The Impacts of Perceived Service Quality and Restaurant Type on Customer Satisfaction and Return Patronage Intentions: An Exploratory Investigation with a Focus on Solo Diners

  • The purpose of this study is to empirically test a proposed relationship among perceived restaurant quality, type of restaurant, satisfaction, and return patronage intentions with a focus on solo diners. More specifically, the objectives of this study are to assess the effects of three perceived qualities (i.e., food, service, and physical environment) and types of restaurants on solo diner (1) satisfaction and (2) return patronage intentions. The findings show that the greatest weight was put on food quality in increasing both solo diner satisfaction and return patronage intentions. Service quality was the second important contributor in satisfying solo diners, followed by physical environment quality. In addition, the findings indicated that solo diner satisfaction was affected by different types of restaurants.

  • The purpose of this study was conducted to provide the useful information to get the best location when developing new stores in restaurant business. The results of this study show that the international airport's store provides better service quality in most service quality factors than other locations' stores. However, the three city stores perform better service quality in the store's atmosphere than the airport's store. These results means that these stores' customers who are younger than the airport's customers consider the shop's atmosphere more important than other service quality factors.

  • In order to cope with the severe business environment and possess the competitive advantage in the food service industry, the effect of organization culture and leadership on competitive advantage in food service companies was investigated. The friendly culture was regarded as important in relation between corporate culture and leadership. And the tendency to participate was shown to be highly correlated to leadership. Leadership and competitive advantage were influenced by the tendency to participate, differentiation and competence. The corporate culture and competitive advantage were affected by the friendly culture, differentiation and competence. Especially, the organization culture was more important than leadership. Therefore, it is necessary to execute the tendency to participate, differentiate products, service and management, and attract customers. And the maintenance of competitive power is required to develop a new product, evaluate customer satisfaction, and improve decision making, problem solving and crisis management.

  • With the interest on operational efficiency due to the rapid growth of food material distribution industry and food service industry, the study adopts DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) model and examines to measure the technological, pure technical and scale efficiency those companies engaging in the food material distribution and food service business. As a result of analysis, the companies operating integrated business have relatively higher efficiency than those operating only food material distribution or food service companies while the result indicates that three efficiencies don't have significant difference depending on whether affiliated companies or not.   • This study examined the effects of organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) upon perception of service quality as well as evaluation of customers. 300 copies of questionnaires were distributed to the employees as well as the customers respectively, and 276 copies and 282 copies were collected from each group. There remained 265 copies each to investigate after excluding each 11 and 17 copies of noneffective questionnaires. As a result, the effects of organizational citizenship behavior upon service quality such as altruistic behavior, citizens' consciousness and sportsmanship, etc had significant influence upon the customers' perception of service quality.

  • The purpose of this study is to make clear the importance of the physical environment as the factor of service evaluation and to establish the decisive factors with the expansion of the existing research model. This is also designed to suggest the administrative marketing strategies based on the customer research on the physical environment factors which can affect their shopping behavior who have visited the hotel restaurants. According to the results, it is obvious that physical environment have a great effect on service evaluation. It can be concluded that customers' satisfaction felt by physical environment gives positive influence on their shopping and they perceive the environment not individually but as a whole.

  • A Study on the strategic methods for internal marketing of Family Restaurant. We know that customer satisfaction in measuring the effect of marketing performance on employees in service industry. There are four strategies of internal marketing for service-employee, which are participation-promotion and manner-management of employee, classification to employee, communication strategy, motivation environment for employee. First, communication, sales and service technology of employee can be developed and improved through the education and training. Second, company can make better achievement by classifying life-style and individual desire. Third, communication strategy can improve service quality by development of team-work through the confidence and joint-responsibility. Fourth. the company make environment which employee can compete by offering incentive fairly and properly. In the conclusion, when employees serve customers in a depressed attitude, they neglect service process and bring about customer non-satisfaction. This have negative effect on external customer satisfaction in the short term. And so that customer-satisfaction can't exist without employee-satisfaction. that is job-satisfaction is the goal of company. therefore study about internal marketing action should be go on.

  • Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a new type of respiratory disease that has been announced as a pandemic. The COVID-19 outbreak has changed the way we live. It has also changed the food service industry. This study aimed to identify trends in the food and food service industry after the COVID-19 outbreak and suggest research themes induced by industry trends. This study investigated the industry and academic information on the food and food service industry and societal trends resulting from the COVID-19 outbreak. The most noticeable changes in the food industry include the explosive increase in home meal replacement, meal-kit consumption, online orders, take-out, and drive-through. The adoption of technologies, including robots and artificial intelligence, has also been noted. Such industry trends are discussed in this paper from a research perspective, including consumer, employee, and organizational strategy perspectives. This study reviews the changes in the food service industry after COVID-19 and the implications that these changes have rendered to academia. The paper concludes with future expectations that would come in the era of COVID-19.

  • This paper attempted to understand the university students' perception on the Korean Wave in Malaysia. Six Malaysian students were involved in this study and three research questions guided the entire study. The first question explored Malaysian university students' perception about the Korean Wave in general; the second involved how the media influences the perception of the Korean Wave; and third question looked into the economic effects that would influence students' perception of the Korean Wave. Among the six students, all of them had positive perception of the Korean Wave and were heavily influenced through the media. Thus, it can be said that it brought positive feedback to the Korean Wave. The awareness of the Korean Wave was found to be increasingly popular due to media development. This study helped understand the Korean Wave from Malaysian students' perception.
