The purpose of this study was to examine the prevalence and correlated factors of sexual behavior among high school students in Seoul A sample of 233 male and 248 female high school students were analyzed using cross-tabulation and logit regression models. Correlated factors examined include type of school, level of mothers education, perceived living status of family, whether family has two parents or not, and whether students have ever lived away from the family, whether students received reproductive health education at school and whether they have friends with sexual experience, whether students have ever smoking and alcohol drinking. The prevalence of alcohol drinking was 73% among boys and 55% among girls and the prevalence of smoking was 64% of boys and 40% of girls, whereas the prevalence of sexual activity was 27% among boys and 15% among girls. Risk taking was more prevalent among boys than among girls. Multiple risk taking behavior was common for both boys and girls. Students who did not have two parents were more likely to engage in risk taking behavior than those who had two parents. For both boys and girls, the factor that affects their own sexual activity most was having a friend who was sexually active and having an experience of living away from their family also increases the odds. For girls, the factor that affects having experience of alcohol drinking and smoking. Receiving reproductive health education at school had no effect on students sexual behavior. Much higher risk taking behavior with sexual behavior among students in Seoul implies that the overall prevalence of risk taking behavior among high school students was likely to rise as South Korea continues its modernization. In-school and community health education programs need to be modified to be effective in protecting students from risk taking sexual behavior.
Purpose: It has been suggested that approximately 40% of women between 40 and 64 years of age cease their sexual activity. The aim of this study was to establish the basic data for FSD(female sexual dysfunction) and FSD-related factors in regional urban and rural areas of Korea. Method: Three hundred twenty five women over 20 years of age and resident in regional urban and rural areas were analyzed by a visit survey with an organized questionnaire. The female sexual function index(FSFI) for measurement of sexual dysfunction was used. The significance between the degree of sexual dysfunction and characteristics of the participants was analyzed by a t-test and ANOVA test. The relationship between the degree of sexual dysfunction and related factors was analyzed by Pearson's correlation coefficient. Results: All analyzing tools including the FSFI had a high validity for measuring. The FSFI in Korean women was $19.97{\pm}4.87$ and ranged from 2 to 29. Old age, menopause, medication, no contraception usage and longer marital duration were significantly related with a lower FSFI score. Pearson's correlation coefficient revealed the significance in degrees of sexual distress (r=-.469, p=.000), sexual attitude(r=.305, p=.000) and a stressful life event(r= -.141, p=.038) with the sexual function index score. Conclusion: Women with sexual dysfunction should be evaluated for these sexual function-related factors in the history taking, and this data can be a basis for study for sexual dysfunction.
This study examines knowledge, attitudes and behaviors toward sexual activity among 412 college students in Seoul. An 127-item questionnaire is used in order to understand and consider alcircumstances involved in decisions about sexual activity, and to reflect to the course on healthy sexuality. The major findings are as follows: 1. ‘Books/media’ and ‘friends’ are the primary source of sexual knowledge. 2. Despite the increased number of sxeducation programs, peers apparently remain the major source of information and the counsellor of the sexual problems(71.6%). 3. About ninety percent of males and 14.2 percent of females masurbate. Although mastubation is anormal response to pleasurable bodily feelings, students feel ‘unnatural’, ‘bad’ or ‘guilty’. 4. For some students, sexual intercourse is perceived as the natural outgrowth of love. More than thirty oercent of males and 8. 1 percent of females are engaged in inter -course. 5. Asking parents or teachers to be specific in talking about sex makes it uncomfortable to discuss sex. 6. Sex education should begin in the family and in school in early childhood and continue throughout life. 7. Sexual feelings and emotions are stirred up differently between male and female by sexual sensations. 8. Half of the intimate relationship with opposite sex shows a love relationship with sexual closeness and pleasure. Unguided reading or peers remain the primary source of information about topics like masurbation and sexual technique. Thus, schools should be responsible for the more value-laden subjects (such as birth control, homosexuality, and sexual techniques). And inclusionof a peer education componebt that modified college students' perceived peer norms may be the intervention method of choice. The prevention of health problems is far more desirable than treatment. The earlier the knowledge and skill to make healthful decisions are instilled, the greater the chance a healthful lifestyle will be adopted. School is the logical place in our society to provide the college students learning opportunities essential to developing the knowledge and skills to choose a healthful life course.

