Six Sigma Implementation Methods for a Telecommunication Service Industry: A Case Study of KT (통신서비스산업에서의 식스시그마 추진 전략 : KT의 사례를 중심으로)

  • Six sigma activities in an information and communication technology company in Korea are introduced. Korea Telecom(KT) was a public company for a long time and became a private enterprise not long ago. Although this company adopted many innovation programs, they were not effective because of the company's characteristics : long-time government-owned and information service industry. This paper describes the reason why KT introduced six sigma, some implementation strategy, and key factors to successfully deploy it. This paper is expected to be helpful to public or service industry in which it is very difficult to implement innovation activities.

  • We introduce a concept of countably strong inclusions ${\triangleleft}$ and that of ${\triangleleft}-{\sigma}$-ideals and prove that the subframe $S({\triangleleft})$ of the frame ${\sigma}IdL$ of ${\sigma}$-ideals is a Lindel$\ddot{o}$fication of a frame L. We also deal with conditions for which the converse holds. We show that any countably approximating regular $D({\aleph}_1)$ frame has the smallest countably strong inclusion and any frame which has the smallest $D({\aleph}_1)$ Lindel$\ddot{o}$fication is countably approximating regular $D({\aleph}_1)$.

  • We investigate the zeros of Epstein zeta functions associated with positive definite quadratic forms with rational coefficients in the vertical strip ${\sigma}_1$ < ${\Re}s$ < ${\sigma}_2$, where 1/2 < ${\sigma}_1$ < ${\sigma}_2$ < 1. When the class number h of the quadratic form is bigger than 1, Voronin gave a lower bound and Lee gave an asymptotic formula for the number of zeros. Recently Gonek and Lee improved their results by providing a new upper bound for the error term when h > 3. In this paper, we consider the cases h = 2, 3 and provide an upper bound for the error term, smaller than the one for the case h > 3.

  • For a ring R with an automorphism ${\sigma}$, an n-additive mapping ${\Delta}:R{\times}R{\times}{\cdots}{\times}R{\rightarrow}R$ is called a skew n-derivation with respect to ${\sigma}$ if it is always a ${\sigma}$-derivation of R for each argument. Namely, if n - 1 of the arguments are fixed, then ${\Delta}$ is a ${\sigma}$-derivation on the remaining argument. In this short note, from Bre$\check{s}$ar Theorems, we prove that a skew n-derivation ($n{\geq}3$) on a semiprime ring R must map into the center of R.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this paper is integrated tolerance design process by advantages of engineering design and 6 sigma statistical tolerances design. Methods: Integrated tolerance design process can determine the goals by using engineer's experience and clarify tolerance by 6 Sigma statistical methods. Integrated design process can be applied by using non-linear simulations. Results: We applied integrated design process to the optical disc drive spindle motor and get good result. Conclusion: If this method is applied test method in the early stages of development, then Design can be reduced development time and cost.

  • Arc welding process has indicated that it suffers from many flaws. It's because requirement of products is diverse and factors which affects the quality is also various. Therefore, in order to stabilize the welding process, it is important to choose a proper welding machine for the each process, and to evaluate the welding process capability of each machine. In this study, rational and simple index to evaluate the welding machine was set the coefficient of resistance variation through the arc stability examination such as spatter generation weight and bead configuration uniformity etc. And the method to evaluate the process capability index was developed by application of 6$\sigma$.

  • The paper derives formulas for the mean-squared error distortion and resulting signal-to-noise (SNR) ratio of a fixed-rate scalar quantizer designed optimally in the minimum mean-squared error sense for a Gaussian density with the standard deviation ${\sigma}_q$ when it is mismatched to a Laplacian density with the standard deviation ${\sigma}_q$. The SNR formulas, based on the key parameter and Bennett's integral, are found accurate for a wide range of $p\({\equiv}\frac{\sigma_p}{\sigma_q}\){\geqq}0.25$. Also an upper bound to the SNR is derived, which becomes tighter with increasing rate R and indicates that the SNR behaves asymptotically as $\frac{20\sqrt{3{\ln}2}}{{\rho}{\ln}10}\;{\sqrt{R}}$ dB.

  • Global financial crisis at 2008 caused a great change of the company itself and environment as hit product, new creative business model. But it is not easy program. Ambidextrous organization excel at exploiting existing products to enable incremental innovation and at exploring new opportunities fo foster more radical innovation. In this paper are presented the improved procedures of new business model development using 6 sigma methodology. To inspired about new business ideas we use exploration method.   • Since 1980's, many enterprises have constructed Strategy Information System and tried BPR, ISP. Also, they implemented ERP and practiced the Process Innovation and Six Sigma for Management Innovation in todays. Although most companies had previous good plans, but those are not satisfied. Because of failed to change management and continued next activity. Many Project for Process innovation are ended as disposal project in my case, if they want next project, they need a new plan which needs additional fund and resource. This paper studied Process Innovation and Six Sigma in many things and proposed new model for continued project on the master plan. Also it proposed next study subject about ERP Optimization and Harmonization after implemented ERP which is considered as next step of PI.
