모서리가 잘린(Corner-cut) 구조를 가진 정삼각형 마이크로스트립 안테나와 편파 변환 재구성 안테나로의 응용 (A Corner-Truncated Equilateral-Triangular Microstrip Antenna and Its Applications for Reconfigurable Antennas with Polarization Diversity)

  • 본 논문에서는 다양한 방사 편파를 얻기 위하여 모서리가 잘린 정삼각형 마이크로스트립 안테나를 제안하였다. 제안한 안테나는 삼각형 패치의 빗변과 평행하게 놓여진 마이크로스트립 라인에 의해 급전된다. 동일한 크기를 갖는 삼각형 모서리의 제거 여부에 따라 정삼각형 마이크로스트립 안테나는 선형 편파, 왼손 원형 편파, 오른손 원형 편파 특성을 나타내었다. 이러한 특성을 바탕으로 정삼각형 마이크로스트립 안테나를 편파 변환이 가능한 재구성 안테나로 응용하였다. 정삼각형 패치와 작은 삼각형 기생 패치 사이에 PIN 다이오드를 적용하였다. 다이오드에 인가되는 바이어스 전압에 따라 안테나는 선형 편파 또는 오른손 원형 편파 특성을 나타내었다. 측정된 방사 패턴 결과를 통해 선형 편파의 경우 낮은 크로스폴을, 원형 편파의 경우 좋은 축비 특성을 나타냄을 알 수 있었다.

The Aspects, Reasons and Outcomes of an Unmanned Air Vehicle Crash Caused By Engine Failure

  • The Unmanned Air Vehicle (UAV) systems are indispensable tools of air surveillance and reconnaissance nowadays. Via this systems, hazardous end risky intelligence gathering activities are handled easily. Although they are named as "Unmanned" the UAV systems are commanded by pilots/operators. So, because of weather conditions, enemy attacks etc. as well as pilot error it is possible to face with sudden Round per Minute (RPM) drops and subsequently engine cut/stop during a mission flight at high altitudes. In this case, there are some very urgent decisions to make and rapid "emergency procedure" steps to take in a very short time before Line of Sight (LOS) is lost. The time before crash and the distance to landing air base need to be calculated, the Return Home route need to be checked and the landing/crash side need to be determined. Therefore it is a vital necessity that UAV pilots have some extra qualifications like being determined, well instructed and trained, experienced apart from operating ability. Within this scope, for an education process of a UAV pilot experience sharing and lessons learned are as important as simulators even more. By means of lessons learned it is possible to find out the reasons, mistakes and prevent the likely UAV accidents. In this study it is told about a real UAV crash, experienced of the pilot, the dos and don'ts and the difficulties. Thus it is aimed to help the people who can experience the same or similar situations in future.

Metal Insulator Gate Geometric HEMT: Novel Attributes and Design Consideration for High Speed Analog Applications

  • Improvement in breakdown voltage ($BV_{ds}$) and speed of the device are the key issues among the researchers for enhancing the performance of HEMT. Increased speed of the device aspires for shortened gate length ($L_g$), but due to lithographic limitation, shortening $L_g$ below sub-micrometer requires the inclusion of various metal-insulator geometries like T-gate onto the conventional architecture. It has been observed that the speed of the device can be enhanced by minimizing the effect of upper gate electrode on device characteristics, whereas increase in the $BV_{ds}$ of the device can be achieved by considering the finite effect of the upper gate electrode. Further, improvement in $BV_{ds}$ can be obtained by applying field plates, especially at the drain side. The important parameters affecting $BV_{ds}$ and cut-off frequency ($f_T$) of the device are the length, thickness, position and shape of metal-insulator geometry. In this context, intensive simulation work with analytical analysis has been carried out to study the effect of variation in length, thickness and position of the insulator under the gate for various metal-insulator gate geometries like T-gate, $\Gamma$-gate, Step-gate etc., to anticipate superior device performance in conventional HEMT structure.

