old woman. In the serial roentgenograms, the author has drawn following conclusions: 1. The lesion is circumscribed and demarcated from the surrounding bone tissues. 2. The cortical bone of the involved area was expanded and thinned markedly on the site. 3. The radiopacity was increased with more or less mottled appearance on the site.

  • We report a species of Notodontidae, Odontosia patricia Stichel 1918 for the first time from Korea. Two males of O. patricia were collected at the end of May, 2008 from Quercus mongolica forest of Jirisan Mt., a Korea Long-Term Ecological Research site. The notodontid-moth fauna and population changes of three years (2005-2007) from Q. mongolica forest site are provided.

  • In this report, we provide the focus on suggesting a method of estimating & measurement of CBM(Customer Behavior Model). Through the use of internet, a new trend of business for e-CRM on B2C Web Site which is now known as EC has emerged. The Purpose of this study is to identify the relationship between the customers of a shopping mall and CBM characteristics. Result showed that there is a significant relationship between the some customers pattern of shopping mall and CBM, CVM(Customer Visit Model).

  • Bentall`s operation for repair of annuloaortic ectasia has been associated with postoperative bleeding and with false aneurysm of the anastomotic site between the coronary orifice and composite graft.Among 5 cases, 2 cases have been operated direct anastomosis between coronary artery and vascular graft.Remained 3 cases have been operated with doughnutlike Teflon felt buttress. The technique of sandwiching the freed button of aortic wall bearing the coronary artery ostium between an outer Teflon felt doughnutlike buttress and the inner composite graft provides a leak-proof anastomosis. We experienced one case reoperation for bleeding at coronary anastomotic site above method.

  • Tracheo-innominate artery fistula is a rare, but it is one of the gravest complications next to tracheostromy. Early recognition and prompt surgical management is mandatory. The patient was a 66 year old women with MCA infarct who maintained tracheostomy for lyear. She had respiratory arrest due to the excessive bleeding through the tracheostomy site. We report an successful experience for control of bleeding by an innominate artery fistula division and primay suture closure under direct digital compression.

  • Cavernous lymphangioma is a benign tumor of lymphatic origin encountering most frequently in young children, and composed of softly fluctuated monolocular or multilocular cystic masses which developed from embryonic outpouching of the venous system. The prevailing site of this tumor Is at the anterolateral neck region particularly posterior triangle, and occasionally axillary, mesentery and spleen etc. Recently, we have experienced one case of left axillary cavernous lymphangioma, which surgically removed successfully and confirmed histopathologically. We want to report one case of left axillary large cavernous lymphangioma with a brief review of the relevant literatures.

  • Ankle injury is a very common injury. Especially it is the most commonly injured site in cases sports injuries. However, severe open ankle sprain (SOAS), defined as the tearing of the skin over the torn ligament in the ankle, is extremely rare, and no cases have been reported in Korea. In our center, we encountered a patient with a severe ankle open sprain, so we report and discuss that case.
