Practical Use of Self-compacting Concrete by Hydraulic Composition Containing a Segregation-Reducing Agent (수경성 물질용 분리저감제를 사용한 무다짐 콘크리트 실용화 연구)

  • Recently, self-compacting concrete is applied in order to achieve workability improvement and rationalization in construction. But self-compacting concrete using viscosity agent has a difficulty in practical use because viscosity agent is invested small quantity and by man-power. Therefore in this paper we have been focused on the development and practical use of self-compacting concrete by hydraulic composition containing the segregation-reducing agent. According to mix variable, we find out right quantity of water, binder and rate of admixture replacement, and also we find out the optimum mix proportion. In the result, self-compacting concrete by hydraulic composition containing the segregation reducing agent gave satisfaction with standard and its demand will increase in the future.

  • The reduction behavior of $TiO_{2}$ in Al and Al/CaSi containing self-reducing $TiO_{2}$ briquettes(SRTB) was investigated. The maximum yield of Ti was expected with the slag composition of 45-55%CaO in the $CaO-Al_{2}O_{3}$ system. When $CaCO_{3}$ was used as a flux, the oxidation loss of reducing agent by $CO_{2}$ should be compensated, and therefore it leads to excessive requirement of the reducing agent. By using Al and CaSi mixture as a reducing agent of $TiO_{2}$, the reaction products both oxide and metal could be liquefied, and separated effectively with each other. As a result, the yield of Ti increases remarkably. The optimum mixing ratio of CaSi to Al is 78%CaSi-22%Al.

Self-Oscillating Flyback Converter for Reducing Standby Power (대기전력 저감을 위한 자려발진 플라이백 컨버터)

  • This paper presents the self-oscillating flyback converter for reducing standby power without a control-IC. The proposed self-oscillating flyback converter includes a DC-Blocking capacitor for reducing constant power loss of initial switching path of a conventional self-oscillating flyback converter. it's possible to reduce the standby power to 1W and power efficiency. To confirm the validity of proposed system, comparison of conventional system, verification of experimental results is presented by realization of 35W power system.

The Effects of Self-esteem, Stress, and Social Support on Depression among Middle-aged Women (자아존중감, 스트레스 및 사회적 지지가 중년 여성의 우울에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to determine if women's depression is influenced by their self esteem, stress, and social support. Methods: This study was a descriptive survey, and data were collected from the November 1 to December 20, 2015 using a self-reported questionnaire. The measurements were SES for self esteem, and CES-D for depression. A total of 165 middle-aged women participated through convenient sampling. Results: There were significant difference in self-esteem according to education level and monthly income. Additionally, there was an inverse correlation between stress and self esteem, as well as a significant strong correlation between self esteem, stress, social support and depression. Finally, multiple regression showed that self-esteem and stress had significant effects on depression, and their explanatory power was ${\Delta}R2(%)=47.9$ (${\Delta}F=66.526$, p<.001), p<.001). Conclusion: This study confirmed that depression was closely related to self-esteem and stress among middle-aged women. Based on these findings, we suggest that the health policies of reducing depression for middle-aged women should focus on reducing stress and reinforcing their self-esteem.

  • The reduction behavior of $Nb_2O_5$ in aluminum containing self-reducing briquettes(SRNB) was investigated. The time required for slag/metal equilibrium was estimated as about 20 minutes from the addition of SRNB on to the surface of molten steel. The maximum yield of Nb was expected with the slag composition of $60\%CaO-40\%Al_2O_3$. When $CaCO_3$ was used as a flux, the oxidation loss of Al by $CO_2$ should be compensated, and the chemical equivalent ratio of Al to $Nb_2O_5$ of about 1.43 was required to maximize the yield of Nb.

Effects of Self-Foot Reflexology on Stress, Fatigue and Blood Circulation in Premenopausal Middle-Aged Women (자가 발반사요법이 폐경 전 중년여성의 스트레스와 피로 및 혈액순환에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose: This study was to examine the effects of self-foot reflexology on stress, fatigue and blood circulation in premenopausal middle-aged women. Methods: A quasi-experimental nonequivalent control group, pretest-posttest design was used. Participants were 59 premenopausal, middle-aged women in their 40s and 60s living in G city: 30 in the experiment group and 29 in the control group. Data were collected from May to August 2008. Self-foot reflexology was performed three times a week for 6 weeks for 40 min at each session. Results: The results showed that self-foot reflexology was effective in reducing perceived stress and fatigue and helped blood circulation in premenopausal middle-aged women. Conclusion: Self-foot reflexology may be an effective nursing intervention in reducing perceived stress and fatigue and in improving blood circulation.

Validation of a Path Model on Adolescents' Suicidal Ideation and Violent Behavior (청소년의 자살사고.폭력행동 경로모형 분석)

  • Purpose: This study examined the fitness of a path model on the relationship among stress, self-esteem, aggression, depression, suicidal ideation, and violent behavior for adolescents. Methods: The subjects consisted of 1,177 adolescents. Data was collected through self-report questionnaires. The data was analyzed by the SPSS and AMOS programs. Results: Stress, self-esteem, aggression, and depression showed a direct effect on suicidal ideation for adolescents, while stress, self-esteem, and aggression showed an indirect effect on suicidal ideation for adolescents. Stress, self-esteem, aggression, and suicidal ideation showed a direct effect on violent behavior for adolescents, while stress, self-esteem, aggression, and depression showed an indirect effect on violent behavior for adolescents. The modified path model of adolescent's suicidal ideation and violent behavior was proven correct. Conclusion: These results suggest that adolescent's suicidal ideation and violent behavior can be decreased by reducing stress, aggression, and depression and increasing self-esteem. Based on the outcomes of this study, it is necessary to design an intervention program that emphasizes reducing stress, aggression, and depression and increasing self-esteem in order to decrease adolescents' suicide ideation and violence.

  • It is necessary to use pressure reducing valves to provide required water pressure in water-based fire suppression systems of the tall buildings. In many cases, however, pressure reducing valves lose their function due to the phenomenon of pressure equalization caused by valve leak. This study carried out performance evaluation of the recently developed pressure reducing valve to prevent pressure equalization and found it can maintain designed pressure reducing ratio within 11% variation and prevent pressure equalization by automatic self-lock function of the piston.

  • This paper presents the development of lightweight aggregate self-consolidating concrete using lightweight aggregates. Lightweight concrete is known for its advantage of reducing the self-weight of the structures, reducing the areas of sectional members as well as making the construction convenient. Thus the construction cost can be saved when applied to structures such as long-span bridge and high rise building. Therefore experimental tests were performed as such mechanical properties and carbonation of self-consolidating concrete using lightweight aggregates.

  • Lightweight concrete is known for its advantage of reducing the self-weight of the structures, reducing the areas of sectional members as well as making the construction convenient. Thus the construction cost can be saved when applied to structures such as long-span bridge and high rise buildings. However, the lightweight concrete requires specific mix design method that is quite different from the typical concrete, since using the typical mix method would give rise the material segregation as well as lower the strength by the reduced weight of the aggregate. In order to avoid such problems, it is recommended to apply the mix design method of self-compacting concrete for the lightweight concrete. Experimental tests were performed as such compressive strength, dry shrinkage and carbonation of high strength lightweight self-compacting concrete.
