This study was carried out to discriminate Hanwoo from the milking and hybrid cattle by detection of MC1R gene related to bovine hair color. One hundred sixty six samples were collected from the abattoir (n = 106) and local market (n = 60). The beef from abattoir were originated from Hanwoo (n=27), Holstein (n=29), Hybrid (n=45) and imported cattle (n=5), respectively. The beef from market consisted of Hanwoo (n=36), Holstein (n=7) and imported ones (n=17). Commercialized screening kit (Kogenebiotec, Korea) was used for MC1R gene analysis. As a result, Hanwoo was discriminated from Holstein. However, 9 of 45 hybrid and 11 of 22 imported beef samples were indistinguishable from Hanwoo. It could be explained by second generation of crossing of Hanwoo with Holstein or the cattle with silver or yellow hair. This results suggest that additional tests as well as MC1R gene detection be needed to confirm Hanwoo beef among cattle beef.

This study was jointly conducted by the department of nursing science in a college of natural sciences and the furniture design department in the art and physical education to research the critical factors for the furniture development for the Elderly in consideration of the surging number of senior citizens not only in Korea but also globally. On the basis of the Elderly's physical and mental characteristics investigated by the department of nursing science, the furniture design guideline for the Elderly was presented. The following points should be considered at designing the furniture for the Elderly. First, multiple functions like chair with removable toilet bowl and part lighting in bed are advantageous. Second, the dimension of furniture such as chair, bed and sofa should be ergonomically thought in terms of structure for the Elderly's convenience. Third, the bright and vivid color of furniture should be chosen from the aspect of the design, while the different kinds of blue should be avoided. Small patterns and high glossy are not recommendable, but various kinds of feelings in different shapes are suggested. Forth, the material should contribute to the fracture prevention and for that sponge, fabric and leather smoothing the surface of furniture are recommendable as the finishing treatment in a wide variety of colors.

The survey was conducted by using questionnaires in order to investigate the expectation of over middle aged people on dietary living during their elderly life. Many persons(41.9%) anticipate that some kind of change will happen in dietary living during their elderly life. They are willing to prepare their own meals by themselves (73.5% of male and 86.6% of female). It is expected that they prefer various kinds of foods, korean traditional foods, home-made foods, natural food to processed food, and nutritionally balanced foods. The balance of nutrition and easiness of digestion should be primarily considered as a base of food choice, and then taste or convenience. The result of this study indicates that korean traditional food culture can not be easily changed. If food industries had a plan to produce some items for future silver generation, they should make efforts to develop processed foods considered the nutrition and digestibility, natural foods packed conveniently for home-cooking, and food preparation equipment used easily by elderly people.

Purpose - This study investigates shopping behaviors and effects focusing on the seniors in 50s and 60s based on their buying satisfaction in online shopping. The study investigated causal relation between effects having influence upon online shopping behavior to give theoretical base on the use of online shopping. The study gave implications of consumption attitude of silver generation as well as senior consumers in aging society. Research design, data, and methodology - The subject was senior consumers who have experienced online shopping to be sensitive to the fashion and to have active and reasonable consumption pattern and to be active and to have positive value. Results - This study investigated the mediating effect on purchase satisfaction of the 50s and the 60s upon online shopping to examine online shopping use and effects. The subject was the ones in their 50s and 60s in Gyeonggi and Chungnam who had experienced online shopping. All of hypotheses of models at PLS analysis were supported. Conclusions - Both information innovation and self-satisfaction showed positive influence upon the ease of and also access of the use. In addition, the access to the use had positive influence upon the purchase intention in retailers' online shopping.

2010 is the year when the Korean baby boomer generation faces retirement. With the need for affective strategies to keep this population healthy, the government has placed much effort to increase the regular physical activity (PA) level of older adults. Yet the prevalence of active seniors is still relatively low. This paper reviews the recent government strategies and efforts to enhance the physical activity levels of older adults and the PA programs provided in the community settings by major organizations and institutions. In addition, the problems of the current approaches are shown, and based on a review, the author provides five suggestions for promoting the PA level of older adults as follows. First, specific physical activity goals and objectives for older adults should be included in the National Health Plan 2020. Second, the recommendations for PA for seniors, which include a proper intensity, duration and frequency of exercise, should be provided. Third, the role of organizations and institutions should be rearranged for the proper dissemination of government provided community-based exercise programs. Fourth, a standard quality-control system should be provided, and finally, an evidence-based exercise program, which should be specifically created for the older Korean population, should be developed. Physical activity offers opportunities for people to extend the years of their active independent life and reduce functional limitations. To maximize the effects of government efforts to promote PA for seniors, we feel the comments provided in this paper should be closely examined.

