  • The neutron dosimetrical parameters, i. e., the fission neutron spectrum-averaged cross-sections and the fluence-to-dose conversion factors have been calculated for some threshold detectors with the aid of a computer. The threshold detectors under investigation were the $^{115}In(n,\;n')^{115m}In,\;^{32}S(n,\;p)^{32}P$ and $^{27}Al(n,\;{\alpha})^{24}Na$ reactions. It is revealed that the average cross-sections($\bar{\sigma}$) for the $^{32}S(n,\;p)^{32}P$ reaction are independent of the spectral functions, namely, the Watt-Cranberg and Maxwellian forms. In the case of the $^{27}Al(n,\;{\alpha})^{24}Na$ reaction a variation of the $\bar{\sigma}$ values appears to be highly dependent on the fissioning types. It seems that both the average cross-section for the $^{115}In(n,\;n')^{11m}In$ reaction and the conversion factor are insensitive to the spectral deformation of fission neutrons. These phenomena make it applicable to use indium as a possible integral fast neutron dosimeter in nuclear criticality accidents provided that the virgin fission neutrons are completely free from the scattered neutrons.

  • There are elements for the game user get into the emotion of flow (the mental state of operation in which the person is fully immersed in what he or she is doing by a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and success in the process of the activity). In game contents, for example, a considerable sophisticated application of 'sound' is one of the important elements must be considered for a qualified game development process. If a proper audio condition is satisfied, a game user is intrinsically solving problems by auditorial sense and the participant get into immersing into the game spontaneously. There are elements in game contents storytelling for the user to be in flow condition, this study will be analyzing a game user's flowing, especially with repetitive usage of sound. To be accurate, 'flow analysis' of Csikszentmihalyi. M, and 'flow factors' of Donna L. Hoffman & Thomas P. Novak, in addition, would be proper references in the research. comparing to a precedent study that analyzed a game and flow focused on visual elements. Ponpoko(Sigma Enterprise Inc., 1981) and Bio Hazard 4(Capcom, 2007) will be given as the main texts. To achieve the desired proposition in the study, user's reaction is monitored by listening repeatable and ordinary sound. Questionnaires are including Frequency Analysis, MANOVA(multivariate analysis of variance).

  • Electrical conductivities of NiO-$Y_2O_3$ systems containing 0.8, 1.6, and 3.2 mol% NiO have been measured in the temperature range of 400 to 1100$^{\circ}$C at $PO_2$'s of 1 ${\times}10^{-5}$ to 2 ${\times}10^{-1}$ atm. Plots of $log\sigma$ vs 1/T at constant $PO_2$'s are found to be linear with an inflection at temperature around 650$^{\circ}$C. The slopes are steeper in the high temperature region above 650$^{\circ}$C than in the low temperature region below 650$^{\circ}$C. The average activation energies are 41.8kcal/mol in the high temperature region and 12.5kcal/mol in the low temperature region. $PO_2$'s dependence value, 1/n, is 1/5.1~1/5.4 in the high temperature region and 1/5.9~1/6.2 in the low temperature region. The NiO-$Y_2O_3$ systems are found to be an electronic p-type semiconductor. The predominant defects in the systems are believed to be triply ionized yttrium vacancy in the high temperature region and doubly ionized oxygen interstitial in the low temperature region. Ionic contribution to the total conductivity is found from ${\sigma}^{\propto}PO_2$ in the temperatures below 650$^{\circ}$C.

  • A study on friction welding of carbon steel bar (SM45C) to chrome molybedenum steel bar(SCM4) is examined experimentally through tensile test, hardness test, microstructure test and fatigue test. so, this paper deals with optimizing the welding concitions and analyzing various mechanical properties about friction welds of SM45C to SCM4 steel bars. The results obtained are summarized as follows; 1) For friction welded joints of SM45C to SCM4 steel bars, the total upset(U)increases linearly with an increase of heating time ($t_{1}$) till 6s. 2) The determined optimum welding conditions are heating time ($t_{1}$)2s, upsetting time($t_{2}$), 3s, heating pressure($p_{1}$), 4kgf/$mm^{2}$(39.2MPa), upsetting pressure($p_{2}$, 8kgf/mm$^{2}$(78.4MPa) and rotating speed(N), 2, 000rpm when the total upset(U) is 3.4mm, resulting in a computed relationship between the joint tensile strength .sigma.$_{t}$ (kgf/mm$^{2}$and the total upset U(mm); .sigma.$_{t}$ =$0.21U^{3}$ - $3.38U^{2}$ +17.03U + 66.00 3) As the elongation is increased more and more, the fracture position becomes away from weld interface and the fractures are similar to those of SM45C. Fracture is taken place on SM45C side. 4) The weld interface of two dissimilar materials is mixed strongly, and the heat affected zone is about 2.0mm at SM45C while about 2.7 mm at SCM4 side. Therefore, the welded zone and heat affected zone are very narrow, comparing with those of the joints welded by the other welding methods. 5) The fatigue strengths at N=10$^{6}$ cycles of SM45C, SCM4 and friction welded joints are 23kgf/$mm^{2}$, 33kgf/$mm^{2}$(220.5 MPa), and 22.5kgf/$mm^{2}$(220.5MPa) respectively, and fracture at friction welded joint takes place at the side of SM45C. 6) The hardness of the friction weld interface is 3 times higher than that of base metal. 7) Fatigue strength of friction welded joint is higher than that of base metal. 8) Notch sensitivity factor of friction welded joint is lower than that of base metal.

