자율 운항 선박의 인공지능: 잠재적 사이버 위협과 보안 (Artificial Intelligence for Autonomous Ship: Potential Cyber Threats and Security)

  • 인공 지능(AI) 기술은 해양 산업에서 스마트 선박을 자율 운항 선박으로 발전시키는 주요 기술이다. 자율 운항 선박은 사람의 의사 판단 없이 수집된 정보로 상황을 인식하며 스스로 판단하여 운항한다. 기존의 선박 시스템은 육상에서의 제어 시스템과 마찬가지로 사이버 공격에 대한 보안성을 고려하여 설계되지 않았다. 이로 인해 선박 내·외부에서 수집되는 수많은 데이터에 대한 침해와 선박에 적용될 인공지능 기술에 대한 잠재적 사이버 위협이 존재한다. 자율 운항 선박의 안전성을 위해서는 선박 시스템의 사이버 보안뿐만 아니라, 인공지능 기술에 대한 사이버 보안에도 초점을 맞춰야 한다. 본 논문에서는 기존 선박 시스템과 자율 운항 선박에 적용될 인공지능 기술에 발생할 수 있는 잠재적인 사이버 위협을 분석하고, 자율 운항 선박 보안 위험과 보안이 필요한 범주를 도출했다. 도출한 결과를 바탕으로 향후 자율 운항 선박 사이버 보안 연구 방향을 제시하고 사이버 보안 향상에 기여한다.

  • 최근 위조 외국 선박이 국내항을 여러번 입출항한 경우가 있었다. 선박에는 국제해사기구(IMO)가 선박을 식별하기 위해 부여한 선박 고유 일련번호가 있으며 2004년 이후 건조된 모든 선박에 IMO 표시를 의무적으로 해야 한다. 대표적인 물류 플랫폼인 공항과 항만의 경우 보안체계가 필수적이지만 항만에서의 보안체계를 세우는 것은 어렵고 사각지대가 많아 보안체계의 미흡으로 인한 보안문제가 발생할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 딥러닝 객체인식 및 OpenCV를 이용하여 항만 보안시스템을 설계한다. 보안시스템 프로세스는 선박 입항시 객체 인식 후, 선박의 IMO번호를 추출하여 입항 기록이 있는 선박의 경우 특징점 매칭을 통해 동일한 선박인지 판단하고, 최초 입항 선박의 경우 입출항 DB에 선박 이미지 및 IMO번호를 저장한다. 본 논문의 시스템을 통해 항만보안시스템을 활용하여 입항 관리 인력 단축으로 인한 효율성 증가와 미허가 입항으로 발생하는 부대 비용 절감을 통한 항만 물류 업무 효율성 및 체계 개선과 보안시스템 도입을 통해 항만 보안을 강화할 수 있다.

ISO 19847 선박 데이터 서버 이중화를 통한 사이버 보안 취약성 대응 방안 실험 (Experiment on countermeasures against cyber security vulnerabilities using redundancy of ISO 19847 Shipboard Data Server)

  • As the IMO introduced MASS (Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships), ISO(International Organization for Standardization) announced ISO 19847 of a maritime data sharing standard for collecting and remotely managing data of ship systems. Previous literature evaluated the risk using HAZOP for ISO 19847 and proved that risk assessment is useful through experiments. However, redundancy of ISO 19847 ship data server which is one of the risk reduction method suggested in previous literature, was designed but couldn't tested due to the limitations of the conditions. So, in this study, to prove the usefulness of the ship data server redundancy of ISO 19847 which was not tested in previous literature. It based on the design of previous literature, and the network of ship data servers was modeled using the SES/DEVS format and simulated using the DEVS# open source library.

  • The early construction of the internet based ship basic planning supporting system based on the concurrent engineering and the internet technology is essential as a means for the improvement of technology and design productivity our ship building industry is facing currently. Further more, technological base construction for the construction for the construction of the cooperation system on the level of ship building industry is necessary for the technological base security to maintain and develop ship building industry continuosly in the 21st century of the information industry environment and for the technological improvement of the middle and small shipyard falling behind relatively and finally for the breaking through our ship building industry environment in which inter-enterprise competition is deeping. In this study, we designed the frame-system of the ship design supporting system and presented the development scenario based on core element technology.

