  • To facilitate the base station planning in high speed railway communication systems, it is necessary to consider the functional relationships between the base station transmit power and space parameters such as train velocity and cell radius. Since these functions are able to present some inherent system properties determined by its spatial topology, they will be referred to as the power-space functions in this paper. In light of the fact that the line-of-sight path persists the most power of the received signal of each passing train, this paper considers the average transmission rate and bounds on power-space functions based on the additive white Gaussian noise channel (AWGN) model. As shown by Monte Carlo simulations, using AWGN channel instead of Rician channel introduces very small approximation errors, but a tractable mathematical framework and insightful results. Particularly, lower bounds and upper bounds on the average transmission rate, as well as transmit power as functions of train velocity and cell radius are presented in this paper. It is also proved that to maintain a fixed amount of service or a fixed average transmission rate, the transmit power of a base station needs to be increased exponentially, if the train velocity or cell radius is increased, respectively.

  • Nowadays, numerous major cities around the world are undergoing urban regeneration through 'culturenomics' as a key strategy, which finds out cultural resources in a cultural backwater and revitalizes the city and its economy by making full use of those resources. The purpose of this study is to research the strategies and the characteristics of the contemporary museum by regeneration of abandoned architecture through such case studies as Tate Modem in London, PSI Contemporary Art Center in New York City, Hamburger Bahnhop-Museum for Contemporary Art in Berlin and Ullens Center for Contemporary Arts in Beijing. This study eventually suggest the basic guideline for the contemporary museum by regeneration of abandoned architecture, aiming to establish Seoul as an environmentally cultural city. The case studies show all of the four museums preserve almost all of their appreances, basic structures and spaces, but, their material expressions, exhibition methods and their programs vary depending on their goals and strategies differentiating the way they preserve the old architectural elements and the way they add the new ones forming their unique characteristics.

  • This study investigated the current industrial hygiene status of China, a socialistic country, to explore the future direction of industrial hygiene of in Korea. In China, the industrial hygiene is called as labor hygiene, which includes industrial health and industrial hygiene. The main goal of labor hygiene is to protect the health of laborers, promote the productivity and ensure the development of industry and agriculture. Started since the foundation of People's Republic of China in 1949, the labor hygiene developed with the occupational disease science which belongs to clinical medicine, has grown today as an independent science. The labor hygiene has made a rapid progress, especially for the last 20 years. The scope of industrial hygiene was expanded from the prevention and treatment of silicosis to pneumoconiosis and o.ther occupational poisoning caused toxic substances. In addition, not only the prevention of industrial toxication but also the prevention of hazards of phisical causes were included in the scope of industrial hygiene. Based on activation of health centers, the organization for the prevention & treatment of occupational diseases was established at the city, county and state. The industrial hygiene monitoring is being carried out through clear division and partition system.

  • North Korea's development and deployment of nuclear weapons increases Pyongyang's diplomatic bargaining leverage. It is a strategic response to counteract the great expansion in US leverage with the collapse of the USSR. Post-Cold War American influence and hegemony is justified partly by claiming victory in successfully containing an allegedly imperialist Soviet Union. The US created and led formal and informal international institutions as part of its decades-long containment grand strategy against the USSR. The US now exploits these institutions to expedite US unilateral global preeminence. Third World regimes perceived as remnants of the Cold War era that resist accommodating to American demands are stereotyped as rogue states. Rogue regimes are criminal offenders who should be brought to justice, i.e. regime change is required. The initiation of summit diplomacy between US President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un occurred following the January 2018 Hawaiian ballistic missile false alarm. This event and its political consequences illustrate the efficacy of nuclear weapons as bargaining leverage for so-called rogue actors. North Korea is highly unlikely to surrender those weapons that were the instigation for the subsequent summit diplomacy that occurred. A broader, critical trend-focused strategic analysis is necessary to adopt a longer-term view of the on-going Korean nuclear crisis. The aim would be to conceptualize long-term policies that increase the probability that nuclear weapons capability becomes a largely irrelevant issue in interaction between Pyongyang, Seoul, Beijing and Washington.

  • This paper identifies five factors that limited urban network formation in Northeast Asia over the past half millennium, questions the extent to which they are being overcome in the 1990s, and sketches a network of cities that could boost regionalism. It briefly traces the historical evolution of these factors, including comparisons with European integration, while focusing primarily on the policies of the 1990s that have affected their continuing role. First is the factor of closed national markets with weak regional integration. Second is the preeminence of administrative means of integration over commercial ones. Third is the character of localism, shackled by overcentralization and weak cross-border linkages. Fourth is the limited nature of internationalism, dominated by state catch-up policies with one-sided global involvement. Fifth is a lack of regional consciousness. Just as national urban integration was essential for regional networks to form, without regional integration it is difficult to contemplate Northeast Asian cities taking their rightful place in a global urban network. After noting the failures of the 1990s, the paper points to the potential role as dragon's heads for sub-regional urban networks of potential front-line cities: Tumen, Sapporo, Irkutsk, and what I call the Amur triangle. Also of interest are how the capitals of Beijing, Moscow, Seoul, and Tokyo will adjust to a transformed urban network. After all, their current skepticism must be overcome with a program that links the benefits on all sides in order to build trust in regionalism. This requires internationalism and symbols of a balanced approach to each country's needs.

