[here are so many reports that pulsatile blood flow provides physiologic organ perfusions during cardiopulmonary bypass. So, we compared the recent 30 cases undergoing cardiac surgery by Cobe-Stckert pulsatile roller pump with another 30 cases by Polystan nonpulsatile roller pump. Pulsatile flow was applied during aortic-cross clamping period when synchronized to internal EKG simulator, and perfusion mode was changed to continuous nonpulsatile flow after declamping of aorta. Age, sex, weight, and disease entities were comparable and operative techniques were similar between two groups. 1. There were no differences in average ACC time, ECC time, and Operation time. 2. Postoperative artificial respiration time was 6hrs 30mins in nonpulsatile group and 4hrs 48mins in pulsatile group, and detubation time after ventilator weaning was 2hrs 44mins in nonpulsatile group and 1hrs 43mins in pulsatile group. 3. Average pulse pressure was 8mmHg in nonpulsatile group and 55mmHg in pulsatile group, and a mean arterial pressure was 66.0mmHg in nonpulsatile group and 60.7mmHg in pulsatile group. 4. Mean urine-output during ACC;ECC period was 9.717.3;9.913.2ml/kg/hr in nonpulsatile group and 14.215.0;15.817.5 in pulsatile group [p<0, 05], and thereafter progressive decrease of differences in urine output between two groups until POD 2, and lesser amounts of diuretics was needed in pulsatile group during same postoperative period. Serum BUN/Cr level showed no specific difference and urine concentration power was well preserved in both groups. 5. Plasma proteins and other Enzymes showed no differences between two groups, but serum GOT/GPT level was higher in nonpulsatile group till POD 2. 6. Serum Electrolytes showed no differences between two groups. 7. WBC, RBC, Platelet counts, Hgb and Hct were not different and Coagulogram was well preserved in both groups. 8. Plasma free Hgb level was 7.09mg% in pulsatile group compared with 3.48mg% in pulsatile group on POD 1 but was normalized on POD 2. Gross hemoglobinuria after ECC was noted in 6 cases [20%] of pulsatile group and 4 cases [13%] of nonpulsatile group. 9. In both groups, most patients were included in NYHA class III to IV [28 cases;93% in nonpulsatile group, 22 cases;73% in pulsatile group] preoperatively, and well improved to class I to 11[22 cases; 73% in nonpulsatile group, 30 cases; 100% in pulsatile group] postoperatively. There were 7 operative mortalities in nonpulsatile group only, which were 5 cases of TOF with hepatic failure, 1 case of multiple VSDs with low out-put syndrome, and 1 case of mitral valvular heart disease with cardiomyopathy. We concluded that the new, commercially available Cobe-Stckert pulsatile roller pump device was safe, simple, and reliable.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the secondary tasks such as sending text message (STM) and searching navigation (SN) on skin conductance level (SCL) and driving performance of relatively aged and high-experienced drivers. The subjects included 26 taxi drivers; 12 males aged $56.3{\pm}4.4$ with $28.4{\pm}6.4$ years of driving experiences and 14 females aged $55.5{\pm}3.5$ with $19.4{\pm}5.0$ years of driving experiences. All subjects were instructed to keep a constant following distance (30m) from the car ahead and a given vehicle speed (80km/h or 100km/h) in a driving simulator. The relative change of SCL, vehicle velocity deviations, and average following distances were measured during driving only and driving with secondary tasks. The relative change of SCL, average following distance, and vehicle velocity deviation were more increased during the driving with secondary tasks than driving only. The relative change of SCL, vehicle velocity deviation, and average following distance were more affected by driving with 100km/hr than 80km/hr of a given vehicle speed. Secondary tasks increased a work load of drivers in term of SCL change, and decreased driving performance in terms of the vehicle velocity deviation and average following distance.

The main objective of this study is two-fold: 1) to analyze the effect of PG technology application on road user's satisfaction and driving speed, and 2) to investigate the relationship between driver's subjective workload level and their reactions related to the PG technology application. Based on the result of field observation, the experimental scenario for driving simulation study was prepared. The experimental results showed that drivers were more satisfied to the road condition with PG technology applied, and even the pattern of speed reduction was more stable than control condition. The pattern of speed reduction along driver's subjective driving workload level were slightly different by physical road condition, and road user's satisfaction was revealed to be negatively correlated with their subjective driving workload level. This result indicates that depending on situation and driver characteristic, information for the drivers could be nothing more than nuisance that just distracts drivers. In order to facilitate the implementation of PG technology in Korea, further study on related human factors, especially for those who are weak in traffic situations, is recommended.