Objectives: Adolescents who engage in unhealthy behaviors are particularly vulnerable to anxiety. We hypothesized that participation in physical activity could influence the relationship between anxiety and unhealthy behaviors in adolescents. These behaviors include smoking, alcohol consumption, and unsafe sexual activity. Methods: This study included 50 301 students from the first year of middle school to the third year of high school, all from Korea. The unhealthy adolescent behaviors examined included current alcohol consumption, current smoking, and unsafe sexual behavior. Anxiety levels were assessed using the Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 questionnaire (GAD-7). Results: The participants had a mean age of 15.19 years and an average GAD-7 score of 4.23. No significant differences were observed in GAD-7 score among exercising participants when categorized by smoking status (p=0.835) or unsafe sexual behavior (p=0.489). In contrast, participants in the non-exercise group who engaged in these behaviors demonstrated significantly higher GAD-7 scores (p<0.001 and 0.016, respectively). The only significant interaction was found between unsafe sexual behavior and exercise (p=0.009). Based on logistic regression analysis, within the non-exercise group, significant positive associations were observed between current smoking and anxiety (odds ratio [OR], 1.36; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.18 to 1.57), as well as between unsafe sexual behavior and anxiety (OR, 1.33; 95% CI, 1.02 to 1.73). However, within the exercise group, no significant association was found between anxiety and either smoking or unsafe sexual behavior. Furthermore, no significant interaction was observed between unhealthy behaviors and exercise. Conclusions: These findings are insufficient to conclude that physical activity influences the relationship between unhealthy behaviors and anxiety.

Purpose: This study attempted to identify the sexual function (ALARM: Activity, Libido, Arousal and orgasm, Resolution, Medical history) of patients who have had an ostomy for the development of an ALARM sexual counseling program. Method: Subjects for this descriptive study were recruited from the outpatient clinic of a university affiliated medical center and peer group. Fifty-two subjects who have had an ostomy and lived with their spouse were selected. Instruments were developed by researchers based on the ALARM model by Anderson (1990). Results: In the subject group, 32.7% patients were not sexually active and 76.9% hesitated to have sexual activity because of the stoma. The mean score of resolution was 13.2 (range: 8-32), with a higher score for couple's intimacy indicating a higher level of libido and resolution. Conclusion: This study presents a series of clinical guidelines that nurses can use to accurately assess sexual health issues and select appropriate sexual counseling for patients with an ostomy.

In the mathematical model for the transmission dynamics of HIV infection described in previous papers, the population under consideration is assumed to be homogeneous community of homosexual males for which the parameter x represents the constant rate at which individual members of the population acquire new sexual partners. This is a gross oversimplification since it is well known that individuals vary widely in their levels of sexual activity and in this papers the heterogeneous model is modified to allow for this variation. The pattern on the epidemic character of HIV, the causative agent of AIDS, was analysed by heterogeneous-mixing model. The computer simulation was performed using real date.
