  • Testing and validation processes are critical tasks in developing a new hardware platform based on a new technology. This paper describes a series of experiments to evaluate the performance of a newly developed MEMS-based wireless sensor node as part of a wireless sensor network (WSN). The sensor node consists of a sensor board with four accelerometers, a thermometer and filtering and digitization units, and a MICAz mote for control, local computation and communication. The experiments include calibration and linearity tests for all sensor channels on the sensor boards, dynamic range tests to evaluate their performance when subjected to varying excitation, noise characteristic tests to quantify the noise floor of the sensor board, and temperature tests to study the behavior of the sensors under changing temperature profiles. The paper also describes a large-scale deployment of the WSN on a long-span suspension bridge, which lasted over three months and continuously collected ambient vibration and temperature data on the bridge. Statistical modal properties of a bridge tower are presented and compared with similar estimates from a previous deployment of sensors on the bridge and finite element models.

  • As nation and society progresses, urban ground facilities and their management system get more complicated and the cost and effort to control the system efficiently grows exponentially. This study suggests to the deployment method of a sensor node by Wireless Sensor Network for controling the Urban Ground Facilities of National Facilities. First, we achieve the management facilities and method using the first analysis and then make the coverage of sensing and then set up the Sensor Node in Urban Ground Facilities. Second, we propose the solution way of repetition by the second analysis. And, we embody the GIS program by Digital Map and this method, we improve the reality by overlapping an aerial photo. Also we make an experience on the sensor node allocation using making program. we can remove the repetition sensor node about 50%, and we can confirm that the sensor nodes are evenly distributed on the road.

  • IIoT applies IoT to industrial sites to monitor factors such as production, manufacturing, and safety, and it is a solution that allows the worker to easily manage the site. An important technology element in this IIoT is a technology that collects information on industrial sites and delivers reliable information to managers using sensors. Therefore, general industrial sites use wired network methods such as Ethernet and RS485 to deliver information. However, there are limitations to the problem of infrastructure costs and to the wide range of line constructions in network deployment. Therefore, in this paper, the network of IEEE 802.15.4 Ad-Hoc wireless sensors is deployed on production lines with machine tools. In addition, we describe the routing method considering machine tool layout and sensor node failure detection algorithm.
