Silver nanoparticles have been synthesized by liquid-phase and alcohol reduction methods. Silver-doped silica-complex nanoparticles were prepared using a sol-gel process. The formation, structure, morphology, and particle size of the nanoparticles have been studied using several techniques. Silver nanoparticles of size of 30-40 nm were formed successfully by alcohol reduction. TEM images show that both the concentration and the molecular weight of polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) considerably affect the size of the emerging silver nanoparticles. The number of silver-doped silica-complex particles increased by a mercapto-group treatment that showed a narrower size distribution than that of silica treated with amino groups. The silver/polyester and silver-doped silica/polyester masterbatch chips showed excellent antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli.
We have studied a printability of synthesized silver nano solon ITO glass substrate. The highly concentrated polymeric dispersant-assisted silver nano sol was prepared by variation of molecular weight and control of initial nucleation and growth of silver nanoparticles, to achive dispersion stability and controlling the size of silver nanoparticles. The synthesized silver nano-sol was tested for printability to explore the possibility of micro-electrodes patterning on ITO glass substrate. The silver micro-electrode with 50${\sim}100{\mu}m$ line width was formed on ITO glass substrate.
In this paper, we study almost complex Norden Silver manifolds and Kaehler-Norden Silver manifolds. We define adapted connections of first, second and third type to an almost complex Norden Silver manifold and establish the necessary and sufficient conditions for the integrability of almost complex Norden Silver structure. Moreover, we investigate that a complex Norden Silver map is a harmonic map between Kaehler-Norden Silver manifolds.
The phenomenon of increasing aging population is one of the crucial social and economic issues in these day. In this paper, drawn from the industrial application cases and relevant literatures, we present the typology of ICT convergent applications targeted for silver generation, referred as silver ICT. Subsequently, the contributional value of ICT as the enabling technology is estimated. We firstly conduct keyword search to collect currently used silver ICT applications. Secondly, drawn from the social welfare literature, we organize distinctive needs of the silver generations. Then, on the basis of task technology fit framework, typology of ICT enabled silver applications is organized through the fit of ICT in the sense of fulfilling those silver needs. Finally, using the industry input-output table figures, potential ICT contributions for silver ICT are estimated. The proposed silver ICT typology and ICT contributions provides useful insights for further research in the area of ICT convergence and silver market research.
Effects of silver nanoparticles on the phytopathogenic fungal growth were investigated. Fungal phytopathogens, especially for sclerotium-forming species Rhizoctonia solani, Sclerotinia sclerotiorum and S. minor, were selected due to their important roles in survival and disease cycle. Tests for the fungal hyphal growth revealed that silver nanoparticles remarkably inhibit the hyphal growth in a dose-dependent manner. Different antimicrobial efficiency of the silver nanoparticle was observed among the fungi on their hyphal growth in the following order, R. solani > S. sclerotiorum > S. minor. Tests for the sclerotial germination growth revealed that the nanoparticles showed significant inhibition effectiveness. In particular, the sclerotial germination growth of S. sclerotiorum was most effectively inhibited at low concentrations of silver nanoparticles. A microscopic observation revealed that hyphae exposed to silver nanoparticles were severely damaged, resulting in the separation of layers of hyphal wall and collapse of hyphae. This study suggests the possibility to use silver nanoparticles as an alternative to pesticides for scleotium-forming phytopathogenic fungal controls.
A deep understanding of the metallic silver catalysts formation process on oxide support and the formation mechanism is of great scientific and practical meaning for exploring better catalyst preparing procedures. Herein the thermal decomposition process of supported silver catalyst with silver oxalate as the silver precursor in the presence of ethylenediamine and ethanolamine is carefully investigated by employing a variety of characterization techniques including thermal analysis, in situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and X-ray diffraction. The formation mechanism of supported silver particles was revealed. Results showed that formation of metallic silver begins at about $100^{\circ}C$ and activation process is essentially complete below $145^{\circ}C$. Formation of silver was accompanied by decomposition of oxalate group and removal of organic amines. Catalytic performance tests using the epoxidation of ethylene as a probe reaction showed that rapid activation (for 5 minutes) at a relatively low temperature ($170^{\circ}C$) afforded materials with optimum catalytic performance, since higher activation temperatures and/or longer activation times resulted in sintering of the silver particles.
In this study, we introduce a yellowing phenomenon in silver nanowire laser patterning and attempt to understand the cause of this phenomenon. Silver nanowire is a promising alternative to indium tin oxide as a transparent electrode owing to its flexibility. Additionally, silver nanowire can be easily patterned by laser ablation, which is free of dangerous chemicals. However, a yellowish color change reducing visibility is observed on the patterned area of the silver nanowires, and this yellowing phenomenon prevents the use of silver nanowire as a transparent electrode material. We concluded that resolidified debris of melted and evaporated silver nanowires after laser ablation causes the color change of the electrode. Further research is needed to determine a means of mitigating this yellowing phenomenon.

We have studied the inkjet patterning of synthesized aqueous silver nano-sol on interface-controlled ITO glass substrate. Furthermore, we designed the conductive ink for direct inkjet patterning on bare ITO glass substrate. The first, the highly concentrated polymeric dispersant-assisted silver nano sol was prepared by variation of molecular weight and control of initial nucleation and growth of silver nanoparticles. The high concentration of batch-synthesized silver nano sol was possible to 40 wt%. At the same time the particle size of silver nanoparticles was below $10{\sim}20nm$. The second, the synthesized silver nano sol was inkjet - patterned on ITO glass substrate. The connectivity and width of fine line depended largely on the wettability of silver nano sol on ITO glass substrate, which was controlled by surfactant. The relationship was understood by wetting angle. The fine line of silver electrode as fine as $50{\sim}100\;{\mu}m$ was successfully formed on ITO glass substrate. The last, the direct inkjet-patternable silver nano sol on bare ITO glass substrate was designed also.
In recent day, there is much interest in the biocidal activity of silver since silver is known to be safe and effective as disinifectant and biocidal material against coliforms and viruses. In this study, hydrogels containing silver acetate as antibacterial agent have been prepared using gamma rays irradiation. The hydrogels are composed of poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP), poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG), carrageenan and silver acetate. The concentration of solution was 9 wt%. The ratio of PVP : PEG : carrageenan was 6 : 1 : 2. The concentration of the silver acetate were 0, 0.01, 0.03, 0.05 and 0.07% and Gamma irradiation dose was 25 kGy. The Gamma irradiation dose in hydrogels with 0.01% silver acetate were 20 kGy, 35 kGy, 50 kGy, 65 kGy, and 80 kGy. The results showed that 0.01% silver acetate concentration of hydrogels by 25 kGy irradiation dose showed the highest antibacterial activity against E. coli and Staphylococcus aureus. Moreover, antibacterial activity of various Gamma irradiation dose in hydrogels treated 0.01% silver acetate showed highest 35 kGy irradiation dose against Staphylococcus aureus.
