  • This paper proposes a novel two-stage detection scheme based on combining multiple correlator outputs to enhance the detection performance in ultra-wideband (UWB) signal acquisition. Due to the rich multipath of UWB channels, the signal energy spreads over multiple correlator outputs, which makes each correlator output have only a portion of the signal energy, and thus, degrades the detection performance of the conventional scheme where a single correlator output is used as the decision variable for detection. In the proposed two-stage detection scheme, the decision variable is formed by combining multiple correlator outputs, making it possible to collect the signal energy spread by the multipath. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can provide a better detection performance over the conventional scheme in various UWB channel environments.

  • We analyze a wideband spectrum in a cognitive radio (CR) network by employing the optimal adaptive multiband sensing-time joint detection framework. This framework detects a wideband M-ary quadrature amplitude modulation (M-QAM) primary signal over multiple nonoverlapping narrowband Gaussian channels, using the energy detection technique so as to maximize the throughput in CR networks while limiting interference with the primary network. The signal detection problem is formulated as an optimization problem to maximize the aggregate achievable secondary throughput capacity by jointly optimizing the sensing duration and individual detection thresholds under the overall interference imposed on the primary network. It is shown that the detection problems can be solved as convex optimization problems if certain practical constraints are applied. Simulation results show that the framework under consideration achieves much better performance for M-QAM than for binary phase-shift keying or any real modulation scheme.

  • Theoretical analysis is presented for expending of the usable frequency range of optoelectronic mixing detection in the radio over fiber network system. We define the normalized gain to evaluate the performance of the optical mixing detection, and conform the possibilities of detection for the high frequency signals beyond the cutoff frequency of a photodiode. Optical mixing detection mechanism is analyzed by solving the continuity equation for the carriers of a photodiode. The normalized gain is independent on the signal frequency and the frequency difference between the optical signal and the local signal. Also, the amplitude of the local signal and the bias voltage are needed to be optimized at the same time in order to maximize the normalized gain.

  • In this paper, new signal model for bio-signal detection, i.e heart beat and respiration, using CW radar. Most research on this similar topic are based on the conventional signal model which is not correct in envisaging reflected signal from the human body. The system developed based on this conventional model can not predict exact performance of the system. So in this paper modified signal model for bio-radar is proposed and then simulation for detecting heartbeat and respiration signal in AWGN, multipath environment. The detection performance difference between two signal models are discussed.the modified

  • In the integrated systems, that is integrated digital TV(DTV) internet and home automation, like home server, is needed integration of digital TV video signal and computer graphic signal. The graphic signal is operating at the high speed and has time-divide-stream. So the re-request of data is not easy at the time of error detection. therefore EDAC algorithm is efficient. In this paper, we show a scheme, that is integration of graphic and dtv format signal for DTV monitor display. This paper also presents the efficiency error detection auto correction(EDAC) for conversion of graphics signal to DTV video signal. A presented EDAC algorithms use the modified hamming code for enhancing video quality and reliability. A EDAC algorithm of this paper can detect single error, double error, triple error and more error for preventing from incorrect correction. And it is not necessary an additional memory. In this paper The comparison between digital TV video signal and graphic signal, a EDAC algorithm and a design of conversion graphic signal to DTV signal with EDAC function in DTV system is described.

  • A drone performs a mission through remote control or automatic control, which uses wireless communications technology. Recently the increasing use of drones, the drone signal RF detection is necessary. In this paper, we propose an efficient dron RF detection method through simulations considering Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and dedicated protocol dron communication method in ISM(Industry Science Medical) band.. After configuring an environment where a common terminal and a drone signal are mixed, a general terminal and a drone signal are distinguished from each other by using a RF characteristic according to a dron movement. The proposed drone RF detection method is the WRMD(Windowed RSSI Moving Detection) operation and the Doppler frequency identification method. The simulation environments consist to mixed for two signals and four signals. We analysis the performance to proposed drone RF detection technique thorough detection rate.

  • This paper presents cell ID (cell identity) detection schemes using PSS/SSS (primary synchronization signal/secondary synchronization signal) for 5G NR (new radio) system and evaluates the detection performance. In this paper, we consider two cell ID detection schemes, i.e. two-stage detection and joint detection schemes. The two-stage detection scheme consists of two stages which estimate a channel gain between a transmitter and receiver and detect the PSS and SSS sequences. The joint detection scheme jointly detects the PSS and SSS sequences. In addition, this paper presents coherent and non-coherent combining schemes. The coherent scheme calculates the correlation value for the total length of the given PSS and SSS sequences, and the non-coherent combining scheme calculates the correlation within each group by dividing the total length of the sequence into several groups and then combines them non-coherently. For the detection schemes considered in this paper, the detection error rates of PSS, SSS and overall cell ID are evaluated and compared through computer simulations. The simulation results show that the joint detection scheme outperforms the two-stage detection scheme for both coherent and non-coherent combining schemes, but the two-stage detection scheme can greatly reduce the computational complexity compared to the joint detection scheme. In addition, the non-coherent combining detection scheme shows better performance under the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN), fixed, and mobile environments.

  • This study was to analyze the difference in pilot error by using the Signal Detection Theory. The task was to detect the targeted aircraft(signal) which is different shape from many other aircraft(noise). From the two experiments, we differentiated the task difficulty followed by change in noise stimuli. Experiment 1 was to search the signal stimuli(fighter plane) while the noise stimuli(cargo plane) were increasing. The results from the Experiment 1 showed the tendency to decrease the hit rate by increasing the number of noise stimuli. However, the false alarm rate was not increased. The sensitivity(d') showed quite high. In Experiment 2, a disturbance stimulus(helicopter) was added to noise stimuli. The result was generally similar to those of Experiment 1. However, the hit rate was lower than that of Experiment 1.

  • Hub bearings not only sustain the body of a cat, but permit wheels to rotate freely. Excessive radial or axial load and many other reasons can cause defects to be created and grown in each component. Therefore, nitration and noise from unwanted defects in outer-race, inner-race or ball elements of a Hub bearing are what we want to detect as early as possible. How early we can detect the faults has to do with how the detection algorithm finds the fault information from measured signal. Fortunately, the bearing signal has Periodic impulse train. This information allows us to find the faults regardless how much noise contaminates the signal. This paper shows the basic signal processing idea and experimental results that demonstrate how good the method is.
