Since the users have direct access to search and browse freely, the open access system has been employed to all the usual modern libraries. However, library space shortage problem created by the continuously increasing printed materials caused the degradation of usability and quality of the library space. Open Access system is superior in user convenience but is inferior in space efficiency. Keeping the open access system is considered as one of the reasons of the space shortage problem. Even though the closed access system does not provide free access or easy browsing for the uses, it's space efficiency is much higher than the open access system. The closed access system should be employed as a plan to relieve space shortage problem. Since the closed access system does not allow the public direct access to books, it is very economical. It also provides much better space efficiency with higher book shelving density. In this article, closed access library system models and their characteristics are examined as the reduction plans for the library space shortage problems.

Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) was first published in 1876. Since its first edition it has been revised, on an average, 6 years, and now it has become the widely used library classification system of which the scheme was translated in various languages. The purpose of this study is to find out the chief causes for the development of the DDC. The results of the study can be summarized as follows: 1. It allows materials to be shelved in a relative location as the collection expands. before the DDC was introduced, libraries used a fixed location for materials in which each item was assigned to a certain location set aside for a subject. 2. It is a practical system. The fact that it has survived many storms in the past hundred years and is still the most widely used classification scheme in the world today attests to its practical value. 3. The pure notation of arabic numerals is universally recognizable. People from any cultural or language background can adapt to the system easily. 4. The use of the decimal system enable infinite expansion and sub-division. And it has adaptability for use in libraries of various size and kinds because of its hierarchically expressive notation which permits varying degrees of inclusiveness and exclusiveness within its decimal structure. 5. The notation is simple and easily understood. The self-evident numerical sequence facilitates filing and shelving. And the mnemonic nature of the notation helps the readers to memorize and recognize the class numbers. 6. The relative index brings together different aspects of the same subject scattered in different disciplines. 7. We can avail of DDC numbers for specific titles easily because of its use by many central bibliographic services. 8. It is being continuously revised by a permanent office established in the library of congress in 1933. This office has been responsible for editing all editions of the DDC since the 16th (1958). And the periodic revision at regular intervals ensures the currentness of the scheme. 9. It has adaptability both for conventional (manual) shelf or classed catalogue analysis and also, through its meaningful nation, for retrieval through mechanization and computerized systems.
This study was conducted under the premise that the university library's subject specialization room is in need of major modifications in order to accommodate the needs of various majors. The subject specialization room will be able to support university library users who are inclined to use the general reading room. Therefore, the study presents spatial planning for the average university library's subject specialization room by taking into account student majors. This could be a guideline for the construction and renovation of university libraries in the future. The summary of results for this study and the conclusions are as follows: 1)Natural sciences subject specialization room should be, partially connected with the humanities/social science subject specialization room in order to provide an open-concept reference room. In the shared area connecting the two subject specialization rooms needs to be installed a staff counter and subject specialist librarian service booth for users of both subject specialization rooms. 2)For humanities/social sciences subject specialization room, partially connect with the natural sciences subject specialization room. In the connecting area between the two rooms, plan an open-concept lounge for resting and reading. 3)It is best to plan subject specialization room for art/music/physical education majors separate from the subject specification room of other majors. Structurally separate art/music/physical education major subject specialization rooms from the building or plan a separate room in an art/music/physical education building. Users of art/music/physical education majors showed a high preference for a spatially separated and specialized library structure, which proves that an art/music/physical education library need to be planed based on the specialized library structure found in law school libraries or medical school libraries. Plan the center of the room with open-concept based reading room. Use wall-sides, partitions, or shelves to create reading space separate from the shelving area.

With a purpose of investigating the current status of resource organization for infants and young children's resources, this study examined 8 municipal libraries in J city and suggested recommendations for improvements. To do that, interviews were conducted with 8 children's librarians and 25 users, who were parents visiting the libraries. All libraries examined were using KDC to classify young children's resources, but books were shelved by the alphabetic order of publishers' names. This arrangement strategy was regarded very convenient in re-shelving materials from the perspective of librarians, but users had difficulties in finding books because of the separation of the classification system and the arrangement system. Also, the online public cataloging system did not provide accurate and sufficient information to locate a book. Based on the results, this study suggested two ways for improvements: (1) classifying and arranging books by KDC, (2) developing a new classification system customized to infants and young children.
