  • In this paper, we proposed a mobile ad hoc routing protocol based on AODV(Ad hoc On demand Distance Vector) with QoS(Quality of Service) support and evaluated the performance through simulation. The waste of communication resources is reduced by establishing the shortest route suitable to QoS support, considering in advance the usable communication resources at each node. For performance evaluation, we analyzed the average data reception rate, considering the node mobility and the number of best effort/QoS data flows. We found that in the mobile Ad Hoc networks the QoS service for some specific data flows increased the average data reception rate for the QoS data flows.

  • The purposes of this study were to analyze the gap between foodservice personnel and inpatients, to urge foodservice providers to reconsider by identifying the problems in service delivery for customer satisfaction, and to deduce the priority for foodservice quality improvement. The results of this study can be summarized as follows : the average perception score of personnel (4.32 out of 5) was higher than that of customers (3.90). In particular, the customers' perceptions of 17 attributes, which included 'removal service of tray by foodservice personnel', 'nutrition and health-related information service', 'handling inpatient's complaint ASAP', 'delicious meals' and 'salty enough meals' and so on, was significantly lower than personnel's. Both service providers and customers perceived that 'personnel attitude' was the highest and 'meal quality' was the lowest among the 4 factors, but there was significant difference on 'meal quality'(p < .001), 'customer reception' (p < .001) and 'personnel attitude' (p < .05) between the two groups. As a results of quadrant analysis, 'removal service of tray by foodservice personnel', 'handling inpatient's complaints ASAP' and 'meal service according to doctor's orders were categorized into Quadrant A with meaning of high personnel's perceptions and low customers'. Therefore service providers have to perceive the gap between the two viewpoints and grant priority to these attributes in improving foodservice qualify. • In order to foster 'creative convergence talents' teachers and pre-service teachers who possess a certain degree of creativity must learn about this new approach as part of their teacher training. In this study, we attempted to identify the implications on the curriculum of the teacher education-training college in question by analysing secondary school teachers' and pre-service teachers' creativity and by collecting sufficient data to develop a positive feedback model for selecting, cultivating, and appointing pre-service teachers who fulfil the requirements of said college of education. Such teachers will display the commitment and professionalism to fulfil their teaching duties in the best possible manner and will consistently produce valuable contributions to their chosen subject matter and integrate these into their daily teaching. These teachers will complete all their tasks in a creative way, including student guidance, administrative duties, and academic lessons. The factors that distinguished creative teachers from others included originality and fluency. Our test group comprised 216 pre-service teachers as well as 137 fully qualified teachers. Teachers' understanding of the factors required in order to qualify as a 'creative and committed teacher' was very low. We provided data to the college of education to increase creativity when selecting teachers and curricula based on an analysis of perceptions of creativity provided by teachers and pre-service teachers.

  • We propose a quality guaranteed scalable video streaming service over the Internet using a new rate adaptation algorithm. Because video data requires much more bandwidth rather than other types of service, therefore, quality of video streaming service should be guaranteed while providing friendliness with other service flows over the Internet. To successfully provide this, we propose a framework for providing quality-guaranteed streaming service using two-channel transport layer and rate adaptation of scalable video stream. In this framework, baseline layer for scalable video is transmitted using TCP transport for minimum qualify service. Enhancement layers are delivered using TFRC transport with layer adaptation algorithm. The proposed framework jointly uses the status of playout buffer in the client and the encoding rate of layers in media contents. Therefore, the proposed algorithm can remarkably guarantee minimum quality of streaming service rather than conventional approaches regardless of network congestion and the encoding rate variation of media content.

  • Mobile computing environment is known to be quite difficult to provide user with a stable QoS(Qualify of Service) due to its mobility nature. In order to protect the inherent characteristics of wireless network such as low bandwidth and high transmission delay along with the user's mobility, many works are conducted to apply caching and prefetching methods. This paper presents a novel prefetching technique which is based on user's preference, that is, interest and Uuかity. It tries to improves the effectiveness of prefetching by separating and appling the interest with personal tendency of a given information, and the popularity with general tendency of the information. The proposed scheme shown relatively superior performance in terms of the utilization ratio of prefetched information and the failure ratio of information retrieval than the existing methods.

  • Bandwidth is an extremely valuable and scarce resource in a wireless network. Therefore, efficient bandwidth management is necessary in order to provide high qualify service to users with different requirements in a multimedia wireless/mobile network. In this paper, we propose an on-line bandwidth reservation algorithm that adjusts bandwidth reservations adaptively based on existing network conditions. The most important contribution of our work is an adaptive algorithm that is able to resolve conflicting performance criteria - bandwidth utilization, call dropping and call blocking probabilities. Our algorithm is quite flexible, is responsive to current traffic conditions in cellular networks, and tries to strike the appropriate performance balance between contradictory requirements for QoS sensitive multimedia services.