  • 실린더형 강재의 양 끝에 기어를 갖는 기어 축은 자동차 동력전달 장치의 부품으로 널리 사용되고 있다. 기어 축을 가공하는 순서는 먼저 실린더 모양 강재의 한 쪽을 공작기계의 척에 물리고 다른 쪽을 기어로 가공한 다음, 기어로 가공된 쪽을 기어 모양 척에 끼워 물리고 가공되지 않은 쪽을 가공하는 순서로 진행된다. 이 공정이 자동화되기 위해서는 한 쪽에 기어를 가공한 상태에서 다른 쪽을 가공하려 할 때 가공된 쪽과 가공되지 않은 쪽 판별과 기어 모양 척에 정확히 기어로 가공된 강재를 끼우는 작업의 자동화가 선행되어야 한다. 이에 본 연구에서는 기어 축에서 기어의 위치와 기어의 각도를 검지하기 위하여 자속의 검출을 활용하는 자기 검출 센서를 제안하였고 제안된 센서의 설계를 위해 자기장 해석을 유한요소방법(FEM)으로 수행하였다.

충돌 손상된 선체구조의 최종 종강도에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Ultimate Longitudinal Strength of Ship Structures Damaged due to Side Collision)

  • Ships in bad weather conditions are likely to be subjected to accidental loads, such as high bending moment, collision, and grounding. Once she has damage to her hull, her ultimate strength will be reduced. This paper discusses an investigation of the effect of collision damage on the ultimate strength of a ship structure by performing a series of collapse tests. For the experiment, five box-girder models with stiffeners were prepared with a cross section of $720mm\;{\times}\;720mm$ and a length of 900mm. Of the five, one had no damage and four had an ellipse shaped damage area that represented the shape of the bulbous bow of a colliding ship. The amount of damage size was different between models. Among the damaged models, the damage in three of them was made by cutting the plate and stiffener, and in one by pressing to represent collision damage. Experiments were carried out under a pure bending load and the applied load and displacements were recorded. The ultimate strength was reduced as the damage size increased, as expected. The one with the largest amount of damage had damage to 30% of the depth, and its ultimate strength was reduced by 19% compared to the undamaged one. The pressed one has higher ultimate strength than those that were cut. This might be due to the fact that the plate around the pressed damage area contributes to the ultimate strength, whereas the cut one has no plate to contribute.

스트레인광학효과를 이용한 2×2Ti:LiNbO3 삽입/분기 집적광학 멀티플렉서 (2×2Ti:LiNbO3 Integrated Optical Add/Drop Multiplexers utilizing Strain-Optic Effect)

  • 1550nm 파장대역에서 편광에 관계없이 동작하는 $Ti:LiNbO_3\;2{\times}2$ 삽입/분기 광 멀티플렉서를 구현하였다. 소자는 두 개의 입 출력 광도파로, 두 개의 편광모드분리기, 두 개의 편광모드 변환기 그리고 전기광학효과로 파장을 가변시킬 수 있는 전극으로 구성되었다. TE, TM 편광에 대해서 단일모드 특성을 갖는 채널 광도파로는 x-cut $LiNbO_3$에 Ti 확산 방법으로 제작하였으며, 채널 광도파로 위에 배열된 $SiO_2$ 패드의 전단 스트레인을 이용하여 위상정합 편광모드변환기를 구현하였다. 한편 전기광학효과를 이용하여 파장을 가변시키기 위해서 전압을 인가하여 광도파로의 복 굴절률을 변화시켰다. 0.094nm/V 파장가변률과 최대 17nm 파장을 가변시켰으며, 8.2dB 부 모드레벨과 3.72nm FWHM을 측정하였다.

Case Studies of Mass Concentration Variation in the Central-Southern Korean Peninsula Caused by Synoptic Scale Transport of Dust Storms

