This study was designed to investigate the image of show window displays. The specific objectives of the study are as follows; 1) Construct a semantic differential scale to evaluate the images of show window displays; 2) Identify the factor structure of the show window displays; 3) Cluster the brands according to the images of show window displays; 4) Examine how the images of show window displays differ according to the different brand clusters; and 5) Identify by brand clusters, how the different show window display images affect the purchasing desires. The following conclusions were made from this study; 1.25 pairs of adjectives for show window displays were found to include five factor dimensions (total variance 67.7%) such as evaluation, interest, hardness and softness, maturity, and modernity. 2. The brands were divided into six clusters according to the show window display images. 3. There were significant differences in the visual evaluation of the brand clusters in the show window display images. 4. There were significant differences in the show window display images that affect the Purchasing desires among the brand clusters.

In this paper, the quality scalable coding of selected region is presented. If a region is semantically more important than the others, it is appropriate that the image compression shcem is capable of handling the regional semantic difference because the information loss of the region of interest is more severe. We propose the quality scalable coding with its model by interoducing the quality scale parameter. It is more extended and generalized image compression philosophy than te conventional coding. As an implementation of the proposed quality scalable coding, H.263 based scheme is presented. This scheme can control the temporal and spatial quality efficiently, and improve the reconstructed image quality of the region of interest.

In this paper, the learnability of haptic icons was tested as a way of conveying turn-by-turn directions to users involved in navigation interactions with commercial smartphones. To do this, six most distinctive haptic icons were identified from those having different duration of each pulse, interval between pulses, and rhythm. Associations between the selected haptic icons and 3 pairs of navigation directions were analyzed using data gathered from 30 subjects by 7 point Likert scale. The haptic icons were then assigned to proper directions based on the results from that stereotype analysis. The results showed that the commercial smartphone with one linear motor at a fixed location is not capable of making hapticons to have clear directional stereotypes. The hapticons with poor stereotypes has no advantage in learnability compared to those of random assignment.

A purpose of this study is to 6nd out how the casual and formal style clothes of stripe pattern giving variety by pattern direction, pattern width, and contrast coloration have an effect on image of wearers. For this, 192 stimuli were made and 1200 testee evaluated them using semantic differential scale. As a result, five image dimensions were drawn as a factor of attractiveness, gracefulness, activeness, visibility, and tenderness. Unlike the value contrast previously researched, it showed that chroma contrast coloration which was interacted with a color tone contrast coloration had an effect on all the 5 image dimensions. This result was recognized as significant clothes dues in evaluating the image of stripe wearers. Besides, clothing style, stripe pattern, and contrast coloration were made clear as an efficient parameter in image presentation of clothing wearers.

The idia of modern product design is translated from the concept of functional importance as the basic function to that of emotional importance as the supplement function. In other words, the interests of the emotion in human performance side based on psychological factors of human are increased as well as the function in technical performance side based on physical factors of product. The standard emotional works for understanding the human's emotion are arranged in this paper. The standard emotional words are composed of words expressing the humaa's emotion. The adjectives adaptable to human's emotional works are collected from Korean dictionaries and arranged in the semantic differential(SD) scale. Next, the words with great marks evaluated by SD method are analyzed by factor analysis(FA) method and characterized as emotional words for understanding the human's emotion. The standard emotional words arranged in this paper are important because they are basic information for the development of product or technology as well as for the matter of emotional measurement technical development.

Purpose: The purposes of this study were to investigate nursing students' attitudes toward the elderly and to explore the effects of senior simulation on nursing students' attitudes. Method: For the purpose of the study, the program was performed on 223 nursing students in Gyung-gi. An Aging Semantic Differential Scale was utilized to evaluate attitudes toward the elderly. The senior simulation equipment consisted of a special spacesuit, glasses, gloves, and sand bag. Before and after the experiment subjects filled out questionnaires. Result: The attitude score before the experiment was 4.13, which indicates a neutral attitude, Nursing students' attitudes toward the elderly related significantly to religion, living with grandparents, volunteer work for the elderly, and acquired knowledge. The Senior simulation enabled nursing students' attitudes to turn positive toward the elderly. Conclusion: Senior simulation can affect nursing students' attitude toward the elderly. There is a need to develop routine education programs to maintain the positive attitude.

This study is to measure and evaluate the sensibility image for textile pattern design based on the generation. Ten patterns classified by a practical survey on the market are presented. A questionnaire has 14 sensibility related words scaled by 7 point semantic differential method. The practical research is performed for 200 women screened by sensibility test for individual character analysis based on the generation. Each subject is answered by a face-to-face interview method to improve survey's accuracy, For statistical test about differences in treatment means, SAS package is used and analyzed through ANOVA, significance probability and mean, In summary, this paper has proposed the sensibility image scale for apparel pattern design to satisfy individual sensibility, The results of this study can be effectively applied to develop textile pattern design based on human sensibility.

The purpose of this study was to provide practical information to design woolen fabrics in terms of structural and surface characteristics, which produce texture images of fabrics. The relationship among structural, surface characteristics and texture images, and preference and purchase intention were analyzed. To evaluate the texture images of the fabrics subjectively, 7 rank＇s semantic differential scale questionnaires were developed with thirty adjective pairs. Blind and non-blind test were performed with 320 female subjects who were in their 20-30＇s. Commercially available 48 woolen fabrics were used as specimens. Results showed that five factors were obtained: classic, elegance, warmth, natural and casual. These factors were closely related to fiber type, weave type, fabric counts, and finishes.

The purpose of this study is to find the adjective check list for rural stream landscape evaluation. The methods used in this study were to make the adjective check list suitable for stream landscape, to measure the adjective check list by the method of semantic differential scale, and to find the adjective check list suitable for evaluation of stream landscape. The adjective check list suggested in this study can guarantee objectivity of evaluation in improving or restoring stream landscape.

As the requirement of Semantic Web and knowledge management has been rising, ontology developments have been carried out actively. Ontology is now at the point that systematic developing standardization should be made up like the developing a large scale software. Yet, It has not been made to optimize and standardize ontology development methodologies. In this study, to compare ontology development methodologies, METHONTOLOGY, CommonKADS, OTK in foreign countries and EOE in Korea are selected. The evaluating method is to introduce CMM-I version 1.1 framework. Ontology development methodologies have been evaluated in process areas that introduce for CMM-I maturity level 2 and 3. The purpose of this study is to find matured process and weak process in ontology development methodology on the view of process maturity, and suggests the areas to be Improved in it. The result of this study can be applied as basic data to establish and improve ontology development methodology.
