Dynamic Walking Control of Biped Walking Robot using Intelligent Control Method and Sensor Interface (지능형 제어기법 및 센서 인터페이스를 이용한 이족 보행 로봇의 동적보행 제어)

  • This paper introduces a dynamic walking control of biped walking robot using intelligent sensor interface and shows an intelligent control method for biped walking robot. For the dynamic walking control of biped walking robot, serious motion controllers are used. They are main controller(using INTEL80C296SA MPU), sub controller(using TMS320LF2406 DSP), sensor controller(using Atmega128 MPU) etc. The used sensors are gyro sensor, tilt sensor, infrared sensor, FSR sensor etc. For the feasibility of a dynamic walking control of biped walking robot, we use the biped walking robot which has twenty-five degrees of freedom(D.O.F.) in total. Our biped robot is composed of two legs of six D.O.F. each, two arms of five D.O.F. each, a waist of two D.O.F., a head of one D.O.F.

  • Recently, In order to provide ubiquitous service, we develop each middleware and interface for sensors networks, RFID(Radio Frequency IDentification) and GPS(Global Positioning System). We use GPS for the location-based services, RFID for identifying the distribution logistics services, sensor networks for collecting the context data such as temperature, humidity, barometric pressure. Recently, there is increasing the need of integrated interface for using these sensor elements complexly in agriculture and livestock, construction, medical applications and, etc. This paper developments a integrated common interface for supporting efficiently process of sensing data using RFID, GPS and sensor network. This interface have the filtering function, parsing function, queuing function, interface management function, access function and, etc. We present the integrated frame structure combined with the collected context data in GPS, RFID and sensor networks and, support the open interface for providing complex ubiquitous application systems. Therefore, this interface will be efficiently used the system using RFID, GPS and sensor network, and supported many ubiquitous application services.

Design of myoelectrical sensor for myoelectric hand prosthesis (전동의수용 근전위 센서 설계)

  • This paper proposes a dry-type surface myoelectric sensor for the myoelectric hand prosthesis. The designed surface myoelectric sensor is composed of skin interface and processing circuits. The skin interface has one reference and two input electrodes, and the reference electrode is located in the center of two input electrodes. Considering the conduction velocity and the median frequency of the myoelectric signal, the inter-electrode distance (IED) between two input electrodes as 18mm, 20mm, and 22mm is selected. The signal processing circuit consists of a differential amplifier with a band pass filter, a band rejection filter for rejecting 60㎐ power-line noise, amplifier, and a level circuit. Using SUS440, six prototype skin interface with different reference electrode shape and IED is fabricated, and their output characteristics are evaluated by output signal obtained from the forearm of a healthy subject. The experimental results show that the skin interface with parallel bar shape and the 18mm IED has a good output characteristics. The fabricated dry-type surface myoelectric sensor is evaluated for the upper-limb amputee.

  • Recently, it is progressing a study for supporting various application services using OpenAPI(Application Program Interface). But it is not enough a study related OpenAPI(Open Application Interface) to access many collected context data of sensor networks for ubiquitous application services. Therefor, this paper presents Pull/Push service model based on sensor networks, and implements OpenAPI fer Pull/push application services. And, we design and implement OpenAPI using web service for Pull application services. This Pull OpenAPI supports users the context data of temperature and humidity using the remote service based on .Net framework in sensor networks. And, we design and implement OpenAPI using TCP/IP socket interface for Push application services in sensor network. This Push OpenAPI provides users a state of temperature, humidity collecting in sensor networks. Consequently, user can develop easily various application services as supporting OpenAPI instead of closed application interface of sensor networks based on existed specific database.

  • Currently, the management system of wastewater treatment facility has magnified due to the stringent regulations for the protection of the environment. However, wastewater treatment system is insufficient in wastewater quality monitoring technology in specialized. Above all it aim one-to-one data transmission instead of one-to-n data transmission through sensor and network. And then, it lack compatibility toward communication system between different. Mainly it has observed detecting system of manual system. In this paper, we studied protocol technology about efficient data transmission between sensor and integration interface of water quality detecting interface for automated sensor network integration interface in water restoration facility. Therefore, we proved the possibility of efficient data transmission from communication system of different type through monitoring implementation of sensor network integration interface.

