Traffic flow measurement system using image processing

  • In this paper, we propose a simple algorithm to calculate the numbers of the passing cars by using an image processing sensor for the digital black and white images with 256 tone level. Shadow is one of the most troublesome factor in image processing. By differencing the tone level, we cannot discriminate between the body of the car and its shadow. In our proposed algorithm, the area of the shadow is excluded by recognizing the position of each traffic lane. For real-time operation and simple calculation, two lines of the tone level are extracted and the existences of cars are recognized. In the experimental application on a high-way, the recognition rate of the real-time operation is more than 94%.

  • This paper proposes detection method of vehicles using camera for auto-vehicle-system. Detection method is based on shadow detection and symmetric feature of vehicle. This method consists of three part. First is lane detection. By lane detection, we can reduce the area for vehicle detection. Second part is shadow detection. Shadow has information of vehicle width and position. Third part is symmetry. This feature is helpful for confirming the vehicle.

  • This paper proposes an integrated positioning system to localize a moving object in the shadow-area that exists in the water tank. The new water tank for underwater robots is constructed to evaluate the navigation performance of underwater vehicles. Several sensors are integrated in the water tank to provide the position information of the underwater vehicles. However there are some areas where the vehicle localization becomes very poor since the very limited sensors such as sonar and depth sensors are effective in underwater environment. Also there are many disturbances at sonar data. To reduce these disturbances, an extended Kalman filter has been adopted in this research. To localize the underwater vehicles under the hostile situations, a SVR (Support Vector Regression) has been systematically applied for estimating the position stochastically. To demonstrate the performance of the proposed algorithm (an extended Kalman filter + SVR analysis), a new UI (User Interface) has been developed.

음영 지역을 위한 주기적 프리픽스 없는 주파수 효율적인 주파수 공간 블록 부호화 중계기 전송 시스템 (Spectral Efficient SF Block Coded Relay Transmission System without Cyclic Prefix for a Shadow Area)

  • 본 논문에서는 중계기를 통해 다중 경로가 확보된 음영 지역에서 주파수 공간 블록 부호를 적용한 주파수 효율적인 SC-FDMA(Single Carrier-Frequency Division Multiple Access) 전송 시스템을 제안한다. 본 논문에서 제안된 시스템은 주기적 프리픽스 사용에 따른 주파수 효율 감소를 방지하기 위하여 주기적 프리픽스를 사용하지 않는다. 주기적 프리픽스를 사용하지 않음에 따라 훼손되는 채널 주기성을 중계기와 수신국의 수신기에서 복원함으로써, 주기적 프리픽스를 사용하지 않는 제안된 시스템의 성능이 충분한 주기적 프리픽스를 사용하는 기존 시스템의 성능과 거의 동일하여 시스템의 주파수 효율이 향상되는 것을 실험을 통해 확인할 수 있다.

초등학교 빛과 그림자 단원에 적용한 인지 가속 수업 전략의 효과 (The Effects of Cognitive Acceleration Instructional Strategies Applied to Unit of 'The Light and Shadow' in Elementary School)

  • This study investigated the effects of teaching-learning lesson plan using cognitive acceleration instructional strategies applied to the unit, 'The Light and Shadow' in elementary school. Two classes of the second grade elementary students (N=63) in Chungcheongbukdo districts were assigned to control and treatment groups each, and were taught about 'The Light and Shadow' for 8 class hours. For the treatment group, teaching-learning lesson plan using cognitive acceleration instructional strategies developed by this research was applied. The traditional instruction by textbook and teacher's guides was used for the control group. All students were tested with the test for concept of the shadow and the test for academic achievement about the unit. As the result of the post-test, the scores of the treatment group were higher than those of the control group. However, it was not statistically meaningful difference. The scores of the treatment group were significantly higher than those of the control group in the delayed-post-test for concept of the shadow. No significant interaction was observed with respect to the students' gender, instruction and pre-level for the concept of the shadow. Data analysis indicated that the scores of the treatment group were significantly higher than those of the control group in the post-test and delayed- post-test for the concept of the shadow in the area of object permanence. Our research work shows the effectiveness of the teaching-learning lesson using cognitive acceleration instructional strategies for the development for concept of the shadow for elementary school students, and suggests the necessity for this kind of teaching-learning program in the fields.