The purpose of this study is to understand what the Glam Style is, focus on the movie "Velvet Goldmine". The Glam Style is refered early 1970s Glam rockers' costume, typified by silver lurex, corksoled platform, men in make-up, personified, for example, by David Bowie, Marc Bolan, New York Dolls, Roxy Music and Iggy Pop. To approach the Glam Style comprehensively, I have divided the formative background of Glam Style into the improvement technology, the advent of the young generation and the diffusion of mass media, the rock music fever and influence on Pop art. Following is the result of analyzing of the character in the movie. First, Brian Slade has the flamboyant transsexual image by skin-tight space suit, glitter pants, lurex, satin and sequined stretch fabrics, vivid color, gauze make-up, feather boa. Second, Curt Wild expresses the outrageous sexual image by black leather jacket, emphasized black eyes make-up. Third, Mandy Slade appears the exaggerated and frivolous image by gold leopard patterned one piece, fur coat, ornamented with beads, tropical make-up, spangles and the costume jewelry. Forth, Auther Stuart has the complex image by black leather jacket, velvet jacket, skin-tight bold shirt, glitter pants, glitter make-up, silk scarf, cherry-red sunglasses. The characteristics meaning of Glam Style implied in this formative characteristic could be presented as the experimental expression of androgynous, the hordes of outrageous alien and kitsch parody.

This paper presents a design methodology for developing a new cellular phone configuration. A case study is performed using robust design process to satisfy predicted needs from new customers under the requirement analysis process. Diagrams and selection matrices are drawn by using several useful system engineering methods. This paper presents the optimal LCD panel size of cellular phone. A structural analysis has been carried out to compare the deformation of LCD panel thickness at specific conditions by using ANSYS application tool. This entire design result can support the configuration and quality improvements for a new product for new customers.

Sarid형의 감쇠 전반사 구조를 통하여 장거리 표면 프라즈몬을 여기시켜 은-피리딘 경계면에서 표면증강 라만산란 실험을 수행하였다. 장거리 표면 플라즈몬의 여기를 확인하기 위해 은을 $100\AA$으로 증착하여 실험한 결과, 그 진행을 눈으로 볼 수 있었다. 이것을 이용해서 은 표면에 흡착된 피리딘의 라만신호를 관측하여 체적 상태 및 화학적 흡착이 있는 경우의 피리딘의 라만신호와 비교, 분석하였는데 장거리 표면 프라즈몬을 이용한 표면증강 라만산란 실험을 아직까지 보고된 바 없다.

This study aims to visualize the friction and wear behaviors of metal coatings in real time. The main mechanism of wear is identified by observing all the processes in which wear occurs. The friction coefficients of the moments are monitored to confirm the relationship between the friction and wear characteristics of the coating. Thin Ag coatings, which are several hundred nanometers in thickness, are prepared by depositing Ag atoms on silicon substrates through a sputtering method. A pin-on-disk-type tribo-tester is installed inside a scanning electron microscope (SEM) to evaluate the friction and wear characteristics of the Ag coating. A fine diamond pin is brought into contact with the Ag coating surface, and a load of 20 mN is applied. The contact pressure is calculated to be approximately 15 GPa. The moments of wear caused by the sliding motion are visualized, and the changes in the friction characteristics according to each step of wear generation are monitored. The Ag coating can be confirmed to exhibit a wear phenomenon by gradually peeling off the surface of the coating on observing the friction and wear characteristics of the coating in real time inside the SEM. This can be explained by a typical plowing-type wear mechanism.

Surfaces with various roughnesses were produced through laser processing, and the anisotropy and hydrophobicity of the surfaces were examined in the context of the microstructures. The fine particles transferred to the glass surface exhibited different sizes, and the roughness increased. Due to the change in the roughness, the liquid could not penetrate the space between the fine particles, and it was thus exposed to the air. We analyzed this phenomenon using the combined Wenzel and Cassie-Baxter models. Excessive fine particle formation on the substrate tended to increase the roughness and surface energy. The silver-glass-air contact analysis could clarify the mechanism of the reduction of the contact angle and differences in the metastable and stable states when the particles did not completely cover the glass substrate. The formation of microstructures with fine particles through the laser selective deposition led to the generation of an anisotropic surface as the water droplets diffused toward the glass substrate with a relatively high surface energy level.
