Analysis for Series Resistance of Amorphous Silicon Thin Film Transistor (비정질 실리코 박막 트랜지스터의 직렬 저항에 관한 분석)

  • We present a new model for the series resistance of inverted-staggered amorphous silicon (a-Si) thin film transistors (TFT's) by employing the current spreading under the source and the drain contacts as well as the space charge limited current model. The calculated results based on our model have been in good agreements with the measured data over a wide range of applied voltage, gate-to-source and gate-to-drain overlap length, channel length, and operating temperature. Our model shows that the contribution of the series resistances to the current-voltage (I-V) characteristics of the a-Si TFT in the linear regime is more significant at low drain and high gate voltages, for short channel and small overlap length, and at low operating temperature, which have been verified successfully by the experimental measurements.

  • The 2-packaged polyurethane coatings were synthesized, blending pheylmodified polyesters(of which synthetic methods were reported in the previous paper), Desmodur L-75(polyisocyanate wide1y used for coatings), wetting-dispersing agent, white pigment. etc. A variety of coating properties were tested for the coating treatment polyurethane coationgs. Compared with conventional 2-packaged polyure-thane coating, abrasion resistance and lightness index difference of the ones synthesized in the present work were somewhat decreased, but the coating properties such as hardness, gloss specular, cross hatch adhesion. etc. were improved. Especially, resistance against chemical reagents and salt were strikingly improved. In addition. the coationgs had short drying time and long pot-life. This shows that the coationgs are appropriate for rapid drying coatings.

Study on the Diameter-Controlled Synthesis of Silver Nanofibers and Their Application to Transparent Conductive Electrodes (은 나노섬유의 직경제어 합성 및 투명전극 응용 연구)

  • One-dimensional (1D) silver nanostructures, which possess the highest conductivity among all room-temperature materials, moderate flexibility and high transmittance, are one of the most promising candidate materials to replace conventional indium tin oxide transparent electrodes. However, the short length and large diameter of 1D silver nanostructures cause a substantial decrease in the optical transparency or an increase in the sheet resistance. In this work, ultra-long silver nanofiber networks were synthesized with a low-cost and scalable electrospinning process, and the diameter of the nanofibers were finetuned to achieve a higher aspect ratio. The decrease in the diameter of the nanofibers resulted in a higher optical transparency at a lower sheet resistance: 87 % at $300{\Omega}/sq$, respectively. It is expected that an electrospun silver nanofiber based transparent electrode can be used as a key component in various optoelectronic applications.

  • An accurate digital distance relaying algorithm which is immune to mutual coupling effect and reactance effect of the fault resistance and the load current for the line faults in 765kV untransposed transmission lines is proposed. The algorithm can estimate adaptively the impedance to a fault point independent of the fault resistance. To compensate the magnitude and phase of the apparent impedance, this algorithm uses the angle of an impedance deviation vector. The impedance correction algorithm for phase-to-ground fault and phase-to-phase short fault use a voltage equation at fault point to compensate the fault current at fault point. A series of tests using EMTP output data in a 765kV untransposed transmission lines have proved the accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

  • This paper presents the performance evaluation of an HTS transformer. Numerical calculation by finite element method was used to evaluate the performance. BSCCO-2223 HTS tapes and double pancake winding were adopted in this design. Four double pancake windings were used in total. Among them two windings were connected in series for high voltage winding and two windings are connected in parallel for low voltage winding. Propertied of various type of the winding arrangement were examined. Characteristics of the transformer during the transient which was caused by sudden short were simulated. The current limiting effect, temperature rise and resistance growth of the superconducting winding were shown.

Fabrication and Properties of Nano-structured Ceramics

  • Nano-structured ceramics, which consist of structural elements with nanometer-size crystallites, are expected to show various unusual properties. We developed the novel nano-structured ceramics which consists of $Si_3N_4$ and TiN and a self-lubricant material. The ceramics was fabricated by powder metallurgy process using mechano-chemical grinding process and short-time sintering process. Each grain size of matrix and the self-lubricant particle was under about 50 nm and a few namometer. It showed high wear resistance and low friction coefficient by controlling of microstructure.

  • Electrodeposited Zn-Ni alloy coatings are of particular interest for improving the corrosion resistance of steel in a number of enviornments. Of particular interest is the relationship between composition, structure and corrosion rate. This paper firstly reviews the literature regarding composition-structure relationships of Zn-Ni electrodeposits and compares them with the equilibrium phase diagram. Secondly, research was carried out on a wide range of coatings which were produced in the laboratory and their structure and corrosion rates determined. It was found that unambiguous identification of phases from XRD data can be difficult. Maximum corrosion resistance of deposits is obtained at 12-13% Ni, with a $\gamma$ phase structure and predomination of (600) and (411) reflections. Compatibility is important with regard to chromate conversion coatings.

  • In the present study, AZ91Mg/$\textrm{Al}_2\textrm{O}_3$ short fiber+SiC particulates hybrid metal matrix composites(MMCs) were fabricated by squeeze casting method. Different particulate sizes of 45, 29 and $9\mu\textrm{m}$ were hybridized with 5% volume fraction to investigate the effect of SiC particulates size on microstructure, mechanical and thermal properties such as hardness, flexural strength, wear resistance and thermal expansion. Results show that the microstructure of the hybrid composites were quite satisfactory, namely revealing relatively uniform distribution of reinforcements. Some aggregation of SiC particulates caused by particle pushing was observed especially in the hybrid composites containing in fine particulates($9\mu\textrm{m}$). The hardness and flexural strength were improved by decreasing particulates size, whereas wear resistance improved by increasing particulates size because of large particulates restricting matrix wear from contacted stress. Regardless of particulates size, thermal expansion of composites was the same. This may be because the content of particulates was in all cases 5 volume fraction.1

  • In this paper, method using electric braking from stop area to high-speed area was presented in order to improve air-brake. And electric braking method can be improved environmental problems, efficiency, economy, etc. Method for electrical complete braking are two ways that method of inserting series resistance between the motor and the inverter, and method of inverter output voltage increase. In this paper, use series resistance insert method because economical and easy to apply. In addition, Series resistor is used short circuit method for reduce the power loss. In improved efficiency and the laboratory environment for secure braking, resistance insert method and inverter output voltage increase method showed same characteristics in all areas.

Unbalanced Characteristics of the Superconducting Fault Current Limiters with a Single Line-to-ground Fault (1선 지락사고에 대한 초전도한류기의 불평형 특성)

  • We investigated the unbalanced characteristics of the superconducting fault current limiters (SFCLs) based on YBCO thin films with a single line-to-ground fault. When a single line-to-ground fault occurred, the short circuit current of a fault phase increased about 6 times of transport currents after the fault onset but was effectively limited to the designed current level within 2 ms by the resistance development of the SFCL. The fault currents of the sound phases almost did not change because of their direct grounding system. The unbalanced rates of a fault phase were distributed from 6.4 to 1.4. It was found that the unbalanced rates of currents were noticeably improved within one cycle after the fault onset. We calculated the zero phase currents for a single line-to-ground fault using the balanced component analysis. The positive sequence resistance was reduced remarkably right after the fault onset but eventually approached the balanced positive resistance component prior to the system fault. This means that the system reaches almost the three-phase balanced state in about 60 ms after the fault onset at the three-phase system.