Statement of problem : Fiber-reinforced posts have lower modulus of elasticity than titanium post or cast post-core. With this similar elasticity to that of dentin, fiber-reinforced posts have been known to have a tendency to reduce the risk of root fracture. However, there were few studies on the teeth restored with fiber-reinforced posts under the condition of reduced periodontal support. Purpose : The purpose of this study was to evaluate the fracture strength and failure mode of endodontically treated teeth restored with fiber-reinforced posts and titanium posts under the condition of reduced periodontal support. Material and method : Extracted human maxillary incisor roots were divided into 3 groups (group 1 carbon fiber post, group 2 : glass fiber post, and group 3 : titanium alloy post). After coronectomy and endodontic treatment, teeth were restored with each post systems and resin core according to the manufacturer's recommendation. Then, teeth with simulated periodontal ligament were embedded in the acrylic resin blocks at the level of 4 mm below the cemento-enamel junction. Each specimen was exposed to $10^5$ load cycles with average 30 N force in $36.5^{\circ}C$ water using a computer-controlled chewing simulator. Loads were applied at $45^{\circ}$ angle to the long axis of the teeth. After cyclic loading, teeth were subjected a compressive load until failure at a crosshead speed of 0.5 mm/min. Fracture strength (N) and failure mode were examined. The fracture strength was analyzed with one-way ANOVA and the Scheffe adjustment at the 95% significance level. Results and conclusion : The results were as follows. 1. There was no statistically significant difference in the mean fracture strength among the groups (P<.05). 2. Carbon fiber post and glass fiber post group showed less root fracture tendency than control group. 3. All specimens with root fractures showed fracture lines above the level of acrylic resin block, except for only one specimen in group 3.

Population dynamics of greenhouse whitefly, Trialeurodes vaporariorum (Westwood), were modeled and simulated to compare the temperature effects of air and tomato leaf inside greenhouse using DYMEX model simulator (pre-programed module based simulation program developed by CSIRO, Australia). The DYMEX model simulator consisted of temperature dependent development and oviposition modules. The normalized cumulative frequency distributions of the developmental period for immature and oviposition frequency rate and survival rate for adult of greenhouse whitefly were fitted to two-parameter Weibull function. Leaf temperature on reversed side of cherry tomato leafs (Lycopersicon esculentum cv. Koko) was monitored according to three tomato plant positions (top, > 1.6 m above the ground level; middle, 0.9 - 1.2 m; bottom, 0.3 - 0.5 m) using an infrared temperature gun. Air temperature was monitored at same three positions using a Hobo self-contained temperature logger. The leaf temperatures from three plant positions were described as a function of the air temperatures with 3-parameter exponential and sigmoidal models. Data sets of observed air temperature and predicted leaf temperatures were prepared, and incorporated into the DYMEX simulator to compare the effects of air and leaf temperature on population dynamics of greenhouse whitefly. The number of greenhouse whitefly immatures was counted by visual inspection in three tomato plant positions to verify the performance of DYMEX simulation in cherry tomato greenhouse where air and leaf temperatures were monitored. The egg stage of greenhouse whitefly was not counted due to its small size. A significant positive correlation between the observed and the predicted numbers of immature and adults were found when the leaf temperatures were incorporated into DYMEX simulation, but no significant correlation was observed with the air temperatures. This study demonstrated that the population dynamics of greenhouse whitefly was affected greatly by the leaf temperatures, rather than air temperatures, and thus the leaf surface temperature should be considered for management of greenhouse whitefly in cherry tomato grown in greenhouses.

