  • Solvent effects on the reactions of DANSYL and BANSYL chlorides with substituted pyridines have been investigated using two parameters of Taft's solvatochromic correlation and four parameters of Kirkwood-Onsager, Parker, Marcus, Hildebrand equation. The acetonitrile molecules accelerate charge separation of the reactants and stabilize the transition state. The coefficient of the solvent parameters provide a good information to predict and to analyze the reaction mechanism. The nucleophilic substitution reaction of DANSYL and BANSYL chlorides with substituted pyridines are ruled by the contribution of the change in dipole moment term and polarity-polarizability term.

  • Using a conventional two-compartment cell with stirrers the separation of an aqueous solution of HCl-$NiCl_2$ by an anion-exchange membrane Neosepta-AFN was investigated. The dialysis process was characterized by the permeability coefficient of the membrane towards to $Cl^-$ ions. This quantity was determined by the numerical integration of equations, which describe the time dependence of the total concentration of $Cl^-$ ions in compartment initially filled with stripping agent (water), combined with an optimizing procedure. The analysis of the experimental results showed that this permeability coefficient is a satisfactory characteristic for the process studied. It can be graphically correlated with the initial acid and initial salt concentrations in the compartment initially filled with acid+salt mixture.

  • This paper presents a semi-empirical model to predict the frost growth formed on the cold cylinder surface. The model is composed of the correlations for frost properties including the various frosting parameters and local heat transfer coefficient. The effects of varying the correlations for local heat transfer coefficient on the frost growth are examined to establish the model. The numerical results are compared with experimental data obtained by the previous researchers. The results agree well with the experimental data within a maximum error of $13\%$. As the results, the frost thickness decreases with changing angular position from front stagnation to separation point. Also, the effects of air velocity on the frost growth are negligible, as compared to the other frosting parameters.

  • The implementation of chirplet transform to locate axially aligned defects in pipes has been investigated. The results are obtained from experiments performed on a carbon steel pipe using magnetostrictive sensors. Chirplet transform is applied to the reflected signal to separate the individual modes from dispersive and multimodal waveform. The separated modes are used to calculate reflection coefficients which would be used to characterize defects. It is found that the reflection from a defect consists of the wave pulses with gradually decaying amplitudes. Also the results show that the reflection coefficient initially increases with the crack length but finally reaches an oscillating regime.

  • Computational Study of a sphere subjected to free stream flow and simultaneously subjected to spinning motion is carried out. Three dimensional compressible Navier-Stokes equations are solved using fully implicit finite volume scheme. SST(Shear Stress Transport) $k-{\omega}$ turbulence model is used. Aerodynamic characteristics being affected are studied. Validation of the numerical process is done for the no spin condition. Variation of drag coefficient and shock wave strength with increase in spinning rate is reported. Changes in the wake region of the sphere with respect to spinning speed are also observed.

  • The purpose of this paper is to represent values of acoustic cues for Korean oral stops in the multi-dimensional space, and to attempt to find possible relationships among acoustic cues through correlation coefficient analyses. The acoustic cues used for differentiation of 3 types of Korean stops are closure duration, voice onset time and fundamental frequency of a vowel after a stop. The values of these cues are plotted in the two and three dimensional space and see what the critical cues are for complete separation of different types of stops. Correlation coefficient analyses show that there are statistically significant relationships among acoustic cues but they are not strong enough to make a conjecture that there is a possible articulatory relationship among the mechanisms employed by the acoustic cues.

  • Numerical investigation has been carried out for laminar flow past an inclined square cylinder in cross freestream. In particular, inclination of a square cylinder with respect to the main flow direction can cause sudden shift of the separation points to other edges, resulting in drastic change of flow-induced forces on the cylinder such as Strouhal number (St) of vortex shedding, drag and lift forces on the cylinder, depending upon the inclination angle. Collecting all the numerical results obtained, we propose contour diagrams of drag/lift coefficients and Strouhal number on an Re-Angle plane. This study would be the first step towards understanding flow-induced forces on cylindrical structures under a strong gust of wind from the viewpoint of wind hazards.

  • A mathematical model has been developed for an analytical calculation of distribution coefficient (K$_1$) in the presence of a chelating agent, The newley formulated K$\_$D/ is given as a function of the mole fraction of a free metal ion in the solution, ${\beta}$, and will serve as an alternative for the tedious individual measurements of K$\_$D/. This formulation will be used to analyze the effects of the presence of chelating agents on the adsorption capacity of geologic media such as clay minerals and soils. The present method may be a significant progess for the evaluation of the transport phenomena and separation processes of metal ions (or radionuclides) in the presence of chelating agents.

  • The gas permeation performance of commercially available polyetherimide (Ultem$\^$/) is simulated by means of molecular dynamics methods. By the observation of trajectory, long distance hopping of gas molecules is needed to transverse from top to bottom of membrane. Two possibilities mechanism of diffusion phenomena through glassy polymers can be issued. Diffusion coefficients were calculated by Einstein relation equation. In solubility simulation, the value of the constants C'$\_$H/ and b for O$_2$ at 300 K were calculated. The diffusion and solubility coefficient of He for PEI were simulated in this simulation work. the permeability coefficient is 9.88 Barrer. This value is closed to experimental value of 9.4 Barrer.

  • In this paper, We had proposed SDR module, and designed FPGA to compose with channel separation of broadband CDMA signal what have multiple FA. At decomposition and composition process of multiple FA CDMA signal, system only progress decomposition and composition of channel selected by software. Therefore, proposed system can manage base station transceiver system very effectively than the other way what send on all band of multiple CDMA signal. Also, it is possible that system sets again coefficient of each filter because it is consisted of SDR module. Therefore, we can easily control coefficient each filter according to base station transceiver system environment.