  • In East Asia, the long-range transport of dust storms originating from Mongolia and northern China affects airborne dust loadings over downwind areas in the southern Korean Peninsula. Since 1997, dust loading cases caused by dust storms have been observed using the thresholds of total suspended particles (TSP, ${\geq}250{\mu}g\;m^{-3}\;hr^{-1}$) and particulate matter less than $10{\mu}g$ ($PM_{10}$, ${\geq}190{\mu}g\;m^{-3}\;hr^{-1}$) in the central-southern Korean Peninsula. There were two dust loading cases that exceeded these thresholds in 2016 and three in 2017, which reflects the downward trend of the last twenty-one years in the central-southern Korean Peninsula. Furthermore, five other dust loading cases with mass concentrations lower than the thresholds were observed from 2016 to 2017. In the moderate dust loading cases exceeding the thresholds, a descending motion of cut-off lows below $45^{\circ}N$ and a southward trough at 500 hPa gpm isopleths intensified at the western ridge, and largely extended the surface high-pressure system over southeast China. Airborne dust loadings following pronounced north-westerlies in the forward side of the high-pressure system were transported to the surface of the central-southern Korean Peninsula. However, in slight dust loading cases lower than the thresholds, the restricted descending motion of cut-off lows over $45^{\circ}N$ and the southwestward trough at 500 hPa gpm isopleths intensified the zonal flow over the Korean Peninsula. Surface high- and low-pressure systems moved eastward from the source compared to moderate dust loading cases. Due to the zonal movement of dust storms traversing eastern China, slight dust loading cases were observed with relatively higher ratios of $PM_{2.5}/TSP$ and carbon monoxide (CO) in the central-southern Korean Peninsula.

보험진료체계 개편이 의료기관 종별 환자분포에 미친 영향 분석 -3차 의료기관, 종합병원, 병원, 의원을 중심으로- (Introducing the Insurance Health Care Delivery System and Its Impact on Patients Distribution of Medical Service Organizations)

  • The Korean government achieved the universal coverage of health insurance in July 1989, and concomitantly introduced a new measure of regulated health care delivery system in using medical care. There are three reasons why the government took the new health care delivery system. Firstly, there was ample room for improving the allocative efficiency in the use of medical facilities. And the second one was to constrain the dramatic increase of medical demand under health insurance. Thirdly, and the most important reason was to alleviate the patient crowdedness in big general hospitals, particularly tertiary hospitals. There are essentially two different ways to control the use of health care : one is to cut the demand for health care, and the other to regulate behaviors of providers through the use of incentives/disincentives, demand-side approach or supply-side approach. The objective of this study is to examine whether or not medical care utilization behaviors under health insurance scheme have been changed among medical facilities such as clinic, hospital, general hospital and tertiary hospital in comparison with those before and after the introduction, particularly whether the patient crowdedness in tertiary hospitals has been alleviated or not. In order to conduct this study, the insurance claim data during the period of January 1989 and July 1992 were analyzed by focusing on diagnosis of both inpatients and outpatients, and especially the fifteen most frequent diseases in ambulatory care and the seven most frequent diseases in hospitalizatio. In addition, the same analyses were made on the changes in medical care utilization by specialty department. This was because the five departments, such as family medicine, ENT, eye, dermatology and rehabilitation, were exempted from applying the regulated health care delivery system in tertiary hospitals. The study revealed that a remarkable alleviation effect in the crowdness was noted for tertiary hospitals. This effect was most conspicuous for the most frequent mild diseases of both inpatient and outpatient care. For example, the fifteen most frequent OPD care at tertiary facilities have decreased as much as by 40%, of which 34% belonged to the cut in initial visits. Meanwhile, the proportion of those who used general hospitals and private practitioner's clinics have increased due to the shift of patients. The cases from the five special departments were also decreased, but not so much as other departments. A problem was noted that, as time passed by, the decreasing tendencies of crowdness at tertiary hospitals due to the regulated system became slightly smaller. Therefore, through complementary remedies are needed for the future implementation.

일측구순열변형에서 이갑개연골이식술을 이용한 상구순 함몰의 교정 (Correction of Upper Lip Depression Using Conchal Cartilage Graft in Unilateral Cleft Lip Deformity)

