Space charge characteristics of XLPE/EPDM laminate with interfacial condition (XLPE/EPDM laminate의 계면조건에 따른 전하형성 특성)

  • It was investigated that space charge characteristics of EPDM/XLPE laminates as a function of interfacial condition. There were no effects in charge accumulation characteristics at EPDM/XLPE laminate samples pasted treated silicone oil and silicone grease. But when the crosslinking coagent (TMPTA) was pasted in laminate samples, there was no space charge in interface of EPDM/XLPE laminate. There were no effects in the laminate sample pasted silicone grease dissolved crosslinking coagent. In the coupling agent pasted EPDM/ XLPE laminate sample, space charge was accumulated in XLPE side caused by coupling agent.

  • It was investigated that space charge characteristics of EPDX/LPE laminates as a function of interfacial condition. There were no effects in charge accumulation characteristics at EPDM/XLPE laminate samples which were pasted with silicone oil and silicone grease. But when the crosslinking coagent (TMPTA) was pasted in laminate samples, there was no space charge in interface of EPDE/XLPE laminate and no effects in the laminate sample pasted with silicone grease dissolved crosslinking coagent.   • Silicone (polydimethylsiloxane) has widely been used in breast augmentation and other cosmetic procedures. Despite the stability of its chemical nature, local and systemic adverse reactions associated with silicone have been reported. There were several patients who suffered from pulmonary embolism associated with injection of silicone. Silicone-induced pneumonitis and sudden death after subcutaneous injection of silicone has been also described. However, there is no case in the literature of clinically diagnosed silicone-induced pulmonary embolism in Korea. We experienced 2 women who developed respiratory symptoms after illicit subcutaneous injection of silicone for the purpose of colporrhaphy. One patient was admitted because of dyspnea, chest pain, hemoptysis and bilateral pulmonary infiltration after repeated injection of silicone. Pulmonary function test initially showed severe restrictive pattern and transbronchial lung biopsy disclosed numerous oil-like material filling the alveolar septal capillaries and macrophages. High resolution C. T., bronchoalveolar lavage, transbronchial lung biopsy and pulmonary angiogram disclosed abnormalities compatible with silicone fluid-induced pulmonary embolism. The other patient expired shortly after arrival in the emergency room. It is suggested that illicit injecion of silicone fluid carries serious respiratory problems and can induce pulmonary embolism followed by acute respiratory failure.

Partial Discharge Characteristics of Silicone Rubber for Insulator by Impurities (불순물에 따른 애자용 실리콘고무의 부분방전특성)

  • In this paper, the $\Phi$-q-n pattern and average discharge power of silicone rubber have investigated effect of inter impurities. It's changed impurities by silicone oil, water and copper. Applied voltage is AC 3, 4, 4.5, 5, 5.5[kV]. And data acquisition time is 10 second(600 cycles). These results suggest that partial discharge(PD) is shower negative polar than positive polar at 3[kV]. Positive polar's PD value increased with increase of applied voltage. The Conductivities expressed same $\Phi$-q-n pattern in positive polar and negative polar at phase region.

Viscoelastic properties of electrorheological fluids (전기유변유체의 점탄성 특성에 관한연구)

  • Electrorheological(ER) fluid's storage shear modulus(G') and loss factor(${\eta}$) have been directly measured using small amplitude forced oscillating rheometer as a function of oscillating frequency, strain amplitude and applied electric field. Two types of experiment were performed , (a) frequency sweep and (b) amplitude sweep. Two kinds of sample were employed for this experiment ; cornstarch particles in corn oil and zeolite particles in silicone oil. The storage shear modulus was a strong function of driving frequency. Generally, the modulus increased with driving frequency. On the other hand, the loss factor was not well behaved as storage modulus, but as the driving frequency increases the loss factor slightly decreases was the trend of the material's characteristics. Also the modulus was a strong function of strain amplitude. Generally, modulus decreased with increasing strain, but loss factor increases slightly with increasing strain amplitude. For G', cornstarch in corn oil ER fluid has higher values than zeolite based fluid as we increased applied electric field. On the other hand, zeolite based fluid has higher values for ${\eta}$. There is a reasonable agreement between theoretical calculation and experiment.

