The use of SNS (Social Network Service) has been increasing in world society and the SNS has been used to satisfy different purposes of social groups over the years. In the beginning, the SNS were formed using e-mail, listserve, newsgroup, etc., where information was shared among relatively homogeneous groups of people. Now different groups including corporations have been using SNS such as personal web pages, blogs, Facebook and Twitter for their social media marketing. This study intends to verify the relationship between SNS use and export marketing performance. To achieve this, different types of SNS use were analyzed in order to verify their relationship with export marketing performance. The conceptual model is suggested in this paper and several research constructs are identified. The constructs used in this paper include export marketing performance, SNS use, degree of innovation, product online fitness, marketing competence, and internationalization competence. According to the results, the SNS use directly influences the export marketing performance. In addition, the factors which determine the level of SNS use are product's online fitness and organizational willingness to undertake innovation. Therefore, it is suggested to increase SNS use in different marketing purposes for future research.
This paper conducts a Structural Dcomposition Analysis on the structure of factors contributing to the output growth of Korean Maritime and Port Industry during year 2000~ year 2017. Some of results are as follows. The output growth rates of the industry (yearly average 4.3%) was far lower than the average growth rates of Service as well as of Manufacturing Industries (yearly average 9% and 6.8%, respectively) due to the lower output growth of Maritime Industry. Among the growth contributing factors, change in domestic demand for final goods is the first contributing factor, and then change in technology, change in export and import substitution for intermediate goods are followed in order, but import substitution for final goods decreased its output. However, in each respective sub-periods of pre-global financial crisis and post-global financial crisis, change in the export, especially change in the export of Maritime Industry is the dominant determinant of output change in the Maritime and Port Industry in opposite ways. In the periods of the former the increase in the export of Maritime Industry overwhelmingly led the output growth of the Maritime and Port industry, but in the periods of the latter the decrease in its export was the culprit of lower output growth of the industry. On the other hand, among all industries of service and manufacturing sectors, Wholesale and Retail industry is the leading industry in contributing to the output growth of the Maritime and Port Industry, and Transportation Equipment industry is the leading industry among all manufacturing industries.
Global economy these days is characterized with an unlimited competition due to Globalization and Information Age. Expansion of E-business accelerates informationized and globalized society and also intensifies market competition. As a result, global economy gradually develops to knowledge-based economy, and Business Service Industry becomes essential to the production increase in the manufacturing industry as well as its high added value comes into the spotlight as one of rapidly growing business industry. Business Service Industry has not yet been academically established, however, it may be defined as the industry of which production is a mediating service in the production process rather than in the final consumption. The export of the manufacturing industry has traditionally played mainstream role in Korea where economic development has been centered on the manufacturing export. However, as with increasing emphasis on the role of service sector and highly developed industrial field in the national economy, not only the relationships between manufacturing industry and service industry becomes rapidly more involved, but also the importance of highly competitive service industry becomes emphasized in accordance with open global economy after WTO system takes off. Now it is time we come to the realization that service is in the center of national competitive power as a result of global door open in all service industry.

This paper conducts the input-output structural decomposition analysis on the growth of ICT industry during year 2000~2019. The novel feature of this study is to dissect the economy-wide collective growth contributions into industry by industry contributions. The main results are as follows. First, the growth of ICT manufacturing industry has excessively depended on its own export and import-substitution of intermediate goods, while the growth of ICT service industry has heavily depended on its own domestic final goods demand. Second, for the growth of ICT manufacturing industry, its own contribution is about 79%, and the contributions of non-ICT service and manufacturing industries respectively are 11% and 9%, but the contribution of ICT service industry is only about 1%. For the growth of ICT service industry, its own contribution is about 61%, and the contributions of non-ICT service and non-manufacturing industries respectively are about 33% and 5%, but, surprisingly, the contribution of ICT manufacturing industry is less than 1%. Third, the contributions of non-ICT manufacturing and service industries to the growth of both ICT industries have been done mainly through increase in export and domestic final goods demand together with change in the structure of input technology.