A study on the development of an arc sensor and its interface system for a welding robot (용접로봇을 위한 아크센서 및 인?이스 시스템 개발에 관한 연구)

  • An interface system was developed to offer the welding capability to a robot controller which had not any embedded function for arc welding before, and also an arc sensor algorithm was proposed for weld seam tracking of the welding robot. For the interface system between the robot controller and welding equipments, data communication software and interface connections were composed. The interface system was mae to correspond welding condition, correction data, operation sequence and current status with the robot controller by mutual had shaking and digital signal transfer. Graphic user interface program developed under the environment of windows made it easy to monitor data communication and operation status, and to control welding and sensing sequence. Arc sensing algorithm proposed in this study to compensate torch position error was based on a fuzzy logic with the variables of current difference and current differenced change at torch weaving extremities. The developed interface system could be successfully implemented in between welding equipments and the robot controller, and showed normal status and exact function in data and signal communication between the systems. The whole robot welding system was then examined to verify its welding and seam tracking capabilities in horizontal fillet, vertical fillet, and 3-dimensional fillet weldment. The experiments revealed sound weld bead shapes and also good seam tracing results.

Controlling Position of Virtual Reality Contents with Mouth-Wind and Acceleration Sensor

  • In this paper, we propose a new framework to control VR(Virtual reality) contents in real time using user's mouth-wind and acceleration sensor of mobile device. In VR, user interaction technology is important, but various user interface methods is still lacking. Most of the interaction technologies are hand touch screen touch or motion recognition. We propose a new interface technology that can interact with VR contents in real time using user's mouth-wind method with acceleration sensor. The direction of the mouth-wind is determined using the angle and position between the user and the mobile device, and the control position is adjusted using the acceleration sensor of the mobile device. Noise included in the size of the mouth wind is refined using a simple average filter. In order to demonstrate the superiority of the proposed technology, we show the result of interacting with contents in game and simulation in real time by applying control position and mouth-wind external force to the game.

  • This paper is to develop the sensing system for opening-force measurement such as O-Ring muscular meridian. We designed to overcome the functional limit that the conventional force-sensor can measure just the closing-force. Therefore, the new sensor can meet a variety of application as well as O-Ring test. The structure of the new sensor is an actuator-type system using an electromagnet. That is made up of mechanical system, electromagnet, current transformer and computer interface circuit. Driving software and user interface program of the new sensor system also is explained in this paper.

An Amperometric Proton Selective Sensor with an Elliptic Microhole Liquid/Gel Interface for Vitamin-C Quantification

  • An amperometric ascorbic acid selective sensor utilizing the transfer reaction of proton liberated from the dissociation of ascorbic acid in aqueous solution across an elliptic micro-hole water/organic gel interface is demonstrated. This redox inactive sensing platform offers an alternative way for the detection of ascorbic acid to avoid a fouling effect which is one of the major concerns in redox based sensing systems. The detection principle is simply measuring the current change with respect to the assisted transfer of protons by a proton selective ionophore (e.g., ETH 1778) across the micro-hole interface between the water and the polyvinylchloride-2-nitrophenyloctylether gel phase. The assisted transfer reaction of protons generated from ascorbic acid across the polarized micro-hole interface was first characterized using cyclic voltammetry. An improved sensitivity for the quantitative analysis of ascorbic acid was achieved using differential pulse stripping voltammetry with a linear response ranging from 1 to $100\;{\mu}M$ concentrations of ascorbic acid. As a demonstration, the developed sensor was applied for analyzing the content of vitamin-C in different types of commercial pharmaceutical tablets and syrups, and a satisfactory recovery from these samples were also obtained.

The skin interface has one reference and two input electrodes, and the reference electrode is located in the center of two input electrodes. In this paper is proposed two types of sensors with the circle- and bar-shaped reference electrode, but all input electrodes are the bar-shaped. The metal material of the electrodes is the stainless steel (SUS440) that endures sweat and wet conditions. Considering the conduction velocity and the median frequency of the myoelectric signal, the inter-electrode distance (IED) between two input electrodes as 18mm, 20mm, and 22mm is selected. The signal processing circuit consists of a differential amplifier with a band pass filter, a band rejection filter for rejecting 60Hz power-line noise, amplifiers, and a mean absolute value(MAV) circuit. Using SUS440, six prototype skin interface with different reference electrode shape and IED is fabricated, and their output characteristics are evaluated by output signal obtained from the forearm of a healthy subject. The experimental results show that the skin interface with parallel bar shape and the 18mm IED has a good output characteristics. The fabricated dry-type surface myoelectric sensor is evaluated for the upper-limb amputee.