  • The transfer behaviors of three Polyarmatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) from soil to non-aqueous phase liquid (NAPL) were investigated. The three different PAHs were phenanthrene, anthracene, and pyrene. The used NAPLs were silicone oil and paraffine oil. The percentage of the remained PAHs into soil were similar without the relation to kinds of NAPLs. And the transfer of PAHs into NAPLs was fastened until 1 day as the increase of mixing rate but in the case of 450 rpm, the remained PAHs into soil was increased after 1 day because NAPLs was emulsified.

  • For Percutaneous control of the degree of constriction after pulmonary artery banding, we developed an adjustable banding device that was operated by oil pressure. This consists of a stainless steel snare, a polyethylene tube with silicone oil, and a screw adjuster. Five dogs underwent banding of the pulmonary artery or the descending aorta with this device. This band could be effectively and finely adjusted. Although these studies are preliminary, they suggest that a reversible pulmonary artery band can be performed.

Effects of Aluminium Alloy on the Oxidative Stability of Frying Oil

  • Aluminium alloy, comprising water, silicone manganese and porous aluminium carrier added into soybean oil in order to investigated its effect on polar lipid content, polymer content, conjugated dienoic acid and free fatty acid value during deep-fat frying at 185$^{\circ}C$. Increase rates of polar lipid and polymer content of the frying ell were reduced about one thirds of the oil without aluminium alloy during deep-fat frying. The aluminium alloy, however, have no significantly effect to inhibit the increase of conjugated dienoic acid and free fatty acid value. Treatment of the frying oil with aluminium alloy was found to be able to inhibit polymer and polar lipid formation.

  • Purpose: Wound healing and scar management of donor site after skin graft should not be overlooked. Patients continue to complain of dryness, itching sensation. Such discomfort can cause irritation to the patients and lead to delayed healing or secondary infection. Thus, the author predicted Eucalyptus Oil, which acts on Transient Receptor Potential Melastatin 8 would be effective in regulating scar by reducing itching sensation in donor site when combining conventional silicone materials. Methods: The study was performed on 30 patients who underwent split thickness skin graft with lateral thigh as donor site between January 2017 and August 2018. First, primary evaluation of fully epithelized donor site scar three weeks after surgery was conducted. Control group (n=15) applied silicone gel (Kelo-cote, USA) solely two times a day. study group (n=15) applied Eucalyptus oil, combined with silicone gel. After 3 months of follow up, donor scar was evaluated using Vancouver scar scale and VAS scores of subjective patient reports regarding pain and itching sensation. Results: It was confirmed that both groups showed stable scar improvement comparing scar quality for 3 months. After 3 months, scar quality in study group showed superiority in pigmentation, pliability and pruritus compared to control group. Conclusion: Application of Eucalyptus Oil combined with conventional silicone gel is favorable to scar management and may give additional benefit of alleviating pruritis symptoms.

Electric Field Analysis of Power Cable Joint Point using Boundary Element Method (경계요소법을 이용한 전력케이블 접속부의 전계해석)

  • There are many unfavorable conditions that lead to shortening life of cable by causing dielectric breakdown and aging such as field concentrations occurring in intermediate materials linking each cables, penetration of various impurities, and undermining of cable insulation layers. This paper simulated investigated partial discharge properties of XLPE which is widely used for ultra high voltage cable insulation materials and EPDM which is being used as insulation layer of cable joint materials kit, using Boundary Element Method. The result of computer simulation showed that inner-Void defect caused silicone oil to weaken the E-field effect. and we also found that E-field distribution in EPDM remained relatively lower than that in XLPE.