Population dynamics of the American serpentine leafminer, Liriomyza trifolii (Burgess), were observed and modeled in order to compare the effects of air and tomato leaf temperatures inside a greenhouse using DYMEX model builder and simulator (pre-programed module based simulation programs developed by CSIRO, Australia). The DYMEX model simulator consisted of a series of modules with the parameters of temperature dependent development and oviposition models of L. trifolii were incorporated from pre-published data. Leaf surface temperatures of cherry tomato leaves (cv. 'Koko') were monitored according to three tomato plant positions (top, > 1.8 m above the ground level; middle, 0.9 - 1.2 m; bottom, 0.3 - 0.5 m) using an infrared temperature gun. Air temperature was monitored at the same three positions using a self-contained temperature logger. Data sets for the observed air temperature and average leaf surface temperatures were collected (top and bottom surfaces), and incorporated into the DYMEX simulator in order to compare the effects of air and leaf surface temperature on the population dynamics of L. trifolii. The initial population consisted of 50 eggs, which were laid by five female L. trifolii in early June. The number of L. trifolii larvae was counted by visual inspection of the tomato plants in order to verify the performance of DYMEX simulation. The egg, pupa, and adult stage of L. trifolii could not be counted due to its infeasible of visual inspection. A significant positive correlation between the observed and the predicted numbers of larvae was found when the leaf surface temperatures were incorporated into the DYMEX simulation (r = 0.97, p < 0.01), but no significant positive correlation was observed with air temperatures(r = 0.40, p = 0.18). This study demonstrated that the population dynamics of L. trifolii was affected greatly by the leaf temperatures, though to little discernible degree by the air temperatures, and thus the leaf surface temperature should be for a consideration in the management of L. trifolii within cherry tomato greenhouses.
For two input ESD protection schemes utilizing the NMOS protection device or the lvtr_thyristor protection device, which is suitable for high-frequency CMOS ICs, we attempt an in-depth comparison study on the HBM ESD protection level in terms of lattice heating inside the protection devices and the peak voltage applied to the gate oxides in the input buffer through DC, mixed-mode transient, and AC analyses utilizing the 2-dimensional device simulator. For this purpose, we suggest a method for the equivalent circuit modeling of the input HBM test environment for the CMOS chip equipped with the input ESD protection circuit. And by executing mixed-mode simulations including up to four protection devices and analyzing the results for five different test modes, we attempt a detailed analysis on the problems which can be occurred in a real HBM test. In this procedure, we explain about the strength and weakness of the two protection schemes as an input protection circuit for high-frequency ICs, and suggest guidelines relating to the design of the protection devices.

Various evaluation systems using simulators have been adopted widely for the purpose of training and examination, including marine engineering education area. This paper suggests a PC based evaluation scoring system for simulators where the operation ability of machineries and background knowledges of trainees or examinees are able to be assessed relatively. The scores are based on the 100 point resulted from their responses for a given evaluation scenario under a PID tuning simulation. The mistakes they make during the operation time are integrated firstly to get error sum, and the error sum is transformed secondly to 100 point score according to a formula where the knowledge level of examinee's groups can be compensated and considered reasonably. The implementation result of evaluation system for the given control loop is described and analyzed to show the effectiveness of the suggested configuration as an evaluation tool.

The network capability to accomplish its functions in a timely fashion under failures and attacks is known as survivability. Ad hoc routing protocols have been studied and extended to various domains, such as Intelligent Transport Systems (ITSs), Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), underwater acoustic networks, and Internet of Things (IoT) focusing on different aspects, such as security, QoS, energy. The existing solutions proposed in this domain incur substantial overhead and eventually become burden on the network, especially when there are fewer attacks or no attack at all. There is a need that the effectiveness of these routing protocols be analyzed in the presence of Denial of Service (DoS) attacks without any intrusion detection or prevention system. This will enable us to establish and identify the inherently stable routing protocols that are capable to survive longer in the presence of these attacks. This work presents a DoS attack case study to perform theoretical analysis of survivability on node and network level in the presence of DoS attacks. We evaluate the performance of reactive and proactive routing protocols and analyse their survivability. For experimentation, we use NS-2 simulator without detection or prevention capabilities. Results show that proactive protocols perform better in terms of throughput, overhead and packet drop.
Open-water sediment disposal has many applications in costal construction. Dumping of sediment in open water can be divided into descending stage under water and sedimentation stage on the seabed, and retained rate is evaluated from analyzed results of these two successive stages. Descending particle cloud have two distinct thermal and swam phase, and trajectory equations for each phase are derived to describe settling velocity and radius of particle cloud. For sedimentation stage, a numerical simulator is used to calculate growth factors for particle fiction angle and current velocity. Retained rate is defined as a mass rate of remained sediment inside the circle which has a center at dumping point on the sea level and user-defined effective radius. Retained rate map for Singapore coast is presented with water depth of 20 m, current velocity of 0.0~1.5 m/s, and effective radius of 5 m. It will decrease sediment mass loss during disposal operation and minimize surrounding environmental pollution.
