Advanced Amorphous Silicon TFT Backplane for AMOLED Display

  • We have investigated the degradation mechanism of hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a- Si:H) thin film transistors (TFTs) The threshold voltage of driving a-Si:H TFT is shifted severely by electrical bias due to a charge trapping and defect state creation. And the short channel TFTs exhibit less threshold voltage degradation than long channel TFTs. We propose the pixel circuits employing negative bias annealing scheme in order to suppression of threshold voltage shift of a-Si:H TFT.

  • Microwave Plasma assisted CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) and DC Plasma CVD were used to prepare thin and thick diamond film, respectively. Diamond coated silicon nitride and fiee standing diamond thick film were eroded by silicon carbide particles. The velocity of the solid particle was about 220m/sec. Phase transformation and the other crack formation were investigated by using Raman spectroscopy and microscopy.

Characteristics of Low-Temperature Polysilicon Thin Film Transistors

  • Polysilicon this film transistors (poly-Si TFTs) with different channel dimensions were fabricated on low-temperature crystalized amorphous silicon films and on as-deposited polysilicon films. The electrical characteristics of these TFTs were characterized and compared. The performance of the TFTs fabricated on the solid-phase crystalized amophous silicon films ws showon to be superior to that of the TFTs fabricated on the as-deposited polysilicon films. It was found that the performance of poly-Si TFTs depends strongly on the material characteristics of the polysilicon films used as the active layers, but only weakly on the channel dimensions.

Low-temperature polycrystalline silicon level shifter using capacitive coupling for low-power operation

  • A new level shifter using low-temperature polycrystalline silicon (poly-Si) thin-film transistors (TFTs) for low-power applications is proposed. The proposed level shifter uses a capacitive-coupling effect and can reduce the power consumption owing to its no-short-circuit current. Its power saving over the conventional level shifter is 72% for a 3.3 V input and a 10 V output.

  • Nanocrystalline silicon (nc-Si) based TFTs were developed using a conventional PECVD production system. Devices exhibit very interesting characteristics, in particular when using a bi-layer structure which reduces leakage current and improves subthreshold area. Good stability and low leakage current make these devices suitable for the fabrication of low-cost and high performance AMOLED displays.

  • The stability of hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) films under the light soaking are very important since the applications of a-Si:H films are solar cells, color sensors, photosensors, and thin film transistors(TFTs). We found the changes of the electric conductivity and the conductivity activation energy (Ea) of a-Si:H films by argon radical annealing. The deposition rate of a-Si:H films depends on the argon radical annealing time. The optical band gap and the hydrogen contents in the a-Si:H films are changes along the argon radical annealing time. We will discuss the microscopic processes of argon radical annealing in a-si:H films.

  • An integrated silicon pressure sensor with frequency output has been fabricated, measured, and tested. The standard bipolar process is applied and thin diaphragm was formed using EDP anisotropic etchant. Output frequency was 769 Hz-3.1 kHz at the pressure range of 0-10 psi. It operates at the temperature range of 0-50$^{\circ}C$. The frequency sensitivity was 233 Hz/psi and temperature sensitivity was 0.3 Hz/$^{\circ}C$. The power dissipation was 50mW.

  • The stress induced leakage currents will affect data retention in synapse transistors and the stress current, transient current is used to estimate to fundamental limitations on oxide thicknesses. The synapse transistor made by thin silicon oxides has represented the neural states and the manipulation which gaves unipolar weights. The weight value of synapse transistor was caused by the bias conditions. Excitatory state and inhibitory state according to weighted values affected the channel current. The stress induced leakage currents affected excitatory state and inhibitory state.

  • This research on building Integrated Photovoltaic System replacing windows and doors with amorphous silicon thin film PV windows and doors installing same exact mount on Mock-up. The windows and doors should be installed in different angle and bearing so that we can analyse the amount of electricity from them. The objective of the research is to evaluate and investigate the relationship between factors(intensity of solar radiation, PV window surface temperature, incidence angle, and sky conditions) that affects performance of PV window and performance. The range and method of this research is to establish monitoring system and analysis the data from the monitoring system to evaluate the performance of PV windows that have thin film of solar battery. We should evaluate the insolation according to the position of PV window, output, and surface temperature according to months and seasons so that we can figure out the relationship between these. And we should investigate the relationship between performance and efficiency according to incidence angle and sky condition so that we can figure out the correlation between factors and performance.
