  • Rice Processing Complex(RPC) have being constructed with a rice mill plant and a facility of drying and storage to overcome problems caused by UR and to produce good quality of rice. An optimal design of a rice mill plant was required to successfully construct and operate it. The development of a simulation model was essential to the design of a rice mill plant. So, all the objectives of this study were to develop a simulation model for the design of a rice mill plant and to develop and evaluate the rice mill system. In this study the simulation model was developed to design a rice mill plant using SLAMSYSTEM, one of simulation languages. The results of this study were as followings. 1. A simulation model was developed with SLAMSYSTEM to represent the processes of a rice mill plant. The simulation model was used to design a rice mill pilot plant with the capacity of 0.5 ton per hour. The rice mill pilot plant was analyzed by the model with alternatives. 2. In the simulation the rice mill system was much influenced by the separating efficiency of a brown rice separator. Especially, the bottleneck of grain flow occurred at the buffer tank for brown rica. separator under 50% separating efficiency of brown rice separator. Hence, as the alternative simulation was conducted under 60% , 70% separating efficiency of brown rice separator, the bottleneck of the system could be minimized at the 60% separating efficiency of brown rice separator. 3. In the alternative simulation the bottleneck of the system was minimized under the hulling capacity of 1 t/h and 60% separating efficiency of brown rice separator with the capacity of 1 t/h. Under such a condition the max. weight of waiting entities at buffer tanks was less 250kg. So, the capacities of the buffer tanks were determined in the basis of simulation results. 4. The milled rice recovery and head rice recovery of the milling system were 74% and 92% in the simulation, respectively. These results of simulation almost corresponded to those of actual rice mill plants. The developed simulation model could be well applied to design a rice mill plant.

  • It is very common in today 's design practice to simulate a big design with a large set of test vectors thereby generating a huge set of data (simulation results) to be analyzed. As the design grows, the simulation results grow and become harder to handled. In this paper, we present algorithms for the compression and regeneration of simulation results. The compression is performed by sampling nets in a circuit. If the user wants to examine the lost part of the data, it is quickly regenerated by applying incremental simulation technique. Experimental results obtained for several practical circuits show that the compression ratio of 10 is easily obtained while maintaining a reasonably fast regeneration of data on a 15.7 MIPS workstation. Using the proposed method we can effectively reduce debug cycle time.

  • Korean High Speed Train (KHST) has been tested on high speed line in JungBu site since it was developed in 2002. The KHST figured 7 cars was modeled for dynamic simulation with Vampire program. and the data acquisition system was used to test successfully the on-line test for proving the dynamic performance of KHST. The comparison between test and simulation results for dynamic behavior of KHST was tried in this paper and it was very difficult because the environmental conditions and running conditions have an effect on the test results and these conditions are unable to be modeled for dynamic analysis. Also the parameters for data acquisition system for test are usually not same to simulation conditions. Therefor, in this paper the acceleration data after filtering with low pass filter below 1Hz were used to compare between test and simulation results because the low frequency range is useful to evaluate the dynamic performance for railway vehicle system, so as steady state curving acceleration. The results show that both are similar in low frequency range.

  • Many papers have studied computer simulations of elastic bodies undergoing large deflections and large deformations. But there have not been many attempts to check the validity of the numerical formulations because the simulation results could not be matched without correct input data such as material properties and damping effects. In this paper, these values are obtained from real experiment with a high-speed camera and a data acquisition system. The simulation results with the absolute nodal coordinate formulation (ANCF) are compared with the results of real experiments. Two examples, a thin cantilevers beam and a thin plate, are studied to verify whether the simulation results are well matched to experimental results.

  • A heat exchanger (100,000 W) using two-phase loop thermosyphons (TLT) was developed as a waste heat recovery system. An experimental and simulation study was carried out on the heat transfer characteristics of TLT heat exchanger, and the results from the experiments were used to see the possibility which the TLT heat exchanger could be an alternate solution for waste heat recovery system. The experimental results showed the provisional results as a waste heat recovery system. Also computer simulation code can predict the TLT system about the effects of various variables for the operation. Computer simulation results based on the thermal resistance networks were compared with the experimental results. The study clearly shows that the computer simulation for the TLT heat exchanger can Predict the most cases of the affecting parameters involved, provided that correct empirical correlations are used.

  • CADET is used to analyze the performance of the missile. Miss distance is calculated for a given lateral fin force saturation level due to the aerodynamic characteristics, target acceleration, and glint and fading noises which is assumed as Gaussian noises. As .alpha.-.betha. filter is studied to attenuate the noises, the results are compared with those of without filter. For the easy simulation, the transfer function of a discrete .alpha.-.betha. filter is converted into the continuous model. Simulation results show that the results of CADET simulation is similar to those of Monte-Carlo simulation. Moreover CADET is the better in computing time demand.

  • In this study, digital simulation with nonlinear modeling is carried out to analyse the performance of a hydraulic servomotor system developed for the position control of a large inertia. Nonlinear element, such as nonlinear pressure flow relationships of servovalve, valve spool limits, nonlinear friction, and backlash and resilience of gear system are included in the simulation along with the dynamic characteristics of variable delivery pump compensation mechanism. Simulation results are compared with experimental results for both step and sinusoidal inputs. Independent of input magnitude, both results are in good agreement with minor differences in detail.

  • Streamline simulation researches have been extensively accomplished due to the swiftness of computation and the reduction of numerical dispersion. In this study, we developed a streamline simulation model using a semianalytical solution of ID transport equation. To validate accuracy of the developed model, we compared simulation results of contaminant transport, which were acquired by streamline simulation models using an analytical solution, a numerical solution, and a semianalytical solution. The developed model using the semianalytical solution matched well with the model using an analytical solution. However, streamline simulation model using a numerical solution showed numerical dispersion. For an advection-dominant flow, there was little difference in the simulation results between the developed model and tile analytical model, but the differences between the analytical model and the numerical model were cleary shown. From the comparison of computing time we know that the streamline simulation using the semianalytical solution is 2-60 times as fast as the streamline simulation using the numerical solution.

  • In this paper, we present the results of simulation by running parallel VHDL simulation on typical MPP(Massively Parallel Processor) systems such as IBM SP2 and SGI Origin 2000. Parallel simulation uses the synchronous protocol and parallel program is implemented using MPI(Message Passing Interface) based on message passing model, so that it can urn on any parallel programming environment which supports MPI, a standard communication library. And then GVT(Global Virtual Time) computation for parallel simulation is based on the global broadcasting with MPI_Bcast(), which is a standard function in MPI and piggybacking. Our benchmark exhibits that as size of VHDL grows, the parallel simulation has a better performance compared with the sequential simulation. In addition, we also show the results of comparison between IBM SP2 and SGI Origin 2000 by applying the same application to those indirectly.

  • A computer program was developed for simulating performance(capacity, power consumption and etc.) of air-conditioners using compressor, fin-tube heat exchanger and capillary tube. The program consists of five modules, condenser, evaporator, compressor, capillary tube simulation modules and properties modules of refrigerant and moist air, The present program is focused on R22 only, however can be easily extended for other refrigerants such as R407C and R410A just by adding property modules. The compressor simulation module utilizes performance maps supplied by manufacturers-map-based model. The condenser and evaporator simulation modules are modeled using tube-by-tube method. Simulation results(capacity and power consumption) were compared with calorimeter test results of actual air-conditioners of window and split types, where more than 82% of the data lied within ${\pm}5$% of the predicted results.