Despite of increasing digital materials, it is still important to collect print materials and keep their storage space for national level self supporting system as a science and technology(ST) material import country. In order to deal with the storage space issue, we conducted a ST material storage space and its expanding plan for Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information(KISTI). This paper examined first the domestic and overseas standard for the library stack space, analyzed current KISTI library stack space, and finally forecasted its demand in 2020 based on the increasing rate of the stack space. The expanding plans are suggested at the individual library level and also at the cooperative library storage facilities. The results of this paper will help that other libraries diagnose the present status and forecast the future library stack space when they face with the similar problems as it is examined in the KISTI case.
We have studied on characterization and cheese making like mineral contents, protein composition and coagulation pattern on equine milk. At first, for contents of mineral on equine milk, It was lower in equine than bovine milk Contents of Na, Mg, P, Ca and K the major minerals, were indicated as 18.3 mg, 0.4 mg, 33.3 mg, 80.9 mg and 134.9 mg respectively by 100 g. In the distribution of nitrogen, the ratio NPN to Nt was indicated as 9.8% while that of bovine milk was 7%. And In NCN, its percentage was indicated as 45.6% shelving that Equine casein was lower than bovine. From these results, equine milk could not be applicable to cheese production since there are no coagulable nitrogen fraction such as ${\kappa}$-casein, as there aye with bovine milk. Equine milk will be more acceptable if we accept that the phylogenic affinity is near to human. It is the same as equine from the view points that monogastric, which did not contain ruminant's casein. For the rennet coagulation, equine milk was different than bovine milk. Equine milk did not coagulated by rennet after the addition of $Ca^{2+}$. But when bovine ${\kappa}$-casein was added in the presece of rennet, and $Ca^{2+}$ to equine milk, coagulation occurred. Such phenomenon was also observed by the use SEM. Verification of ${\kappa}$-casein by SDS-PACE did not existed in equine milk. The Casein of equine milk(54.4%) is similar to human milk in that casein/whey is about 1. For equine milt this can be explained because distance between casein and Ca is great, casein being lower, which result in reaction of casein with $Ca^{2+}$ because it could not activated which lasting time of coagulation is too long.

This study was to suggest the improvement and the application of KDC 6 for classifying children's books by the literature review and survey. First, it was suggested to shorten the classification numbers by the divisions and subdivisions and to expand the classification numbers by sub-subdivisions according to the library-specific classification policy, using the subject statistics of the children's books held by 20 public libraries affiliated in Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education and representative C libraries. Second, the knowledge picture books and the fairy tales were suggested to be classified according to its subject, and the fairy tales in each country were suggested to be classified by adding sub-subdivisions and genre subdivisions. Third, it was suggested to shelve by collection and location codes that were distinguished by the ages and the reading level for user, to prepare a standard guideline for shelving, and to implement the regular user education about the classification system. This study could contribute to the development of the KDC abridged version for children's books in the future.
Category management has been implemented to enhance competitiveness in the food distribution industry since 2000 in Korea. This study helps to understand why suppliers achieve better or worse performance than competitors in a category. The major objective of this article is to explore which category tactics are effective to have influence on category performance when suppliers as a category captain implement category management with variety enhancer categories like shampoo, toothpaste, and detergent. The Nielsen data were analyzed using regression and Chow test. The empirical results that were varied upon the store type and market position found out which specific actions on product assortments, pricing, shelving, and product replenishment can increase category sales. Specifically, in the case of market leader in large supermarket, the significant indicators of category sales with respect to category tactics are the out-of-stock rate, the variance across brand shares, the forward inventory, and the days supply of a product. However, in the case of follower in large supermarket, the significant indicators of category sales are the variance across brand shares, the forward inventory, and the days supply of a product. On the other hand, in the case of small supermarket, the significant factors on category sales for both market leader and follower are the retail distribution rate, the variance across brand shares, the forward inventory, and the days supply of a product category. In sum, regardless of the store type and market position, dominant brands in a category, the forward inventory, and short days supply of a product improved performance in all categories. Critical difference is that the out-of-stock rate acted as a key ingredient for the market leader between large and small supermarket and the retail distribution rate for the follower between large and small supermarket. This article presents some theoretical and managerial implications of the empirical results and finalizes the paper by addressing limitations and future research directions.
