The applicability of models based on fractal morphology to characterize $(Ba\;Sr)TiO_{3}$ thin film surfaces was investigated. The fractal morphology of coated barium strontium titan oxide thin film surfaces was described using fractal dimension from scanning electro microscopy image. The $(Ba\;Sr)TiO_{3}$ coating were deposited on silicon wafers using $(Ba\;Sr)TiO_{3}$ solution and spin coater. BST solution was composited by mol ratio, and then spin-coated from 3 times to 5 times coating on $Pt/SiO_{2}/Si$ substrate. Qualitative thin film analysis was performed with scanning electro microscopy (SEM), and surfaces parameters such as average grain diameter, roughness exponent and fractal dimension were determined.
In this work, Ga-doped ZnO (GZO) thin films for toxic gas sensor application were deposited on low temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) substrates, by RF magnetron sputtering method. LTCC is one of promising materials for integration with heater, low cost production and high manufacturing yields than silicon substrate. The LTCC substrates with thickness of $400\;{\mu}m$ were fabricated by laminating 12 greentapes which consist of alumina and glass particle in an organic binder. The GZO thin films deposited on the substrates and were analyzed by X-ray diffraction method (XRD) and field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM). The films are well crystallized in the hexagonal (wurzite) structure with increasing thickness. The fabricated sensors showed good sensitivity and fast response time to common types of toxic gases (NOx, COx).
MEMS structures Generally have been fabricated using surface-machining, but the interface failure between silicon substrate and evaporated thin film frequently takes place due to difference of linear coefficient of thermal expansion. Therefore this paper studied the effect of the residual stress caused by variable external loads. This study did not analyzed accurate quantity of the residual stress but trend for the effect of residual stress. Several specimens were fabricated using other material(Al, Au and Cu) and thermal load was applied. The residual stress was measured by nano-indentation using AFM. The results showed the existence of the residual stress due to thermal load. The indentation area of the thermal loaded thin film reduced about 3.5% comparing with the virgin thin film caused by residual stress. The finite element analysis results are similar to indentation test.

This study was carried out on DLC thin film deposition technology used in infrared optical system production as a method of reducing the shape changes of the molding core and the consequent loss of life. Experiments on the deposition on silicon wafer and tungsten carbide used as a substrate for molding core were conducted at each processing condition using a filtered arc system, and it was found that the surface and mechanical properties were of the greatest quality when the substrate bias voltage of -150 V was used. In addition, it was confirmed that the PV and Ra characteristics were improved by the deposition of the DLC thin film.
The electron transport coefficients in not only pure atoms and molecules but also in the binary gas mixtures are necessary, especially on understanding quantitatively plasma phenomena and ionized gases. Electron transport coefficients (electron drift velocity, density-normalized longitudinal diffusion coefficient, and density-normalized effective ionization coefficient) in binary mixtures of TEOS gas with buffer gases such as Kr, Xe, He, and Ne gases, therefore, was analyzed and calculated by a two-term approximation of the Boltzmann equation in the E/N range (ratio of the electric field E to the neutral number density N) of 0.1 - 1000 Td (1 Td = 10−17 V.cm2). These binary gas mixtures can be considered to use as the silicon sources in many industrial applications depending on mixture ratio and particular application of gas, especially on plasma assisted thin-film deposition.
Hydrogen passivation of Si nanocrystals identifies luminescence mechanism indirectly. Si nanocrystallites thin films on p-type (100) Si substrate have been fabricated by pulsed laser deposition technique using a Nd:YAG laser After deposition, Si nanocrystallites thin films have been annealed at 600$^{\circ}C$ and 760$^{\circ}C$ in nitrogen ambient, respectively. Hydrogen passivation was subsequently performed at 500$^{\circ}C$ in forming gas (95 % N$_2$ + 5 % H$_2$) for an 1 hour. We report the photoluminescnece(PL) property of Si thin films by the hydrogen passivation. The luminescence mechanism of Si nanocrystallites has also been investigated.
Si thin films on p-type (100) Si substrate have been fabricated by pulsed laser deposition technique using a Nd:YAG laser. The pressure of the environmental gas during deposition was 1 Torr. After deposition, Si thin film has been annealed again at 400-840$^{\circ}C$ in nitrogen ambient. Strong blue photoluminescence (PL) have been observed at room temperature. We report the PL properties of Si thin films depending on the variation of the annealing temperature.
Ultra-thin gate oxide in MOS devices are subjected to high-field stress during device operation, which degrades the oxide and exentually causes dielectric breakdown. In this paper, we investigate the electrical properties of ultra-thin nitrided oxide (NO) and reoxidized nitrided oxide(ONO) films that are considered to be promising candidates for replacing conventional silicon dioxide film in ULSI level integration. We study vriations of I-V characteristics due to F-N tunneling, and time-dependent dielectric breakdown (TDDB) of thin layer NO and ONO depending on nitridation and reoxidation condition, and compare with thermal $SiO_{2}$. From the measurement results, we find that these NO and ONO thin films are strongly depending on its condition and that optimized reoxided nitrided oxides (ONO) films show superior dielectric characteristics, and breakdown-to-change ( $Q_{bd}$ ) performance over the NO films, while maintaining a similar electric field dependence compared to NO layer.
Ion beam assisted crystallization behavior of sol-gel derived $PbTiO_3$ thin films, deposited on bare silicon(100) substrates by spin-casting method, has been investigated. Ar ion bombardment was directly conducted on the spincoated film surface with or without heating the film from room temperature to $300^{\circ}C$. Ion dose was changed from $5{\times}10^{15}$ to $7.5{\times}10^{16}$$Ar^-/cm^2$. Formation of (110) oriented perovskite phase was obseerved with ion dose above $5{\times}10^{16}\; Ar^+/cm^2$. Crystallization of $PbTiO_3$ thin film could be enhanced with increasing the Air ion dose, or heating the substrate during ion bombardment. Crystallization of the $PbTiO_3$ films by ion bombardment was related to the local heating effect during ion bombardment.
Polycrystalline silicon (poly-Si) thin film transistor (TFT) technology is emerging as a key technology for active matrix liquid crystal displays (AMLCD), allowing the integration of both active matrix and driving circuit on the same substrate (normally glass). As high temperature process is not used for glass substrate because of the low softening points below 450$^{\circ}C$. However, high temperature process is required for getting high crystallization volume fraction (i.e. crystallinity). A poly-Si thin film transistor has been fabricated to investigate the effect of high temperature process on the molybdenum (Mo) substrate. Improve of the crystallinity over 75% has been noticed. The properties of structural and electrical at high temperature poly-Si thin film transistor on Mo substrate have been also analyzed using a sputtering method