항공영상에서 그림자 경계 탐색 및 복원 기법 연구 (A Study for Introducing a Method of Detecting and Recovering the Shadow Edge from Aerial Photos)

  • 항공 영상은 지도 제작과 지상 피복 분류와 같은 간단한 목적뿐만 아니라 도시계획, 환경, 재난, 교통 등과 같은 사회적인 목적에서 필수적이다. 그러나 영상이 취득될 때 간섭되는 그림자는 지상 정보를 해석하는데 방해요소로 작용하고, 자신의 업무 및 연구에 사용하려는 사용자에게 제한적인 요인으로 작용한다. 일반적으로 그림자는 건물과 표면 지형 등에 의해 발생하며 세부적인 원인으로 이러한 지형에 의한 광원의 변화에 의해 생성된다. 본 연구는 그림자를 제거하기 위하여 단일 영상만을 사용하며 영상의 원 출처 및 촬영상태의 사전 정보 없이 처리하였다. 또한 그림자 경계 마스크를 제작하기 위하여 엔트로피 최소화 기법을 사용한 1차원 흑백 불변 영상(invariant images)과 Canny 경계 검출법을 적용하였으며, 최종적으로 퓨리어(Fourier) 주파수 공간에서의 필터링을 통한 고유 영상(intrinsic images)을 제작함으로써 3차원의 컬러 정보를 복원하고 그림자를 제거하였다.

  • To ensure drive's field of view, obstruction area generated by a steering wheel, hub and spoke must be considered at the early stage of automobile design. The current approach to computing obstruction area proposed by SAE is based on 2D drafting procedures so that it is not precise and errorprone. In the paper we discuss the novel approach which models the obstruction area as the shadows of the steering wheel, hub and spoke by assuming the human eye as light sources. The approach is based on ray tracing and space transformations for that it can be applied when free form curves are hired to represent the steering wheel, hub and spoke in CAD environment. As a result, it gives more predise and reliable results than SAE approach.

A Study on Implementation of Safety Navigation Mobile Application Converging Marine Environment Information and Location-Based Service

  • In this paper, we implemented a safety navigation mobile application that converged AtoN information and location-based services. When application user uses the smartphone's GPS sensor to transmit the user's vessel location data to the data server, the user receives information of which its providing range is considered, such as stored AtoN data, neighboring vessels information, danger area, and weather information in the server. Providing information is sorted based on the smartphone's direction and inclination and it will be also delivered via wireless network (5G, LTE, 3G, WiFi). Additionally the application is available to implement other functions such as information provision through voice and text alarming service when the user's vessel is either approaching or entering the danger area, and an expanded information provision service that is available in shadow area linking with data-storing methods; other linkable data such as weather and other neighboring vessels will be applied based on the lasted-saved data perceived from the non-shadow area.

THE EFFECTS OF DIFFERENT SHADING OF MULCHING ON YIELD OF ROOT AND QUALITY IN PANAX GINSENG

  • This experiment was on the purpose to study the effects of different shading of Mulching treatments on the quality and yield of ginseng root. This experiment were conducted at Mei-Feng for one year, from July, 1972 to July, 1973. The variety been used was introduced Korea Panax ginsvng. Three different Shading of Mulching treatments have been studied. The results were summerized as follows: 1. The growth of ginseng plant is good under around 4,300 Lux of light intensity. Fig . showed the shadow treatment of straw had a better effect than that of black or grey plastic film. The differences between treatments were significant. 2. The adequate soil temperature for ginseng culture was in the range of $16-18^{\circ}C$. Fig 2. showed that there were significant differences among treatments, of which the straw shadow treatment had the best effect. 3. The growth of ginseng plant was greatly affected wth various shadow treatments. Fig 1. showed both straw and black plastic film treatments had a better effects on growth of stem, leaf area and leaf numbers. 4. Fig. 2. 3. 4. 5 indicated there were distingished differences among all treatments. The straw and black plastics film mulching treatments had a better effects on root length, root diameter, root weight and leaf weight than the grey plastic film. 5. The amount of plant alkaloids and panacene content had related to the shadow treatment, as showed in Fig. 6 and 7 that straw shadow treatment had greatly increased the procuction of plant alkaloids and panacene content. 6. The quality and yield of roots of ginseng greatly affected by different shading of mulching treatments.

중첩 이종 네트워크 환경에서의 가우스-마코프 이동 모델 기반의 효율적인 새도우 클러스터 메카니즘 (A Novel Shadow Clustering Mechanism based on Gauss-Markov Mobility Model in Nested Heterogeneous Networks)

  • 차세대 무선 네트워크 환경에서 사용자들은 이동 시에도 끊김없는 서비스를 제공 받을 수 있어야 한다. 즉, 단말의 이동 방향과 속력을 예측하여 핸드오버와 자원 예약 절차 과정에서 발생하는 전송 지연과 패킷 손실을 줄이는 것이 필수적인 요소이다. 또한 사용자는 제한된 서비스 영역과 서비스 종류에 맞는 네트워크를 사용할 수 있어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 가우스-마고프 이동 모델을 기반으로 하여 단말의 이동 방향과 속력에 대한 패턴을 분석하여 다음 이동 정보를 예측하고, 단말의 요구 조건에 맞는 이종 네트워크를 선택할 수 있는 계층적 새도우 클러스터(Layered Shadow Cluster)를 제안한다. 또한, 3개의 이종 네트워크로 구성된 네트워크 모델에서 가상 시나리오에 따라 기존의 방안과 성능 비교를 통해 제안 알고리즘의 효율성을 살펴본다.