The systemic insecticides carbofuran $(Curaterr\; 3\%\; G)$ mephosfolan $(Cytrolane\; 2\%\; G)$ and disulfoton$(Disyston\; 5\%\; G)$ were evaluated in the field for conrol of some insects on soybeans when the insecticides were applied in seeding-pits at the rates of 4.6, 9.2 and 13.8 mg(a.i)/pit at the planting time. Control of the soybean aphid (Aphis glycines Matsumura) and the two-spotted spider mite (Tetranychus telarius(L.)) on soybeans was obtained for about 2 to 3 months, but their treatments were ineffective against the soybean moth (Grapholitha glycinivorella Matsumura). For the control of aphids and mites, disulfoton was better than carbofuran and mephosfolan. The insecticides slightly reduced the soybean stands, while the low-dose treatments of carbofuran slightly increased the stands. Carbofuran and mephosfolan caused severe phytotoxicity at the early stages, but disulfoton showed slight or negligible phytotoxicity. The phytotoxic symptoms in carbofuran and mephosfolan treatments were shelving the large number of brown or black-brown spots on the cotyledon and the first-leaves, and in addition to that showing necrosis along the leaf-margin. The symptoms in disulfoton treatments were slight withering along the leaf-margin of the first-leaves. In spite of good control of aphids and mites, there were no differences in soybean yield.
The ultimate goal of treatment of carton monoxide poisoning is to promote dissociation of carboxyhemoglobin and to maintain arterial $PO_2$ above 50mmHg throughout the course of treatment to protect vital organs from damage caused by hypoxia. The hyperbaric chamber designed and manufactured for this purpose has obviousely made an enormous contribution and yet has several handicaps to be overcome by any means. These handicaps are: the financial impact to purchase the chamber (especially in a small, remote community), an extra manpower requirement to operate the device, limitation in the capacity of the chamber (one man type), and the possible hazard of oxygen intoxication and dysbarism. The primary objective of this study is to develope a new therapeutic measure as an alternative to the hyperbaric chamber when it is not available or contraindicated. The effect of intestinal perfusion with hydrogen peroxide has been studied by many investigators and was known to be an excellent way of extrapulmonary oxygen supply. the advantage of this method will include; 1) much more amount of oxygen is delivered to the tissue than one would expect from 100% saturation with oxygen at 1 ata, 2) the procedure is simple and most economical, 3) neither sophisticated equipment nor extra manpower is required. As a study preliminary to the clinical application, authors conducted a series of experiment to observe the effect of hydrogen peroxide enema on dissociation of carboxyhemoglobin in intoxicated rabbit blood. Using an animal gas chamber, 20 rabbits were exposed to CO gas of 6,000 ppm for 60 minutes. Ten rabbits of control group were given 10cc of warmed normal saline solution by reactal perfusion and for the other 10 of the experimental group, the same amount of 1% $H_{2}O_{2}$ solution was given by the same way. Two blood specimens were drawn from each rabbit: the first one immediately following the exposure and the second one after rectal perfusion, about 30 minutes after the first sampling. The result was as follows; 1) The decrease in carboxyhemoglobin concentration during the first 30 minutes in the control and experimental group were $18.18{\pm}4.49%\;and\;23.03{\pm}4.13%$ respectively shelving the significant difference (p<0.05) between the two groups. 2) Hemoglobin and hematocrit value showed no significant difference between two groups and not altered significantly by intestinal perfusion with $H_{2}O_{2}$.