Design and Implementation of PDA-based Image Surveillance System for Harbor Security using IP Camera

  • This paper describes a new progressive embedded Internet Protocol(IP) camera available for real-time image transmission. It was applied for ship safety and security on seashore area. The functions of developed embedded system was more effective and excellent than conventional systems. Nowadays, each nation has established harbor security systems to jump up their ports to international port. Recently Incheon port has tried to change man security into center security system used by image security system. The security system of Incheon port has some advantages like effectivity of security system and reduction of manpower and cost, installed by image security system with CCTV cameras at the entrance gate and around the fence. Thus in this paper, we have designed and implemented a Personal Digital Assistants(PDA) based Image Surveillance System for Harbor Security using IP Camera under ubiquitous environment. This system has big advantages which are more effective in an emergency and low cost and small manpower than conventional systems.

  • The autopilot system targets decreasing labor, working environment, service safety security and elevation of service efficiency. Ultimate purpose is minimizing number of crew for guarantee economical efficiency of shipping service. Recently, being achieving research about Course Keeping Control, Track Keeping Control, Roll-Rudder Stabilization, Dynamic ship Positioning and Automatic Mooring Control etc. which compensate nonlinear characteristic using optimizing control technique. And application research is progressing using real ship on actual field. Relation of Rudder angle which adjusted by Steering Machine and ship-heading angle are non-linear. And, Load Condition of ship acts as non-linear element that influence to Parameter of ship. Also, because the speed of a current and direction of waves, velocity and quantity of wind etc. that id disturbance act in non-linear form, become factor who make service of shipping painfully. Therefore, service system of shipping requires robust control algorithm that can overcome nonlinearity. In this paper, Using GA algorithm,design autopilot system of ship that could overcome the non-linear factor of ship and disturbance and examined result through simulation.

Cyber Threat and Vulnerability Analysis-based Risk Assessment for Smart Ship

  • The digitization of ship environments has increased the risk of cyberattacks on ships. The smartization and automation of ships are also likely to result in cyber threats. The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has discussed the establishment of regulations at the autonomous level and has revised existing agreements by dividing autonomous ships into four stages, where stages 1 and 2 are for sailors who are boarding ships while stages 3 and 4 are for those not boarding ships. In this study, the level of a smart ship was classified into LEVELs (LVs) 1 to 3 based on the autonomous levels specified by the IMO. Furthermore, a risk assessment for smart ships at various LVs in different risk scenarios was conducted The cyber threats and vulnerabilities of smart ships were analyzed by dividing them into administrative, physical, and technical security; and mitigation measures for each security area were derived. A total of 22 cyber threats were identified for the cyber asset (target system). We inferred that the higher the level of a smart ship, the greater the hyper connectivity and the remote access to operational technology systems; consequently, the greater the attack surface. Therefore, it is necessary to apply mitigation measures using technical security controls in environments with high-level smart ships.

  • In the article, an analysis of the factors was carried out, which injected into the efficiency of the function of navigation systems in the minds of unimportance. Carrying out analyzes allowing for the visibility of relevant direct adjustments to the effectiveness of the function Inertial navigation systems in the minds of non-value. The designation of the navigation system was assigned to a complex of navigation systems on ships processing of the vector of navigation parameters, so that they can be victorious in the control systems of the ship's collapse, and the safety of floating is safe.

  • Scientific and technological progress is also fundamental to the evolving merchant shipping industry, both in terms of the size and speed of modern ships and in the level of their technical capabilities. While the freight performance of ships is growing, the number of crew on board is steadily decreasing, as more work processes are being automated through the implementation of information technologies, including ship management systems. Although there have been repeated appeals from international maritime organizations to focus on building effective maritime security defenses against cyber attacks, the problems have remained unresolved. Owners of shipping companies do not disclose information about cyberattack attempts or incidents against them due to fear of commercial losses or consequences, such as loss of image, customer and insurance claims, and investigations by independent international organizations and government agencies. Issues of cybersecurity of control systems in the world today have gained importance, due to the fact that existing threats concern not only the security of technical means and devices, but also issues of environmental safety and safety of life at sea. The article examines the implementation of cyber risk management in the shipping industry, providing recommendations for the safe ship operation and its systems in order to improve vulnerability to external threats related to cyberattacks, and to ensure the safety and security of such a technical object as a seagoing ship.