  • Purpose: To correct the upper lip depression after the correction of unilateral cleft lip, autologous grafts such as bone, dermal, fascial grafts and fat injections or alloplastic implants are used. Transplanted bones, dermis and fascia have a tendency to be absorbed and have donor morbidity. Fat injections are absorbed inconsistently and alloplastic implants have problems such as foreign body reactions, protrusions and infections. Authors corrected the upper lip depression using conchal cartilage graft in unilateral cleft lip deformity and the results was analysed with photos. Methods: 26-unilateral cleft lip and 2-microform cleft lip cases, totally 28 cases were performed. Their mean age was 21.89 years. The male and female cases were 12 and 16, respectively. Under anesthesia (general: 18 cases and local: 10 cases), cavum conchae (n=8), cymba conchae (n=16) and whole conchae (n=4) were harvested. Transversely cut the margin of the obtained cartilage, we cut out the most bent portion and put a partial-thickness incision on concave surface in cases of excessive convexity. Then, we performed the onlay graft of the conchal cartilage via scar revision site in unilateral cleft lip and via the reconstruction site of the cupid bow in microform cleft lip. The augmentation of the upper lip was evaluated with photos. Adapting the baseline connecting between the both cheilions as a horizontal standard line, we measured the highest point among the tangents between the upper lip and nose (point a), the lowest point (point c), the middle point between a and c (point b) and the vertical line from the alare (point d) to the horizontal standard line. To assess the postoperative symmetry, we compared cleft side upper lip contour index (%) A,B,C,D=(a,b,c,d)-ch ${\times}$ 100/(ch-ch) and non-cleft side upper lip contour index (%) A',B',C',D'= (a',b',c',d')-ch ${\times}$ 100 / (ch-ch).h) Results: After the surgery, no complication was found except in one case which double layers graft performed in the cleft lip deformity, the lateral portion was protruded. The upper lip contour index, the difference of A and A' were-0.83%, and thus the mild depression was persisted. Difference of B and B', C and C', D and D' were 0.83%, 1.07%, 0.90%. There were statistically significant difference, and thus the depression of upper lip were improved generally. Conclusion: Authors performed the onlay graft of the conchal cartilage in unilateral cleft lip deformity and found that the depression of the upper lip was well corrected except the uppermost part when photogrammetrically analyzed.

국립중앙박물관 소장 산률(山律) 선우영(鮮于英) 필(筆) <금강산 묘길상도> (The First North Korean Painting in the Collection of the National Museum of Korea: Myogilsang on Diamond Mountain by Seon-u Yeong)

  • 산률(山律) 선우영(鮮于英)(1946~2009) 필(筆) <금강산 묘길상도>(2000)는 국립중앙박물관이 소장하게 된 최초의 북한 화가 작품이다. 지금까지 알려진 <묘길상도> 가운데 가장 큰 종축(縱軸) 형식으로 크기가 세로 130.2cm, 가로 56.2cm에 이르는 지본수묵진채(紙本水墨眞彩) 그림이다. 선우영에 관하여는 최근 우리나라에도 수차례 개최된 전시회에서 비교적 잘 알려졌다. 그는 1989년 공훈예술가, 1992년 인민예술가 칭호를 받는 등 이른바 '진채세화(眞彩細畫)'의 대가로서 북한을 대표하는 화가가 되었고, 60여 점의 작품이 북한 국보로 지정되었다. 이 그림의 주제인 <묘길상> 마애불은 금강산 내금강 지역에 있는 만폭동 골짜기의 높이 40m 벼랑 아래에 15m 정도 크기로 새겨진 고려시대의 마애불이다. 이 마애불의 명칭은 마사연(摩詞衍) 동쪽에 있었던 묘길상암(妙吉祥庵)에서 유래한다. 마애불의 오른쪽 옆 바위에는 직암(直庵) 윤사국(尹師國)(1728~1709)이 쓴 '묘길상(妙吉祥)'이라는 큼직한 음각의 글씨가 새겨져 있다. 필자는 불상의 수인(手印)을 오른손과 왼손이 모두 엄지와 약지(藥指)가 만나는 하품하생인(下品下生印)과 비슷하지만 왼손이 아래를 향하고 있지 않고 오른손과 거의 직각을 이루며 복부에 놓여있으므로 설법인(說法印)으로 보았다. 즉 이 불상은 설법인을 결하고 있는 석가상(釋迦像)이라고 결론지었다. 선우영의 <금강산 묘길상도>는 조선시대 같은 주제의 그림들과 비교하면 불상의 자연 환경, 즉 벼랑 아래 감실에 새겨진 불상이라는 점과 불상이 인간의 모습이 아닌 암각상임을 수묵진채로 표현한 유일한 그림이다. 구도와 색감이 자아내는 초현실주의적 분위기 또한 이 <금강산 묘길상도>의 특징이라 하겠다. 이 그림을 포함한 선우영의 대부분 작품이 진채로 바위 질감을 사실적으로 표현한 그림이지만 그의 만년작 <파도>(2008)와 같이 전통적의 수묵화에 가까운 그림도 그렸던 폭넓은 작품 세계를 보여주는 화가이다.
