  • Building reconstruction attempts to generate geometric and radiometric models of existing buildings usually from sensory data, which have been traditionally aerial or satellite images, more recently airborne LIDAR data, or the combination of these data. Extensive studies on building reconstruction from these data have developed some competitive algorithms with reasonable performance and some degree of automation. Nevertheless, the level of details and completeness of the reconstructed building models often cannot reach the high standards that is now or will be required by various applications in future. Hence, the use of terrestrial sensory data that can provide higher resolution and more complete coverage has been intensively emphasized. We developed a fusion framework for building reconstruction from terrestrial sensory data, that is, points from a laser scanner, images from digital camera, and absolute coordinates from a total station. The proposed approach was then applied to reconstructing a building model from real data sets acquired from a large complex existing building. Based on the experimental results, we assured that the proposed approach cam achieve high resolution and accuracy in building reconstruction. The proposed approach can effectively contribute in developing an operational system producing large urban models for 3D GIS with reasonable resources.

  • Objective : To explore the effect of intensive sensory integration therapy through daily camp programs for children with sensory modulation disorder. Methods : A comparison of quantitative data and qualitative description between before and after sensory integration therapy camp and main outcome measure was used, including MAP behavior checklist, JSI-2, COPM, sensory history, STEP-SI. Results : The adaptive response was increased and sensory modulation problems were observed less than before the camp. Conclusion : For this study a more diverse, extended and intensive SI program is considered necessary. Further study is needed to develop these findings.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of sensory integration training on children with developmental delays. To achieve this goal, an educational experiment is conducted in five main areas: gross motor ability, fine motor ability, adaptive ability, language and social ability in children with developmental delay. The study subjects were children with developmental delays aged 3-6 years diagnosed at Beijing Institute of Pediatrics and Beijing Medical University and received sensory integration intervention and homebased training at the Golden Rain Forest Beijing Tongzhou Center from 2018 to 2021. According to the purpose of the analysis, the data collected are subjected to descriptive statistics using SPSS 21.0 statistical program, Two-way MANOVA analysis, and data analysis method of multivariate analysis is used to process the collected data. In addition, a total of 39 subjects were selected, including 19 children who received sensory integration training and 20 children who only received family training. The results show that the sensory integration training group outperformed the home training group in all aspects and developmental quotient, but the home training group also showed higher levels of significance for improvements in gross motor, fine motor and developmental quotient.

  • Data obtained for sensory evaluation have a wide dispersion and fuzziness since human sensory organs are used as a means of measuring sensation instead of measuring instruments. Such dispersion and fuzziness are caused by all kinds of time error and have a great influence on the sensory evaluation, but most of previous papers not consider time errors. In this study, the comparative judgement capability of the evaluator was discriminated by means of the eigen- structure analysis on the premise that evaluation values of sensory evaluators obtained by a paired-comparison become different by the order of sample presentation.

  • The purpose of the study was to examine the effect of motif categories and motif colors on evaluating sensory image of fashion materials with the gestalt theory as the background. The research was conducted on a quasi experimental basis, with subjects numbering 187 male and 207 female college students. Data were collected in the period from march 19th to march 31st, 2007. A set of fabric stimuli and semantic differential scales were developed. The stimuli were thirteen fabric species(each measuring 12 by 13cm). Variables included; (a) motif colour(white, grey, pink and blue) (b) motif categories(plain, paisley, flower, stripes and zebra effect). The semantic differential scale to measure sensory image of fabric stimuli included 23 sets of bi-polar adjectives. The data were analysed by factor analysis and ANOVA and the major finding were as follows. 1) Four sensory dimensions emerged of importance: salience, attractiveness, comfort and softness. 2) The motif category effected on the four sensory image dimensions while the motif colour effected on salience, comfort and softness sensory dimensions. 3) An interaction effect was founded between motif category and motif colour. 4) Motif category showed significant effects on the preference and liking of the fashion, however the motif colour did not show any significant effects on the preference and liking. As a whole the results supported the gestalt theory and the results can be used for the marketing strategy for developing fashion fabrics.

  • A sensible media simulation system for automobiles is introduced to open up new possibilities for an in-car entertainment system. In this paper, the system architecture is presented, which includes a virtuality-to-reality adaptation scheme. Standard data schemes for context and control information from the International Standard MPEG-V (ISO/IEC 23005) are introduced to explain the details of data formats, which are interchangeable in the system. A sensible media simulator and the implementation of a sensory device are presented to prove the effectiveness of the proposed system. Finally, a correlation between learning styles and sensory effects (that is, wind and vibration effects) is statistically analyzed using the proposed system. The experiment results show that the level of satisfaction with the sensory effects is unaffected overall by the learning styles of the test subjects. Stimulations by vibration effects, however, generate more satisfaction in people with a high tactile perception level or a low visual perception level.

  • An increase in variance (overdispersion) can occur when a binomial statistical analysis is applied to sensory difference test data in which replicate sensory evaluations (tastings) and multiple evaluators (judges) are combined to increase the sample size. Such a practice can cause extensive Type I errors, leading to serious misinterpretations of the data, especially when traditional simple binomial analysis is applied. Alternatively, the use of beta binomial analysis will circumvent the problem of overdispersion. This brief review discusses the uses and computation methodology of beta binomial analysis and in practice evidence for the occurrence of overdispersion.

  • The Wireless sensor networks (WSN) continuously generates large volumes of raw data which own natural heterogeneity. These networks are normally application specific with no sharing or reusability of sensor data among applications. In order for applications and services to be developed independently of particular network, sensor data need to be available in more standardized form. In this paper, we propose Architecture for Sensory data management. This Extensible Markup Language (XML) oriented architecture allows the sensor data to be understood and processed in a meaningful way by a variety of applications with different purposes. We developed a middle layer which performs transformation on raw sensory data to XML and vice versa.

  • Purpose: Thermal sensory test as an essential part of quantitative sensory testing (QST) has been recognized as a useful tool in the evaluation of the trigeminal nerve function. Normative data in the orofacial region have been reported but the data on differences in the test site, sex and ethnicity are still insufficient. Thus, this study aimed to investigate the normal range of orofacial thermal QST data in the healthy Korean women, and assess sex difference of thermal perception in the orofacial regions. Methods: Thermal QST was conducted on 20 healthy women participants (mean age, 26.4 years; range, 21 to 34 years). The thermal thresholds (cold detection threshold, CDT; warm detection threshold, WDT; cold pain threshold, CPT; and heat pain threshold, HPT) were measured bilaterally at the 5 trigeminal sites (the forehead, cheek, mentum, lower lip and tongue tip). The normative thermal thresholds of women in the orofacial region were evaluated using one-way ANOVA and compared with the previously reported data from age- and site-matched 30 healthy men (mean age, 26.1 years; range, 23 to 32 years) using two-way ANOVA. One experienced operator performed the tests of both sexes and all tests were done in the same condition except the time variability. Results: Women showed significant site differences for the CDT (p<0.001), WDT (p<0.001), and HPT (p=0.047) in the orofacial region. The CDT (p<0.001) and the CPT (p=0.007) presented significant sex difference unlike the WDT and the HPT. Conclusions: The thermal sensory evaluation in the orofacial region should be considered in the context of site and sex and the normative data in this study could be useful for assessment of the sensory abnormalities in the clinical setting.
