Improved P&O algorithm for rapidly changing insolation (일사량 급변에 대한 P&O 알고리즘의 개선)

  • As the maximum power operating point (MPOP) of photovoltaic (PV) power generation systems changes with varying atmospheric conditions such as solar radiation and temperature, an important consideration in the design of efficient PV system is to track the MPOP correctly. Although the efficiency of these Maximum Power Point Tracking algorithms is usually high, it drops noticeably in case of rapidly changing atmospheric conditions. This paper describes common MPPT control algorithm: Constant Voltage Control, Perturbation and Observation(P&O), Incremental Conductance (IncCnd) and proposes a new MPPT algorithm based on P&O algorithm. The conception and control principles of the proposed MPPT method are explained in detail and its validity of the proposed method is verified through several simulated results. As it doesn't use digital signal processor, this MPPT method has the merits of both a cost efficiency and a simple control circuit design. Therefore, it is considered that the proposed MPPT method is proper to low power, low cost PV applications.

  • This paper describes the control of grid connected transformerless type PV power conditioning system, which is simple and more efficient than the usual transformer type system. With the modeling and analysis of power system, the validity of control strategy is well verified through the simulation and experimental results.

  • This paper presents a CMOS interface circuit for vibration energy harvesting with MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking). In the proposed system a PMU (Power Management Unit) is employed at the output of a DC-DC boost converter to provide a regulated output with low-cost and simple architecture. In addition an MPPT controller using FOC (Fractional Open Circuit) technique is designed to harvest maximum power from vibration devices and increase efficiency of overall system. The AC signal from vibration devices is converted into a DC signal by an AC-DC converter, and then boosted through the DC-DC boost converter. The boosted signal is converted into a duty-cycled and regulated signal and delivered to loads by the PMU. A full-wave rectifier using active diodes is used as the AC-DC converter for high efficiency, and a DC-DC boost converter architecture using a schottky diode is employed for a simple control circuitry. The proposed circuit has been designed in a 0.35um CMOS process, and the designed chip occupies $915{\mu}m{\times}895{\mu}m$. Simulation results shows that the maximum power efficiency of the entire system is 83.4%.

  • Photovoltaic (PV) pumping systems with maximum power point tracking (MPPT) technique aims at obtaining the highest possible power to the pump under various insolation and temperature, thus overcomes the mismatch between the photovoltaic panel and the pumping load. A simple method of tracking the maximum power points and forcing the system to operate close to these points is presented in this paper. The MC68HC908GP32 micro control unit (MCU) is employed to implement the proposed MPPT controller. Experimental results will also show the performances of the photovoltaic pumping system with the MPPT technique.

  • This paper proposes a simple MPPT control scheme of a Current-Control-Loop Error system Based that can be obtains a lot of advantage to compare with another digital control method, P&O and IncCond algorithm, that is applied mostly a PV system. An existent method is needed an expensive processor such as DSP that calculated to change the measure power of a using current and voltage sensor at the once. Therefore, it is applied a small home power generation system that required many expenses. But, a proposed method is easy to solve the cost reduction and power unbalance problems that it is used by control scheme to limit error of a current control of common sensor. This proposed algorithm had verified through a simulation and an experiment on battery charger using PIC that is the microprocessor of a low price.

  • In this paper, a PV multi-string PCS with a grid-connection is proposed. An improved MPPT algorithm for the PV multi-string PCS is suggested. Each PV string has its own MPP tracker and the proposed MPPT algorithm prevents LMPP tracking due to power ripple. In the PV PCS with single-phase inverter has a large current ripple at twice the grid frequency. The current ripple reduction algorithm without external component is suggested. Also, this paper proposes a simple control method to achieve sharing of the PV string voltage and current among the interleaved parallel boost converters. All algorithms and controllers are implemented on a single-chip microcontroller. Experimental results obtained on a 3kW prototype show high performance of the proposed PV multi-string PCS.

  • This paper proposes a novel maximum power point tracking(MPPT) control algorithm considering insolation to improve efficiency of PV system. The propoed algorithm is composed perturb and observe(PO) method and constant voltage(CV) method. PO method is simple to realize and CV method is possible to tracking MPP with low insolation. Response characteristics of proposed algorithm is compared to conventional PO method with insolation variation. This paper proves the validity of proposed algorithm through the analysis result.

  • In this paper, Simple and inexpensive analog maximum power point tracker (MPPT) algorithm for photovoltaic power system and low power system of doesn't use digital signal processor (DSP). The control circuit is composed such that the actual current and voltage are sensed directly from the PV array. These two signals are then multiplied by a single-chip multiplier. The multiplier output go through different time constants genesis pulse width modulated to switch. Finally those were verified through simulation.
