  • An algorithm detecting abrupt and gradual shot boundaries is proposed in this Paper. The conventional methods detect abrupt shot boundaries well, but do not show good performance on gradual shot boundaries. The proposed method Is based on the fact that the difference of the characteristic between frames is large when the shot conversion occurs. And the Proposed method detects abrupt and gradual shot boundaries with one algorithm. Moreover, it detects not only position where gradual shot conversion occurs, but also the exact duration where gradual shot conversion occurs.

  • Under the changing circumstances of broadcasting, this study aims at the corelation of television drama's rating and television image production techniques, analyzing TV image production techniques and TV rating of drama, the highest rating genre. For this research, 6 dramas were selected as samples except the dramas about history and violence on the basis of the TNS media korea's top 100 of the year 2007. This study analyzed camerawork, shot size, shot duration and scene duration with the contents of replay and manuscript viewing of broadcasting companys' homepages. As the result of the analysis of corelation, TV rating is inverse proportionate to multiple camerawork and shot average duration with a very close relationship, showing no relationship with other variables. The result of this study shows that multiple cameraworks and long durated shots should be avoided for higher TV rating.

  • Information of video can be percieved as the form of visual rhythm through temporal ordering systems. The shot, the base unit of video analysis, affects audience psychologicaliy with various temporal combination. Here, psychological stress and density of the story can be adjusted by the point of view shot of character. Acordingly the correlation analysis of shot duration and point of view shot can be useful for visual rhythm research. Identity one of the thriller genre works was selected for analyzing. This works produced by Kyle Cooper, a famous person in the opening sequence field. This works produced by Kyle Cooper, a famous person in the opening sequence field.

  • This study analyzed the shot pattern through the tempo of segmented shot duration and studied the relationship with the unique emotion of the story. The structure of the story was classified into 3 chapters, 17 sequences, 83 scenes, 287 beats, and 1636 shots. Shot density is a method of visualizing tension in visual storytelling, and since it is a result obtained by mathematically calculating the density of divided shots, it can be helpful in designing tension delivered to the audience. Nine shot density patterns were extracted. The ascending(+) type was classified as A, B, C, D, 4, the descending(-) type, E, F, G, H, 4, and the maintenance(/) type, I, 1 type. Based on the spatiality of the 17 stages of Campbell's heroic narrative and McGee's story structure, the narrative level of the tree structure was proposed, and the symbolic meaning of the shot rhythm in the practical aspect of the story function was proposed to present a systematic methodology in the direction of production.

  • We demonstrate a frequency-resolved optical grating (FROG) device for measuring the intensity and phase versus time of several-tens-of-picoseconds laser pulses, using a thick nonlinear optical crystal. The huge pulse-front tilt generated by a holographic grating increases the temporal range of the device, which can make a single-shot measurement of laser pulses less than 100 ps in duration. To verify the measurement technique, we generate double pulses using a Michelson interferometer. The measured duration of a single pulse is about 300 fs and the measured maximum delay of two pulses is 60 ps, which implies that the proposed FROG device can measure laser pulses with maximum pulse width of about 120 ps.

  • With the increase of weight and influence of TV drama, many researchers began to publish papers on TV drama. However, those papers were mainly focused on social meaning and viewing motives and attitudes of TV audience. However, only a few papers researched about television image production techniques, such as 'Relationship between TV ratings and image production techniques', 'Transition process of TV drama's image production techniques', and 'Comparison of TV and film image production techniques'. According to the recent research on the relationship between TV ratings and image production techniques, TV rating is inverse proportionate to multiple camerawork and shot average duration with a very close relationship. The purpose of this thesis is to analyse the relationship between TV genre and image production technique with the data of top 100 of TNS Media Korea from the year 2004 to 2008. This paper found out that history drama uses more closeup, longshot, tracking and less waist shot than other genres, with shorter shot duration and longer scene duration.

  • Purpose: This study aims at omitting the initial testing of the ASRP by determining the initial test year. Methods: This study is to determine of the initial test year for one-shot system using validity assessment of drugs. Results: Procedures for determining the initial test duration of the one shot system and examples of omitting the tests are presented. Conclusion: Using this method, the time and labor required for testing can be saved by omitting the initial testing of ASRP.

  • With the question, "What would be the difference between TV drama image production techniques under the changing circumstances of domestic broadcasting faced with multi-media, multi-channel age after 1980' s press unification and establishment of two times commercial TV stations?" This study analysed image production techniques of three periods of TV drama development, 'TV drama maturity period(1981-1990)', 'TV drama transition period(1991-2000)', 'TV drama take-off period(2001-)'. For the image analysis within the genre of home drama, 3 dramas for each period were selected and analysed cameraworks, shot size, shot duration with the broadcasting station's DVD, homepage and manuscript. The result of this analysis revealed that the change of shot size was slight but the change of cameraworks was great, the usage of zoom and tilt diminished but the usage of dolly and track increased. and the average shot duration drastically diminished during the take-off period. These results show us that broadcasting production equipments developed during the periods, and broadcasting stations poured all-out efforts for the higher viewing rates and international competitiveness.

  • A one-shot device is defined as a product, system, weapon, or equipment that can be used only once. After use, the device is destroyed or must undergo extensive rebuild. Determining the reliability of a one-shot device poses a unique challenge to the manufacturers and users due to the destructive nature and costs of the testing. This paper presents a reliability growth prediction for a one-shot system. It is assumed that 1) test duration is discrete(i.e. trials or rounds); 2) trials are statistically independent; 3) the number of failures for a given system configuration is distributed according to a binomial distribution; and 4) the cumulative expected number of failures through any sequence of configurations is given by AMSAA model. When the system development is represented by three configurations and the number of trials and failures during configurations are given, the AMSAA model parameters and reliability at configuration 3 are estimated by using a reliability growth analysis software. Further, if the reliability growth predictions do not meet the target reliability, the sample size of an additional test is determined for achieving the target reliability.

  • In this paper, we propose a globally successful animation rhythm type. Based on the study of spatial variables in Campbell's heroic narrative and the study on the duration of shots in the video, the rhythm of the shot according to the spatial narrative of was analyzed. Through this, three conclusions were drawn. First, the basis for the visualization of narrative intensity is possible through the shot density of narrative, Second, a shot rhythm type was presented, which was presented as an ascending type, a descending type, a mountain type, a depressed type, and a complex type, and the characteristics of the narrative were analyzed. Third, the strength of the shot rhythm shown in the hero narrative spatial map model was divided into top, middle, and bottom, and the measurement criteria of narrative strength were presented. This study is meaningful in that it visualized and typified artistic emotions as objective data in the flow of animation content focused on philosophical and qualitative methods.