Purpose - Exports have long been regarded as significant drivers of sustainable competitive advantage and growth among small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The export activities of SMEs are particularly important in the context of export-oriented economies such as Korea. Although many studies have examined the determinants of exports, it is difficult to find empirical studies about the determinants of the export performance of regional SMEs. This study investigates the determinants of export performance in the regional SME context based on an integrated approach that combines the environment factor of industrial organization theory, competitive strategy theory, and the competences of the resource-based view. Research design, data, and methodology - To empirically analyze the determinants of export performance in the regional SMEs, data were collected from firms in the Daegu metropolitan area. Data were collected directly through questionnaire surveys; in addition, secondary financial data were also taken from the KIS-VALUE database. Out of the 175 responses that were received, 143 were considered to be worth examining. After testing the reliability and validity of the variables through multiple items such as environmental turbulence and competitive strategy, hypotheses were verified by using five multi-regression models. These models were: a control model with organizational size and age, an environmental model with technology and market turbulence, a competency model with R&D and foreign distribution channels, a strategy model with product and market differentiation, and an integrated model including all of these variables. Results - First, as a control variable, the organization size has significant positive effects on export performance. Second, technology turbulence based on industrial organization theory has significant positive effects on export performance, but market turbulence does not affect export performance. Third, the foreign market distribution competency of the resource-based view has strong positive effects on export performance, but the R&D competency does not affect export performance. Fourth, the product differentiation strategy from competitive strategy theory positively impacts export performance, but market differentiation does not affect export performance. Finally, in the integrated model, only the foreign distribution competency of the resource-based view has a significant effect on export performance. Conclusions - The empirical results of this study verified the usefulness of the rationales behind the three theories to explain the export performance of the regional SMEs, especially the importance of the foreign market distribution competency from the resource-based view. With regard to practical considerations, this study's implications suggest that the use of technological environmental changes by industries is better than the use of market changes. Further, the use of the product differentiation strategy is more effective than the use of the market-driving strategy, and the distribution channel competency plays a stronger role than the technology-oriented competency with regard to the export performance position of regional SMEs. Future studies should examine relational perspectives, such as trust among channel partners. Therefore, the configuration approach is more useful in enhancing pragmatism by comparing high- and low-export companies.
The Livestock Raw Material Purchase Fund is a policy to increase the export of livestock products by providing loans to exporters of livestock products (including byproducts). The policy started in 2015 and the annual budget is about 26 billion won. However, a quantitative evaluation of policy effects has not yet been made. Therefore, in this study, the economic surplus of the policy was analyzed using the equilibrium displacement model (EDM). From the results of the welfare analysis, from 2016 to 2019, producer surplus in the chicken and duck market increased by KRW 70.9 billion, while consumer surplus decreased by KRW 70 billion. In other words, the total economic surplus of the chicken and duck market increased by about one billion won during the same period due to the increase in export demand according to the policy. Therefore, the Livestock Raw Material Purchase Fund can be viewed as a policy to maintain and increase export demand for export livestock products and to improve the economic surplus of the livestock product market. Also, since the policy is based on loans, it does not place a burden on the government's finances. Therefore, this policy should continue in the future.
The DDA negotiations, in 9th multilateral trade round, has focused on nine sectors including agriculture, non-agricultural market access, and service. After August 2004, member countries have intensified negotiations in order to reduce gaps between countries perspective. So most attention of members countries has been focused on agricultural trade and non-agricultural market access. Agricultural negotiation confront tough challenges because of different positions among members countries, and are not expected to reach perfect forms of modalities. Nevertheless based on the fact that many countries nearly reached agreement on some core. Under this circumstance, Korea has to prepare more practical strategics and more effective individual commitments to minimized the agricultural market opening. The other way, some Korean agricultural products will be exported by the DDA negotiation. Recently the understanding of Third-Party Logistics and Logistics Outsourcing are receiving increased attention as means of becoming competitive in agricultural products export improvement. So this paper presents a in-depth analysis for third-party logistics and its implications for Korea agricultural product export system improvement in E-trade Era.
The actual status of production, management and export of 96 traditional food processing companies which supported by the government in Kyungpook province were investigated. Governmental support contributed to the increase of farmhouse income, employment and depreciation of agricultural products a bit, but it was supported mostly to unexperienced party. Technologies for food processing developed in institute and college were little. 42 percent of packaging design was developed by service commission, but the agency was very limited. Total export price in 1996 was 2.3 billion Won, but it was decreased in 1997. The responce to the prospect of traditional food processing work, 37.5 percent replied that this work can bring up as exportable product, but ambiguious response was a little. To settle a weakness of farming food processing work, the establishment of special marketing comapny was required and this company should accomplish marketing advertizing and exporting business.
Globalization of consumption, expansion of cross border e-trade, increase use of internet and mobile have led to rapid growth of world e-commerce particularly in Asia and emerging markets. Impacted by Korean wave, online export is continuously increasing, yet Korea is experiencing severe e-commerce trade imbalance. Export growth rate and ratio of Korean small companies are relatively low from OECD member countries. Therefore, Korean government is currently emphasizing on vitalization of online export to China to resolve trade imbalance and to increase export of small companies. To propose detail measures to vitalize online export to China, this study is focused on export customs clearance procedure of Korea and import customs clearance procedure of China in view of online export company. Also suggested countermeasure plan and analysis for the new tax revision plan related to e-commerce which implemented on April 8th 2016. This study have grouped countermeasure plan by short term plan of firms and long term plan of the government. As for the short-term countermeasure plan for firms, first, comparison analysis of tax rate on products is need to decide type of e-commerce strategy; second, if planning to start e-commerce business to China, sales possibility and certification check is necessary; third, through preparation of customs clearance document is needed; last in order to obtain price competitiveness, new logistics strategy and packing development is required. As for the long-term countermeasure plan for the government, I have suggested cooperated bonded logistics service for small businesses and operation plan of show room for promising Korean products.