  • Morphometric analysis of Lycorma delicatula was performed to confirm whether local individuals had a geographical difference in their wing variations. The L. delicatula individuals were collected from 10 localities in Korea, China, and Japan, and 14 morphometric characteristics selected from the forewing were analyzed. The Korean individuals were similar to the ones from the northern area of the Yangtze River, but less similar to the others from the southern area of the Yangtze River. The individuals from Seoul and Buan were very similar to those from Shanghai. In case of wing spots, the individuals from Beijing had relatively small spots, while the ones from Linan had big spots. The Japanese individuals had a relatively large wing size.

  • While the existing feng-shui is largely approached architecturally and geographically as positive place and negative place, the study is characterized by approaching and analyzing poong-soo environmentally. The theory of Eco-city as one of modern-city theories is worthy of studying by analyzing the merits and demerits of it and combining it with poong-soo and making a new alternative theory. Theory of Natural Energy and principle of Natural Balance. Thus, poong-soo ideas can be an important view of nature in analyzing the theory of Eco-city which is coming to the front these days. In particular, we try to make use of poong-soo as a basic theory for a city planning and design by studying and analyzing and combining the merits and demerits of Eco-city with poong-soo and presenting a new alternative method of a stable and balanced "refined city development". On the other hand, we connect 'theory with practice(or experience)' by covering all spaces variably from minimum unit space to city-space from the standpoint of poong-soo. But, problem of the Theory of Eco-city from the view of poong-soo are too artificial and theoretical, even if ideal. Conversely, from the view of Eco-city, the possibility of the practicability of Korean poong-soo is judged to be high. we can tell that among capital cities applied by poong-soo, historical cities like Beijing in China, Seoul in Korea and Tokyo in Japan are poong-soo cities in accordance with the requirements of Eco-city.

  • Air pollution is social issue that has long-term and short-term harmful effect on the health of animals, plants, and environments. Chimneys are the primary source of air pollutants that pollute the atmosphere, so their location and type must be detected and monitored. Power plants and industrial complexes where chimneys emit air pollutants, are much less accessible and have a large site, making direct monitoring cost-inefficient and time-inefficient. As a result, research on detecting chimneys using remote sensing data has recently been conducted. In this study, YOLOv5-based chimney detection model was generated using BUAA-FFPP60 open dataset create for power plants in Hebei Province, Tianjin, and Beijing, China. To improve the detection model's performance, data split and data augmentation techniques were used, and a training strategy was developed for optimal model generation. The model's performance was confirmed using various indicators such as precision and recall, and the model's performance was finally evaluated by comparing it to existing studies using the same dataset.

  • As the rapid pace of modern society, people's daily life is becoming tenser and busier. We need a place to relax and to release our pressure. Coffee shops therefor become one of our best choice. With the strengthening of the expansion of the localized Starbucks coffee shop, it becomes extremely urgent for other coffee shops to enhance the space environment design to become outstanding in the coffee shop market. This paper researches and compares the indoor environment design of Starbucks coffee shops in four cities in China, namely Shanghai, Suzhou, Shenzhen and Beijing and four cities in Korea, namely Busan, Seoul, Seoul and Jeju. By comparing the design characteristics and the style of the interior environment of Korea-China coffee shops, we analyze the various elements of space design and summarize the differences in the environmental design of Korea-China Starbucks coffee shops. Moreover, we propose the strategic direction for the future design and the future development of coffee shops. The survey results show that the indoor environment design of Starbucks coffee brand mainly highlights the regional cultural characteristics. Starbucks shops utilize the fashion culture elements based on the local economic and cultural characteristics, aiming at creating a characteristic coffee brand culture and promoting the vigorous development of the coffee market.

  • This study has been conducted to investigate the amount of residual sulfur dioxide for herbal medicines of 30 species which are purchased in 13 different regions (Bonghwa, Busan, Chunju, Jecheun, Kwangiu, Keumsan, Seoul, Taeku, Cheungdu, Xian, Beijing, Tokyo and Osaka). The sulfur dioxide residues were determined in the collected 386 samples by the modified Monier-Williams method. The residues of sulfur dioxide in 386 samples ranged from ND (under detection limit) to 2808 ppm. The sulfur dioxide in Cassiae Semon, Cinnamomi Ramulus, Cervi Cornu, Hoelen, Crataegi Fructus, Artemisiae Argyi Herba, Scolopendrae Corpus, Schizandrae Fructus and Cyperi Rhizoma were detected under the detection limit regardless of the collected regions. The sulfur dioxide residues in herbal medicines collected in domestic regions were relatively lower than those in foreign regions. There are no standards for sulfur dioxide residual limits of herbal medicines in Korea. This results will provide the scientific basis for the standardization of sulfur dioxide residues in Korea Pharmacopoeia.
