  • An analysis method for calculating motion accuarcy of double sides hydrostatic table is proposed in this paper. In this method, profiles of each rails are assumed as periodic function, therefore it is represented as the sum of spacial frequencies. Bearing clearance at any position rail is depended on the variation of linear, angular motion error of table and the form errors of both sides of a rail. Finite element method is applied to calculate pressure distributions in bearing clearance. In order to simplify the analyzing process, double sides table model is converted into equivalent single side table model. Results calculated by the proposed modeling method agree well with the results directly caculated by double sides modeling method, and also agree well with experimental results. From the theoretical and experimental analysis, it is verified that the proposed analysis method is very effective to analyze the motion accuracy of double sides hydrostatic table.

  • Electrical resistance strain gauges, brittle-coatings, Moir'e fringe analysis, photoelasticity methods, etc, have been employed in the study of stress analysis and three-dimensional photoelasticity method used in this experiment. The author fabricated a total of 24 samples of maxillary and mandibular edentulous ridges with normal and sharp shapes using epoxy resin, one of the photoelastic materials. In addition, complete denture made from artificial resin teeth in other twoo sizes, large and medium size, were affixed to the specimens and attached to an articulator. The following results were attained by cutting 9 slice specimens into 6mm thick portions, in accordance with the three dimensional photoelastic stress freezing method, to analyze stress distribution status under specific static loading in the central, lateral and protrusive occlusions of the shape of edentulous ridge. 1. In the case of central occlusion, when complete resin artificial teeth in large and medium sizes were used on normal and sharp alveolar ridges, high stress distribution was broadly shown in the labio-buccal sides, and low and concentrated in the lingual sides, in all cases. Generally, the highest stresses were shown at the top of the alveolus, or at 2mm below the top of the alveolus, particularly in the specimen 2, 3, and stresses were more or less the same in the symmetrical right and left sides. 2. In the case of lateral occlusion, when the same load was applied, high stresses were shown broadly at the working sides in both the labio-buccal and lingual sides, and low and concentrated at the balanced sides. The highest stresses were shown in the top of the alveolus on the working sides in specimen 2 portion, and the lowest stresses at the balanced sides in specimen 6, slightly higher stresses were shown at retromolar parts in the balanced sides. 3. In the case of protrusive occlusion, high stresses were broadly shown at the labio-buccal sides, and slightly higher stresses at the top 2, 4, and 6mm parts of the alveolus with concentration. The highest stresses were shown in specimen No. 5 and the lowes stresses in specimen 1, 9 and stresses were more of less the same at the symmetrical right and left sides.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the posterior slope of articular eminence on internal derangement of temporomandibular joint. The author had taken transcranial oblique lateral projections of both TMJs in 30 normal subjects and 40 internal derangement patients who had 54 affected sides and 26 unaffected sides, and then analyzed the films. The results were as follows : In normal subjects, there was no significant difference between in the males and females, and between in the right and left sides. The posterior slope of articular eminence of affected sides in patients was stiffer than that of unaffected sides in patients and also stiffer than that of normal subjects. Therefore, the author concluded that stiffer posterior slope of articular eminence was, the more susceptibility to internal derangement would be.

  • An analysjs model for calculation the motion accuarcy of double sides hydrostatic table is proposed in thn paper. For the analysis of motion accuracy, profiles of each rails are assumed as periodic function, and represented using Fourier coefficients. Variahon of bearing clearance is represented as the vanation of linear, angular displacement of table and profiles of rails. Motion accuracy is calculated in the basis of finite element analysis on the pressure dutributmn of table. In order to improve calculating time in the analysis of motion accuracy, The proposed modeling method converts double sides table to single side table equivalently Results by the proposed method 1s compared with directly caculated results mdyhcally, and also compared wlth experimental results. From the theoretical and experimental analysis, it is confirmed that the proposed modeling mothod is very effective to analyze the motion accuracy of dauble sides hydrostatic table.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics between EMG timing of muscle contraction and motor impairment in chronic hemiplegic stroke patients. Delay time and co-contraction of 4 patients who had stroke less than 3 years were measured during isometric wrist flexion and extension along the 3 seconds beep signal. Onset and offset of muscle contraction were significantly delayed on the more affected sides than control sides. Offset was significantly delayed than the onset on the affected sides in wrist flexion. Also, recruitment of antagonist was larger than agonist on the affected sides. Co-contraction ratio on the affected side was significantly smaller than control sides in wrist flexion. In affected sides, Fugl-Meyer motor assessment(FMA) shows the correlation of onset delay in wrist flexion and extension. However, co-contraction ratio correlated with FMA in wrist flexion. EMG assessment is likely to be useful outcome measure and provide insights into mechanism for motor recovery in stroke patients.

  • The purpose of this study is to grasp the spatial characteristic of the unit plan for a Super-High-Rise-Residence. This study is focused on the open air contact sides for a tower type Super-High-Rise-Residence. A tower type Super-High-Rise-Residence which has open air contacts from 1 to 3.5 sides differed in spatial characteristics of the unit plan for other apartment units. The current study analyzed 188 unit plans for the size of 40 pyong or larger in Seoul and the metropolitan areas which have been built since 1990. Open air contact side was classified as under 2 sides, 2 sides, and over 2 sides. The unit plan which belong to each open air contact side was Investigated according to the location of public area, the relationship between livingroom and master bedroom, and a method of entry to the master bedroom. The results of this study are as follow: According to increase open air contact sides is changed the location of public area in unit plan from an typical arrangement to various arrangement. Also the relationship between livingroom and master bedroom becomes loose and in a method of entry to the master bedroom increase an indirect approach through other room.

  • Tracheid length and width, microfibril angle, compressive, bending, and impact strengths between the south and north sides of stem pith in Larix kaemferi were measured. Sample trees were 30 years old which had planted in the central region of Korea. In general, there were no difference in the tracheid length and width, microfibril angle, and strengths between the two sides. And no difference in tangential shrinkage and strengths between the two sides was thought to be due to identical microfibril angle between the two sides.

  • The effect of splinting on aqbutment tooth distal movement was performed in vitro study. An acrylic resin mandibular model with missing 2nd premolars, molars and a removable partial denture framework were constructed. The roots of the canines, 1st premolars and edentulous ridges were coated with silicone rubber. A modified Ney Surveyor was used for vertical load appkication, and abutment tooth distal movement were measured with a dial gauge with four conditions of splinting methods were tested by applying unilateral vertical loadings. The results are follows; 1. The magnitude of abutment tooth distal movement on the non-load side was less 40$\sim$69% than that occurred on the load side. 2. On the load side, reducing effect of splinting on abutment tooth movement in the condition of load side double abutment(30%), non-load side double abutment(10%), double abutments of both sides(40%) was compared with single abutments of both sides. 3. On the non-load side, reducing effect of splinting on abutment tooth movement in the condition of load side double abutment(5%), non-load side double abutment(22%), double abutments of both sides(59%) was compared with single abutments of both sides. 4. The magnitude of abutment tooth distal movement in the condition of double abutments of both sides was less 40$\sim$59% than that in the condition of single abutments of both sides.