  • Long chain alkyl diols (LCDs) have been reported in sediments from various marine environments. Rampen et al. (2012) introduced the paleo-sea surface temperature (SST) proxy, Long chain Diol Index (LDI) based on the relative abundance of $C_{30}$ 1,15-diol, $C_{28}$ 1,13-diol, and $C_{30}$ 1,13-diol. In general, CP-Sil5CB and DB-5ms columns have been used for the quantitative and qualitative analysis of LCDs with a GC-MS. In this study, we examined the effect of three different columns (CP-Sil5CB, HP-5ms and DB-5) on the quantitative analysis of LCDs using marine sediments from the East Sea of Korea and the western Arctic Ocean. In general, our study showed that the results of CP-Sil5CB differed significantly from those of HP-5ms and DB-5. However, the differences of the LDI-derived SSTs among three columns were $0.1-0.2^{\circ}C$ for the East Sea and $0.2-0.7^{\circ}C$ for the western Arctic Ocean, which were well within the calibration error range (${\pm}1{\sigma}$). Accordingly, our study showed that the use of different columns resulted in significant differences of LCDs concentrations, but its effect on the LDI was relatively insignificant. Therefore, it appears that the different columns can be used for the paleo-SST reconstruction in the East Sea and the western Arctic Ocean using the LDI proxy.

  • We have carried out a precise Doppler survey of G-type giants aiming to unveil the properties of planetary systems in intermediate-mass stars ($1.5-5M_{\bigodot}$). G-type giants are promising targets for Doppler planet searches around massive stars, because they are slow-rotators and have many sharp absorption lines in their spectra and their surface activities are relatively low in contrast to their younger counterparts on the main-sequence (B-A stars). We are now monitoring radial velocities of about 300 late G-type (including early K-type) giants using HIgh Dispersion Echelle Spectrograph (HIDES) at Okayama Astrophysical Observatory. We have achieved a Doppler precision of about 6-7 m/s over a time span of 3 years using an iodine absorption cell. We found that most of the targets have radial velocity scatters of ${\sigma}{\~} 10-20 m\;s^{-1}$ over 1-3 years, with the most stable reaching levels of 6-8 m $s^{-1}$. Up to now, we have succeeded in discovering the first extrasolar planet around a G-type giant star HD 104985, and also found several candidates showing significant radial velocity variations, suggesting the existence of stellar and substellar companions. Observations have continued to establish their variability.

  • This paper shows mechanical Properties and behaviors of macrostructures for specimens welded by F.S.W according to welding conditions and tool dimensions with $6.35mm_t$ aluminum 7075-T651 alloy plate. It apparently results in defect-free weld zone in case transition speed was changed to 15mm/min 61mm/min and 124mm/min under conditions of tool rotation speed such as 800rpm. 1250rpm and 1600rpm respectively with tool's Pin diameter 40mm and 60mm. The optimum mechanical property, ultimate stress,${\sigma}_Y=470Mpa$ is obtained at the condition of 124mm/min of travel speed with 800rpm of tool rotation speed using full screw type pin. shoulder dia. $20{\phi}mm$ pin dia. $6{\phi}mm$ and pin length 6mm. The full-screw type and the half-screw type pin shows the similar behaviors of weldability. It is found that the size of nugget is depended on tool transition speed and tool dimension by macrostructures of the cross section of weld zone.

  • In order to further reduce the sulfur content in liquid hydrocarbon fuels, a desulfurization process by adsorption for removing dimethyl sulfide (DMS) and propylmercaptan (PM) was investigated. Bentonite adsorbents modified by $CuCl_2$ for the desulfurization of model oil was investigated. The results indicated that the modified bentonite adsorbents were effective for adsorption of DMS and PM. The bentonite adsorbents were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and thermal analysis (TGA). The acidity was measured by FT-IR spectroscopy. Several factors that influence the desulfurization capability, including loading and calcination temperature, were studied. The maximum sulfur adsorption capacity was obtained at a Cu(II) loading of 15 wt %, and the optimum calcination temperature was $150^{\circ}C$. Spectral shifts of the ${\nu}$(C-S) and ${\nu}$(Cu-S) vibrations of the complex compound obtained by the reaction of $CuCl_2$ and DMS were measured with the Raman spectrum. On the basis of complex adsorption reaction and hybrid orbital theory, the adsorption on modified bentonite occurred via multilayer intermolecular forces and S-M (${\sigma}$) bonds.

  • We present a spectroscopic study of the globular clusters (GCs) in the giant elliptical galaxy (gE) M86 in the Virgo galaxy cluster. Using the spectra obtained from the Multi-Object Spectroscopy (MOS) mode of Faint Object Camera and Spectrograph (FOCAS) on the Subaru Telescope, we measured the radial velocities of 25 GCs, the metallicities of 16 GCs, and the ages of 8 GCs in M86. The mean velocity and the vocity dispersion of the GCs are < ${\upsilon}_p$ > = -354 ${\pm}$ 80 km/s and ${\sigma}_p$ = 292 ${\pm}$ 32km/s, respectively. The M86 GC system shows some rotation with a large uncertainty and the velocity dispersion of the blue GC system is 60 km/s larger than that of the red GC system. The mean metallicity and age of M86 GCs are <[Fe/H]> = -1.13 ${\pm}$ 0.47 and = 9.7 ${\pm}$ 4.0 Gyr, respectively. We found one GC younger than 5 Gyr. We discuss the spectroscopic results of the M86 GC system in comparison with the GC systems in other gEs.