A sexual dimorphism in terbufos (S-t-butylthiomethyl-O,O-diethyl phosphorodithioate: TBF) toxicity was not reported and remains unclear. Previously. we reported that TBF treatment showed sexual dimorphic effects on acetylcholinesterase (AchE) activity. We further investigated that sexual dimorphism of TBF was affected to age and brain-regional selectivity, and whether ovary plays an important role in the effect. (omitted)
The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors which influence the college student sex behavior. The results can be used as the basis to establish health polices and a health promotion program to reduce the risks of sexual behavior of college students. The study subjects were random selected from college students in Kyonggido. The 335 subjects were selected from 4 schools including three colleges and one university. The self-administered questionnaires were distributed to 350 students, 335 of which were analyzed (after excluding the 15 incomplete or inaccurate data). The study took place between December 7-19, 1998. Regarding the analysis method, the SPSS program was used. The relationship between social and demographic characteristics and relevant factors was identified through Chi-squared test. The major findings of the study were follows: 1. Of the 335 respondents, thirty seven percent of men and ten percent of women had already experienced sexual intercourse. Significantly more males had experienced sexual experience than women. The majority of students, living with both their parents had less sexually experience than that living without their parents. There were religious differences, that students who believed in buddhism had more sexual experience than christian or catholic students. Students who reported drinking alcohol frequently had more sexual experience than those who didn't and it was statistically significant (${\chi}^2=47.6$ df=4 p=0.000). 2. Sexual awareness was relatively low. High level group of sex knowledge were less sexual experience than middle or low level group (${\chi}^2=6.038$ df=2 p=0.049). Women were more sexually aware than men (${\chi}^2=20.814$ df=2 p=0.000). Groups who had sisters and brothers were more sexually aware than those who few sisters and brothers. 3. Sixty one percent of respondents said that chastity before marriage should be kept but twenty four percent of them felt that it was unnecessary. Opponents to chastity before marriage had more sex experience than those for. It was statistically significant (${\chi}^2=48.967$ df=2 p=0.000). Those who agreed with the questionnaire point 'Even if people are not married, if they love each other, they can have sexual intercourse.' had more sexual intercourse than those who didn't agree. Those who agreed with the questionnaire point 'Even though people doesn't like, they can still have sexual intercourse.' had more sexual intercourse than those who disagree. On this point, men were three times higher of the opinion than women. So we can see the difference in the perception between men and women. As a result of this study, sexual awareness influences sexual attitudes and sexual attitudes influence sexual awareness influences sexual activity includes poor knowledge and uninformed attitudes about sex. Therefore sex education is needed and it is very important to reestablish concepts about sex.

Purpose: We measured the knowledge, satisfaction, and education needs in sexual rehabilitation of male patients diagnosed with a spinal cord injury. Methods: We recruited 104 patients from a general rehabilitation hospital. Data were collected between April 4 and May 9, 2008. Knowledge of sexual rehabilitation, satisfaction, and educational needs were measured using self-report questionnaires. Results: Points for knowledge of sexual rehabilitation were 6.75 out of 20, sexual satisfaction was 3.02 out of 5, and demand for sexual rehabilitation education were 3.54 out of 5. Most (93.27%) of the patients wanted to have a sex life, and many (75%)were willing to participate in sexual rehabilitation education. There were no differences in knowledge or satisfaction based on general characteristics. However, sexual satisfaction of the university graduates was higher than the lower education group. Conclusion: Male patients with spinal cord disorders are interested in a sex life and demand sexual rehabilitation education. These findings should support the development of sexual rehabilitation programs.
The primary objectives of this research is to identify the unmarried mother's (1) socio-demographic characteristics and (2) factors that correlates their stress and (3) factors that predicts their stress. This study uses the data based on interviews with 136 unmarried mothers selected purposive sampling from the 5 unmarried mothers protective institutions in Seoul, Pyungtak, Chunchon, Taegu, and Gwanju. The major findings were as follows. First of all, the age of the first sexual activity of the late-teens among the unmarried mothers are over the half. The portions over the one time abortion are 33.3%. Second, the social support part in the coping sub-category had positive correlation with the stress of unmarried mothers. And the age of the first sexual activity and my thought on the adolescent sex had negative correlation with the stress of unmarried mothers. Third, the age of the first sexual activity predicted the stress of unmarried mothers. Therefore, the comprehensive and systematic intervention programs should be required to ensure that they intervene the stress of unmarried mothers.
